ELCT NWD

ELCT NWD News from the ELCT NWD The North Western Diocese is part of the national Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Tanzania.

The diocesan operations are spread in two regions of Kagera and Geita in
the districts of Misenye, Bukoba rural, Bukoba Urban, Muleba, Biharamuro and
Chato. The purpose of the diocese revolves around preaching and teaching the word
of salvation as well as administering the holy sacrament; to grow and develop
capabilities in the life and work of the Church; and to serve the Kingdom of God in
collab

oration with other Churches and development actors in Tanzania and abroad. In its hundred years of existence the ELCT/NWD has provided services in a number of
domains including evangelism, education, health, diaconia, development, and
stewardship to men, women and youth of different religions and denominations. This is explained by a number of institutions and programs developed and run by the
diocese in the two regions mentioned above and the impact these have had on the
lives of people in different walks of life is enormous. Some the institutions in
reference include hospitals, health centres and dispensaries, diaconical centres,
hotel and restaurants, vocational training centres, schools and of late a University
College.
