A Day of Grace and Thanksgiving! 🙏✨

On 30 June, our monastic community was filled with immense joy as we celebrated a truly blessed and unforgettable occasion.

By the grace of God, four of our confreres received Sacred Orders:

- Two Brothers were ordained to the Sacred Order of Diaconate.
- Two Deacons were ordained to the Sacred Order of Priesthood.

The celebration was joyful, prayerful, and deeply inspiring—a remarkable witness to God's faithfulness and the generosity of those who have responded to His call. We give thanks to the Lord for this precious gift to the Church and to our Benedictine community.

Please keep our newly ordained deacons and priests in your prayers, that they may serve God's people with humility, wisdom, and faithful love.

A Day of Grace and Thanksgiving at Our Monastery
On 30 May, our monastic community was filled with great joy as we celebrated a beautiful and memorable milestone in the lives of our confreres.
By the grace of God, ten confreres made their profession of vows:
Five novices joyfully made their First Monastic Profession.
Five brothers faithfully made their Solemn (Final) Profession, offering themselves completely to God for life according to the Rule of Saint Benedict.
It was a truly remarkable celebration, marked by prayer, thanksgiving, and the joyful presence of our community, families, and friends. We thank God for the gift of these vocations and pray that He may strengthen our brothers in their lifelong commitment to seek Him above all things.

"I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all His people." — Psalm 116:14
May the Lord, who has begun this good work in them, bring it to completion. Let us continue to keep our newly professed brothers in our prayers as they faithfully walk the Benedictine way of prayer, work, and service.

Today, with hearts full of gratitude and joy, we celebrate a blessed milestone — 25 years since Mvimwa Holy Spirit Abbey was raised from a Conventual Priory to the dignity of an Abbey. This historic grace was granted on the Solemnity of the Annunciation, a day when the Church remembers Mary’s humble “Yes” to God, through which the Word became flesh.

That moment of elevation was not by chance, but by divine providence. Just as the Blessed Virgin Mary accepted her mission with faith and trust, so too our community was called to a deeper responsibility — to grow in prayer, stability, and service as an Abbey. The Annunciation continues to remind us that every vocation is born from listening, obedience, and a generous “Yes” to God’s will.

Over the years, our Marian devotion has blossomed beautifully within Mvimwa Holy Spirit Abbey. We give special thanks for the gift of our Marian Shrine, a sacred place that stands as a testimony of our love for Our Lady. It has become a center of prayer, pilgrimage, and spiritual renewal, drawing many closer to Christ through His Mother. Through her intercession, our Abbey has remained steadfast, nourished in faith, and strengthened in its mission.

As we mark these 25 years, we remember with deep gratitude all who have walked this journey — the pioneers who laid the foundation, the brothers who nurtured the growth, and all who continue to sustain this living tradition of Benedictine life. Truly, the Lord has done great things for us, and we rejoice in His faithfulness.

Happy 25th Anniversary to Mvimwa Holy Spirit Abbey!
May the Lord continue to pour out His grace upon our community, strengthen our commitment to prayer and service, and lead us ever deeper into His love. Through the maternal care of the Blessed Virgin Mary, may we always respond with a faithful “Yes” to God in all things.

The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 AM,

✨ A Light on the Hill: Building Our Future Together ✨

​In the spirit of today’s Gospel, we are thrilled to share how the Abbey is working to let its light shine before others. Through your prayers and support, we are transforming "salt and light" into brick, mortar, and flowing water.
​Here is a glimpse of the delightful progress unfolding across our grounds:
​🏗️ 1. The Abbey Church
​The heart of our community is growing! We are seeing incredible progress on the church construction. Every stone laid is a testament to our faith, and we can’t wait to welcome you all into this sacred space soon.
​🛣️ 2. Marian Shrine Road
​To ensure every pilgrim has a smooth journey to our Mother, the construction of the new road to the Marian Shrine is well underway. We are clearing the path for prayer and reflection.
​🏥 3. New Hospital Building
​Our mission to heal is expanding. The walls of the new hospital wing are rising steadily, bringing us one step closer to providing enhanced care and comfort to those in need.
​💧 4. Village Water Project
​Following the call to love our neighbors, our water project for the surrounding village is moving forward. Bringing clean, accessible water to our brothers and sisters is how we truly "flavor" the world with God’s love.
​Let us keep the momentum going! We are not meant to be hidden, but to be a city set on a hill that brings glory to our Father in heaven.

A Journey of Joy: Our January Epiphany ✨
​As we journey through this month of beginnings, our Abbey family feels like the Magi following the Star of Bethlehem. Just as the three wise men reached the climax of their journey at the feet of Baby Jesus, we find ourselves at a "climax of joy" with three monumental blessings that have graced our community this January.
​🌟 1. A Gift of Service: New Deacons
​We celebrate the Diaconate Ordination of our brothers, Dn. Cornlard Songoro, OSB and Dn. Felix Liberatus, OSB. Their "Yes" to God’s call strengthens our mission and brings fresh zeal to our community. We pray that they serve the People of God with the same humility and love as St. Benedict.
​🏗️ 2. A Gift of Sanctuary: Our Abbey Church
​The physical heart of our community is rising! The progression of our Abbey Church construction is a testament to faith and providence. Stone by stone, we are building a house of prayer that will stand for generations to come as a beacon of peace.
​🏠 3. A Gift of Future: The New Girls’ Dormitory
​Under the guidance of our founder, Fr. Gualbert Mgaya, OSB, we have officially opened the new girls' dormitory at our VTC College. Providing a safe, supportive environment for young women to learn and grow is a vital part of our commitment to education and empowerment.

​Like the Magi, we offer these three milestones back to the Lord as our "gold, frankincense, and myrrh." One is a gift of leadership, one of worship, and one of charity.
