CHRISTOPHER, FROM A YOUNG MAASAI WARRIOR TO A MAN OF GOD .
Christopher’s journey to Christ, and to becoming a pastor has not been an easy one.
As a young Maasai man, his family expected him to remain in the village, care for their cows and goats, and follow the traditional path of a Maasai warrior. His parents were not believers, and becoming a follower of Jesus was never the future they had imagined for him.
But God had a different plan.
Christopher later went to town to work as a houseboy. It was there that he began attending outdoor crusades, and one day, he gave his life to Jesus. That decision changed the direction of his life.
He went on to Bible school, grew in the Word, and eventually became a pastor.
But becoming a pastor did not make the journey easier.
Christopher faced resistance from his own family, his close people, spiritual attacks, and many difficult moments in ministry. His father would often ask him to leave pastoral ministry and return to their home village in Tanga. His family struggled to understand how being a pastor could provide a meaningful future, especially when they saw the economic challenges he was facing.
At one point in 2024 the pressure became so heavy that Christopher seriously considered quitting pastoral ministry and returning home.
That was a defining moment.
Jackson had to sit down with Christopher and his wife, and together they talked through the struggles, the calling, the challenges, and the future. He encouraged Christopher not to give up on what God had called him to do. Through that conversation, Christopher’s faith was strengthened, and he made the decision to continue serving God.
Not long after that, God opened another door.
We were able to build a church in Ngene village, one of the Maasai communities where God had given us the opportunity to serve. Christopher became the pastor of that church, and today he is faithfully serving among his own people.
Christopher is now married with two beautiful little girls, and his life is a testimony of God’s faithfulness.
From a young Maasai warrior whose family expected him to follow a completely different path, to a man of God shepherding a church among his own people—what a journey.
Sometimes God calls us away from the path people expect us to follow and leads us into a purpose they cannot yet see. Christopher’s story reminds us that the call of God does not always come with an easy road. There may be resistance, rejection, financial challenges, spiritual battles, and moments when giving up seems easier than continuing.
But when God calls, He also gives grace to keep going.We are honored to walk alongside this young man of God. May the Lord continue to strengthen Christopher, his wife and daughters, and the church entrusted to his care.
And may his life continue to be a testimony that when Jesus changes one life, He can use that life to reach an entire community.
