台北臨水宮原於信義路上，後因日據時代台北監獄之刑場，槍決許多人犯。致使百多年來，無數人命，命喪華光社區。及日據時代之武道場（武德殿）失火造成許多人員傷亡，後被軍方王姓中將作為官邸（臨水宮之圍牆既為武德殿之前庭院舊圍牆已有百年歷史）。於60年間應軍方要求及奉神旨移宮駐駕於現址，鎮煞鎮壓暴戾之氣並保地方平安。供奉著順天聖母陳太后。當年是靠著信徒百元千元的捐贈，點滴而成。台北臨水宮對當地居民來說，不僅是當地的信仰中心，更是集會中心，香火不曾間斷。
