Welcome to Taipei International Church in Dazhi, 10:30am this Sunday, May 3. On April 12, 1453 around 8,000 Byzantines watched from inside the walls of Constantinople as a Muslim Ottoman force of 80,000 began its artillery barrage with 60 - 70 canons of various sizes. For the next 55 days Ottoman cannons fired on the walls creating huge cracks that needed to be filled by the defenders each night. The Ottomans burned through 55,000 pounds of gunpowder — a shocking amount in the 15th century. Over 5,000 stones had been hurled at the walls day and night. Finally Constantinople fell after having stood for 1123 years.
We live in an instant society where we want everything done yesterday. Rushing is the key to making more money but in God's economy building faithfully, little by little is the key. In our own lives what areas do we need to simply continue building in, is it daily devotions, faith, generosity, serving or gratitude. This Sunday we will see the importance of being faithful in little so that it can grow into something substantial.
