Main Theme: “There Remains Yet Much Land to Be Possessed”

God’s purpose is not limited to one nation such as Tanzania; His desire is that the whole world knows Him. According to Gospel of John 10:10, while the devil seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, God’s plan is to restore life everywhere. Therefore believers are called to respond to the great mission of spreading the Good News to all nations.

The Kingdom of God has a King and a realm. God is the King and the earth belongs to Him. Book of Genesis 1:1–2 and Book of Psalms 24:1–2 show that God created the earth and owns everything in it. Human beings were created in God’s image to represent Him and rule the earth according to His will. God also assigns people to specific places for His purposes.

However, humanity’s fall began with Adam when sin entered the world. This rebellion brought consequences such as shame and guilt. Even so, God still showed mercy and blessings despite the curse. As sin increased from Genesis 4–6, humanity moved further from God. Later, the nations began to spread as seen in Genesis 10, but rebellion appeared again during the event of the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11. Babel was destroyed because people rebelled against God’s mission.

Despite human rebellion, God did not abandon His mission. His great mission includes:

1. To give Himself glory.

2. To bless His creation.

3. To defeat evil.

4. To establish His Kingdom on earth.

Jesus taught believers to pray according to God’s priorities, as seen in Gospel of Matthew 6:9 and 9:38, and Gospel of Luke 10:2. Christians are encouraged to pray kingdom-focused prayers and participate in God’s work of reaching the world.

A key principle emphasized is that for a Christian, success is obedience to God. Adam’s failure came through disobedience, which removed him from God’s presence in Eden.

The Kingdom of God can also be understood in three dimensions:

1. Depth – personal transformation and Christ-like character (Epistle to the Galatians 4:19).

2. Breadth – reaching unreached people groups with the Gospel (Gospel of Matthew 24:14).

3. Height – transforming society so that God’s rule is reflected in the world.

ABOUT KIUT CHAPEL

Chapel History and Current Status

The KIUT Chapel was originally started in 2011, in response to a directive from Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) that there must be a religious institution within the University, as a requirement for being awarded a charter.

It was initially an interdenominational gathering that brought together all the Christian religions present at the time, i.e. Protestants, Catholics, Seventh Day Adventists, and Pentecostals. It had its Pastor, Mrs. Owolabi who was the wife to the then Principal of the Constituent College, other leaders included; Ms. Karen, Mr. Ali, Ms. Lulu, and Mr. Sizya, who were all staff members then, most of whom have since left the Institution. The intention of the Chapel was to be in service to both the students and staff as well as to the surrounding community.

Due to the different nature of the religious groups, the amalgamation could not stand for long, causing the different groups after a short while to separate and go their own ways, leaving KIUT Chapel as a place of worship mostly for the Pentecostals and others who wanted to be part of it. Mrs. Owolabi remained on as the Pastor and following the loss of her husband, she passed on the torch to Mr. Ogah, who was the Director of Quality Assurance at the time. Mr. Ogah was assisted by Mr. Joshua who was working in the Library, and Ms. Judith Atukwatse, who was then the HoD of Social Sciences. At that point, the students were not so involved in the running/management of the Chapel affairs as there had been a few disagreements between them and the Chapel management that were not resolved. The membership of the Chapel mainly comprised of staff members.
