Hope Workers' Center (希望職工中心) We educate & assist migrants on their rights & lobby the government for fair employment conditions

The Hope Workers’ Center (HWC) was founded by the Missionary Society of St. Columban in 1986 to educate local workers and to do advocacy and lobbying. Soon, irregular migrant workers came to the Center for assistance as well.

Hey everyone! Mama Mary’s birthday is coming! 😃

As we joyfully prepare to celebrate the birthday of our Blessed Mother on September 8, we warmly invite everyone to join us this Sunday, September 6, for a special Flower Offering to Mama Mary during the recitation of the Holy Rosary before the 10:30 AM Mass.

Let us come together to celebrate our Blessed Mother through our prayers, devotion, and floral offerings. We kindly encourage everyone to bring flowers as a personal gift of love, gratitude, and devotion to Mama Mary. 🌹

Season of Creation 2026 | September 1 – October 4 🌏

This Season of Creation, we at Hope Workers’ Center (HWC) join the global community in prayer and reflection, giving thanks for the gift of God’s creation and renewing our commitment to care for our common home.

As migrant workers living and working here in Taiwan, we pray that we may become instruments of God’s love for creation. In our own small and simple ways, may we become more conscious of how our daily choices affect the environment—by reducing waste, caring for our surroundings, using resources responsibly, and encouraging one another to protect the beautiful world entrusted to us.

Caring for creation is not something that only others can do. Each of us has a part to play. Every small action, when done with love and shared with others, can become a meaningful contribution to a more sustainable future.

May this Season of Creation inspire us to see creation not only as something to be protected, but as God’s precious gift that we are called to cherish and care for together.

🌱 Migrant workers, together with all people, let us care for our common home.

🙏 May our prayers become action, and may our actions become a sign of our love for God, for one another, and for creation.

Christians around the world unite in prayer and action for our comm...

Visit of Vatican Delegates to the Hope Worker Center
On August 22, the Hope Worker Center (HWC) was honored to welcome a distinguished delegation from the Vatican and the Church:
• H.Em. Cardinal Álvaro Leonel Ramazzini Imeri, Cardinal Archbishop of Guatemala
• Fr. Prof. Aldo Skoda, Scalabrinian Missionary, Pontifical Urbaniana University
• Prof. Gioacchino Campese, Scalabrinian Missionary, Pontifical Urbaniana University
• Dr. Veronica De Sanctis, Visiting Professor, Rome American University
• Mr. Paco Huang (黃俊榮公使)
• Bishop John Baptist Lee
The delegation visited the Diocese of Hsinchu to learn about its ministry with migrant workers and new immigrants. The Hope Worker Center was chosen as the venue for sharing pastoral experiences, challenges, needs, and responses in accompanying migrant communities.
Sr. Joyce and Sr. Marnie shared their pastoral experiences and the current needs of migrant workers. Ms. Lydia Nieh presented prevention strategies, legal protection, and concerns related to migrant workers. Fr. Peter Nguyen shared the Center’s advocacy and shelter support. Fr. Andrew highlighted collaboration among dioceses, Church groups, civil society, and service partners. Joan and Minhui shared about pastoral and social support for new immigrants and their families.
The exchange was a meaningful opportunity to strengthen collaboration and renew our commitment to accompanying migrant workers, new immigrants, and their families.
The Hope Worker Center has served migrant workers and new immigrants since 1986, and this year we celebrate our 40th anniversary. Migrant ministry is also one of the priorities of Bishop John Baptist Lee’s diocesan pastoral plan, particularly in promoting the welcome and inclusion of migrants in parishes.
The visit was an encouraging reminder of the importance of walking together and strengthening the Church’s pastoral response to migrant communities.

Interwoven: Seeing migrant workers through the lens of our common home
The deeper question isn't how we fix nature or reform labour systems, as important as those things are. It's whether we're willing to really see that our lives are bound up with each other. Every choice we make - as consumers, as citizens, as people of faith sends ripples further than we can trace. Read more: https://tinyurl.com/y9wpuce8

We conducted a two-day seminar (August 9 and 16) for our catechists and teachers. We are grateful for their generous “yes” to the call to serve and share the faith with others. We continue to pray for more people to hear God’s call and generously respond by becoming catechists.

Thanks to Sr. Rev and Sr. Docilis, who served as our resource speakers.
