Why would participants be on their phones during a workshop? Checking Facebook? Whatsapping?

We're running a word collection workshop for the Kiroba language, which is closely related to Simbiti and other close-by languages. And it's not easy to know all the words in your own language, therefore participants are constantly 'phoning a friend' to check the meaning of certain words. :)

Yesterday we farewelled some of our veterans - Tim and Chris Gilmore. They have served the Mara Cluster for the last 9 years and it will be hard to see them go, but we're thankful for the legacy they leave behind. We are praying that God would encourage them and provide for their every need as they start a new chapter serving his kingdom. Mungu awabariki!

What a week it's been! After four days of meeting with our language committees, today we were joined by the Advisory Council of church leaders. What an honour to gather together with these men and women of God to discuss our common vision to bring God's Word into the heart languages of the people of the Mara Region!

Zinza Community Checkers in Kasisa village, Tanzania.

Praise God for all of those who partner with us to ensure that Scripture gets translated accurately into their languages! These community members are reading through and discussing the recent translation of the books of Philippians and Ephesians into the Zinza language. How exciting that in doing this work, these men are living out the very Scripture they're discussing. Philippians 1:3-6 reads, "Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God…for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now! And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns." We're truly partnering together in spreading the Good News!

Our Team Leader and his family have been on a trip out to some Zinza villages this week. It's good that they brought some Zinza scripture books, calendars, and Jesus Film DVD's with them, because they were selling them like "hotcakes" out in the villages on Sunday! It's always such a joy to be part of people receiving God's word in their heart language for the first time!

Fantastic video celebrating a people group to the north of us in South Sudan. What a joy to see this translation completed and in the hands of these people!

"God is not a foreigner anymore. Jesus is one of us. He can talk direct" - - Rev. Samuel Bennett, mother tongue translator of the Baka New Testament.

Praise God! The Baka New Testament was dedicated after more than 30 years of work despite civil war, displacement and more. Watch the story of God's faithfulness to the Baka: http://ow.ly/L6U130gJhOS

The Mara Cluster enjoyed some office worship and prayer time today as we came together to celebrate Wycliffe World Day of Prayer. We even had our own 'in house' choir! The theme was 'God of the impossible' - "What is impossible with man is possible with God" (Luke 18:27). Join us in praying for the people living in the Mara region who are still waiting for the Bible in their heart language.

It’s been a great week for the Mara Cluster! What better way to end it with than by enjoying a presentation about the work of Bible translation in Papua New Guinea? Our guest, Bart Sikkema from Wycliffe Netherlands, visited there recently and had wonderful pictures and stories to tell. Our staff was so encouraged and curious to see the same kind of work happening in a different location and culture. God’s Word is spreading! Photo credit Bart Sikkema
