The sad reality of our world! While I am inclined to blame the villagers of my home village in Ulanga for this burning of mountainous forests to clear the land for farming, I also realize it is a survival tactic. The farming on lower land is no longer an option to produce enough food, as the land has become drier including dried river beds due to long practice of cutting trees that preserved wetness near sources of water. So mountainous farming is not as it used to be, as an addition but a necessary compliment to lower land farming. Climate change is real and is forcing farmers into even more dangerous practices. Living the laudato see is hard but is the only option for driving into the future!
