THE WORD FOR TODAY.

Psalm 25:4
Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.

God has made it clear that He will show mercy to those He chooses. He has promised to be compassionate to those He has chosen to show mercy to. His grace is available to all who seek it.

Prayer 🙏🙇🙌

Oh Lord, I am but a mere human and I know I have made mistakes. I come to you today asking for your mercy and grace. Please forgive me for my wrongdoings and let them be forgotten. Amen.

WONDERFUL PREPARATION.

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9"

The Apostle Paul had worked with God for several years and had come to appreciate that God reserves certain things to His own prerogative. An example is that God tells you He will reward you but does not tell you the exact time when He will give you the reward. When you lose heart and do not press on with your walk with Him, you lose the reward. Apostle Paul was encouraging the church in Corinth not to give up on God for He has prepared something special for them which no eye, ear, or heart of man can apprehend. Apostle Paul quoted from Isaiah 64:4, and since the Word of God cannot be broken, that scripture is still relevant today. Dear beloved, do you feel like giving up on God? Be encouraged with this scripture, and keep pressing on. Praise the Lord!

POWERLESS ENEMY.

"A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Psalm 91:7"

The mental picture painted by the opening scripture is how our enemies have been designed by God. They have been made to fall in their thousands at our side; they cannot come close to us. Therefore, there is no need, as a child of God, to fear the enemy. Besides the devil and his cohort of darkness, anything that seeks to oppose or seek our downfall is an enemy. All of these have been designed to fall flat before us. Jesus Christ emphasized this in Luke 10:19, where he said our enemies have been perpetually placed under our feet for us to trample over them and that nothing would hurt us. Let this consciousness be in you, and you will overcome all doubts and opposition in your life. Dear beloved, do you have opposition in your life? How do you seek to overcome these?

A DIFFERENT SPIRIT.

"Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Romans 12:14"

The world believes in a tooth for a tooth and an eye for an eye; this means that the world believes in vengeance. However, the Christian is of a different Spirit; he is born into the light of God, which believes in forgiveness. The Christian is blessed and has been made to be a blessing (Ephesians 1:3). Therefore, cursing or uttering curses is not the nature of Christ and hence not the nature of the Christian. The Christian must live according to his or her nature. Jesus Christ acknowledged that we will be persecuted just as He was persecuted. All the persecutions are training tools to build our faith; therefore, instead of cursing our persecutors, we must bless them and rejoice to share in the sufferings of Christ. Dear beloved, are you being persecuted in any way? What are you doing to overcome it?

SPIRIT OF FEAR.

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7"

Fear comes from the devil whilst faith comes from God. The scripture is telling us not to entertain fear in our life. Any time fear wants to show up in you, declare "God has not given me the spirit of fear, I have power, love, and sound mind." As you do that the fear will disappear. Fear creates doubt, anxiety, and panic if entertained. As a Christian, dwell on what you have: power, love, and a sound mind. Dear reader, do you believe you have a sound mind and power over fear?

SING UNTO THE LORD.

"I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 89:1"

The psalmist had a special song to sing unto the LORD. Do you have a song to sing unto the LORD? The mercies of God endure forever. The compassion God has toward us is His mercy. The psalmist enjoyed the numerous mercies of God: there are mercies for healing, favor, refraining from sin, leadership, overcoming hunger, marriage, etc. These mercies are sure and cannot fail because our God is faithful. Do you need mercy in any area of your life? Make a song out of it and sing it unto God, and you will surely find favor in His sight.

HIS STRIPES BRINGS HEALING.

"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1 Peter 2:24"

The only person who is dead to sin is the Christian who is truly born again. The unbeliever is predisposed to sin and cannot control it. In fact, he is a sinner. However, the Christian lives unto righteousness; that is, he has right standing with God and the ability to do righteousness. In other words, he has the ability to know what God wants and does what pleases God. Healing has been eternally paid for us and any time we feel weak, let us declare this very scripture to secure our healing. Eternal healing was committed to us on the cross, and that is why the apostle Peter used the past perfect tense: truly we were healed, amen.

THANKS GIVING IN THE LORD.

"Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Ephesians 5:20"

The apostle Paul had a good habit of giving thanks to God always. He did so for the saints and also for what God was using him for. He has given believers in Christ Jesus a good example of how to walk with the Lord. It is not helpful to complain, murmur, and cry; these will not bring the solutions you need. Rather, giving thanks to God in every circumstance enhances the flow of God's power to help you in times of need. Dear reader, how many times do you give thanks to God in a day?

REFUGE AND FORTRESS.

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1"

A refuge is a shelter or protection from danger and a fortress is a fortified place; therefore, the Psalmist says God is our shelter and fortified place. Although most of us live in physical shelters and sometimes these shelters are fortified, having God as shelter and fortification is greater than all else. His Word is our secret place of comfort and we must trust the Word of God as the scriptures are still potent and relevant to our generation. Let us trust the Word and use it as the solution to our challenges. Dear reader, who is your refuge and fortress?

WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE.

"(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 2 Corinthians 10:4"

The Christian has many weapons to fight the enemy, both within and without. The enemy uses our mind as a field to sow negative thoughts; these negative and unprofitable thoughts fight the good thoughts that the Lord puts in our minds. Some of these strongholds are those beliefs and philosophies we held onto before and after salvation which are not founded on the Word of God. The Christian has many weapons: the Word of God, faith, speaking in tongues, meditation on scripture and confessing them, prayer, etc. These are mighty enough to destroy every arrow and scheme of the devil. Dear reader, have you ever tried these weapons?
