1).有工作,卻沒有平安;
2).有收入,卻沒有滿足;
不只是活著,而是活得有供應;
耶和華欲賞賜氣力互伊的百姓;
風暴不一定立刻停止,但神會賜下力量;
Live a Abundant Life 2
John 10:10
Thieves come merely to steal, kill, and destroy; I have come to give the sheep life, and to give it abundantly.
One, in modern society,
Many people believe that a fulfilling life is:
1. The house is bigger.
2. More Deposits
3. Higher Status
4. More Renowned
Because these things might be possible, yet my heart remains hollow. Yet he was still not happy.
One, abundance is alive, not just about living.
Many people hustle and bustle every day just to make ends meet.
Get up in the morning to work,
Going home to sleep at night, day after day.
Body alive, soul withered.
1. Jesus said:
The purpose of my coming = I want the sheep to have life.
My purpose for coming = to give people a more abundant life.
To live a life with three meanings:
◎ With direction
◎ Meaningful
◎ Hopeful
2. Biblical Background
(John 10:10) Jesus used the term "good shepherd" to describe himself.
①In the Palestinian region,
The shepherd not only leads the flock, but more importantly:
1). To protect the flock
2)Feeding the flock
3)Finding the Lost Sheep
②Jesus said: I am the good shepherd,
This sentence represents His two intentions towards the sheep:
Not just letting the sheep barely survive:
◎ In the era of shepherds,
If sheep leave the shepherd, they are likely to encounter:
●. Beast attack
●. Lost direction
●. Lack of food
●. Fall into danger.
3. The shepherd's first responsibility is to keep the sheep alive.
Today is no exception; many people's lives are simply:
※ Just living
※ Busy, that's all.
※ Just holding on
Striving for life every day, yet finding no joy in my heart.
1). There's a job, but no peace;
2). With income but no satisfaction;
3). Having friends, yet still feeling lonely.
This was not the intention behind God's initial creation of humanity.
4. The shepherd's second responsibility is to ensure that the sheep can live abundantly.
Jesus said:
I have come to give the sheep life, and to give it more abundantly.
①The original meaning of the word "abundance" is:
Filled with
Overflowing
Exceeding the required meaning.
Jesus does not want us to live, but to live out the value of our lives.
②The scriptures of Psalm 23 say:
David said: The Lord is my shepherd; I will not lack.
The two important tasks of a good shepherd:
1). Not just saving the sheep from danger,
2). More importantly, guide the sheep to:
◎. Guide to the green grassland
◎. Guide to a tranquil water's edge
Not just living, but living with supply;
Not just existing, but living in peace.
Two types of characters appear in the text (John 10:10).
One is a thief.
One is Jesus (the Good Shepherd)
1. What does the thief come for?
● Theft
● Murder
● Destruction
What did Jesus come for?
Call the sheep to life
A more abundant life.
2. The thief is trying to steal life.
Thieves represent all forces that keep people away from God.
(1)Four descriptions of theft:
● Sin
● Satan's Temptation
● Misguided Values
● Greed and Selfishness
(2)Thieves steal from people's hearts:
There is peace = there is joy
Hope = confidence
Today, many people live outside but lose their vitality inside.
3. Did Jesus come not to show us how?
Just living
Just work
Busy making money:
Jesus came so that people might have true life.
(1)What is abundant life?
◎ Reconciliation with God
◎ Forgiveness of sins
◎ Peaceful Heart
◎ Live Your Life Direction
Jesus said: I am the way, the truth, and the life.
The true source of life is in Jesus Christ.
Three, Jesus wants people to live more abundantly in the next life.
Abundance is not just about increasing wealth, savings, or houses.
1. The abundance in the Bible includes:
◎ The abundance that Jesus spoke of,
Not a life without storms,
And yet, a life filled with confidence despite the storms.
The abundance of confidence refers to what?
Isn't it true that one will never encounter difficulties in their lifetime?
Will you never cry in a lifetime?
Has there never been a failure in life?
◎ Rather, we believe,
Even with storms, difficulties, and risks, I still believe that God is in control in my heart.
2. Examples from the Bible include disciples encountering storms.
Once the disciples encountered a strong wind and waves at sea.
The waves crashed into the boat, which was about to sink.
Disciples cried out in panic: Lord, we are perishing!
(1)Jesus, however, calmed the wind and the sea.
The disciples finally realized: the Lord had been on the boat all along.
Life is like that sometimes:
◎ Suffering suddenly struck.
◎ Work is facing difficulties
◎. Family issues arise
◎ The future is full of unknowns.
(2)We are afraid and worried,
Even doubts might arise.
①Faith as described in the Bible
It's not that I'm not afraid.
Rather, it says:
Although I am afraid, I still believe in God.
Not saying:
I don't have a problem.
Rather, it is said that while there are issues, God is greater than the problems.
②Psalm 29:11
The Lord intends to reward a people with mutual strength;
The Lord intends to bless His people with peace.
The storm may not stop immediately, but God will bestow strength;
The environment may not change immediately, but God will grant peace.
Conclusion:
Winds and waves can shake a boat, but they cannot shake your faith in relying on God.
People filled with confidence,
Not someone without difficulties; rather, someone who still believes in God despite the challenges.

他被哥哥出賣,被帶到埃及作奴隸;
明明在奴隸的身分裡,神卻說他興盛;
人看外面的成功,神看裡面的生命;
使約瑟失去了自由,卻沒有失去神的同在;
使約瑟失去了地位,卻沒有失去神的恩典;
不是站在王宮裡才算興盛;
人的成功看地位,神的興盛看同在;
Live a fulfilling life
Dear brother,
I wish you prosperity in all things,
Body strong,
Just as your soul flourishes.
One, Text Background
This is a letter from the Apostle John to Judas.
John knew that Judas was a lover of the Lord,
Love the church,
Those who walk in truth therefore offer blessings at the beginning of the letter.
1. Scripture Explanation:
The phrase "prosperity in everything" is not limited to:
Promotion and wealth accumulation,
Wealth increase
Blessed and Prosperous
Economic prosperity
Safe journey.
Actually, the meaning of "prosperity in all things" in the Bible is broader and deeper than money.
Just like a ship sailing smoothly to its destination,
Without deviating from the right direction, this is prosperity.
So prosperity does not have to be
Having a lot,
Earned a lot
Let you do as you please.
2. Prosperity in the Bible,
The emphasis is on walking with God, which brings prosperity.
①For example, Joseph.
He was betrayed by his brother and taken to Egypt as a slave;
Loyal service to the master, yet wrongfully accused and imprisoned.
From a human perspective:
❌ Joseph did not advance in rank.
❌ Joseph did not get rich.
❌ Joseph had no freedom
❌ Joseph has no future.
Not at all like someone who thrives on everything.
②But the Bible records it this way:
(Genesis 39:2) The Lord was with Joseph, and he succeeded in all his endeavors.
Don't you find that strange?
Clearly in his slave status, God said he was thriving;
Clearly in prison, the gods said he was doing well.
Because God sees prosperity differently from how humans see prosperity.
So it flourished
It's not about whether the environment is good or not, but whether God is with us.
3. People look at the external world:
High status = depends on how great the power is
How much money is there = how much wealth there is
Not particularly well-known = How many people know you
People see external success, while gods see internal life;
People see how much they have, and God sees what kind of person you become.
①Although the prison,
Joseph lost his freedom, yet he did not lose God's presence;
②Suffering, although
Joseph lost his status, yet he did not lose God's grace;
③Joseph, though lost,
Owner's affirmation,
The status given by the master
Instead, it was God who prepared Joseph to undertake a greater mission.
It seemed to bestow a greater blessing upon Joseph, making him the prime minister of Egypt.
The meaning of this phrase is,
It's not true prosperity only by standing in the palace;
Sometimes,
Those who still walk with God in prison are truly prosperous.
Human success is measured by status, while divine prosperity is measured by presence;
Human eyes see the results, divine eyes see life.
Two, (3 John 2) This is a letter from the Apostle John to Judas.
1. John hopes that Judas will receive three kinds of blessings:
①Family Blessings:
Family members love each other
The family is filled with peace, and faith is passed down through generations.
②Work is going smoothly
Being protected by God in the workplace
Work honestly and responsibly, becoming a blessing to others
③Physical health:
The body is a vessel given by God.
Health is not something taken for granted but a blessing from God.
Therefore, you should cherish your body:
1. Maintain health
2. Appropriate Rest
3. Managing Life
Having a healthy body is essential for serving God well.
Three, Thriving Souls
This is the core of the entire verse (3 John 2).
1. John did not say:
May your soul flourish as much as your wealth.
John, on the other hand, said:
May your body and life flourish as much as your soul.
2. What does spiritual prosperity entail?
The first is Cupid
The second is drawing close to God
The third is submission to God
The fourth is to live out God's truth
The fifth is to love brothers and sisters as much as you love yourself.
A truly blessed person,
Not just external success, but internal abundance as well.
3. If God were to use this verse today to examine ourselves:
May your body and life be like your soul.
So there are three things you should pay attention to:
Is my spiritual life healthy?
We are very concerned about our physical health,
Blood pressure will be measured, blood glucose will be checked, and health checks will be conducted.
But how many people care about their spiritual health?
Is there still something in my life:
Are you happy? Are you safe?
Are you looking forward to it? Is it out of love?
Still, my heart has already:
● Cold now?
● Tired?
●. Away from God?
The body needs a health check, and so does the spiritual life.
2. Do I draw near to God every day?
Even the best relationship can grow distant if we don't keep in touch for a long time.
God longs to establish a close relationship with us.
Therefore, I must ask myself:
◎ How long has it been since I last read the scriptures?
◎ How long has it been since I last prayed quietly?
◎ Have I placed God at the forefront of my life?
The growth of one's spiritual life does not come from a Sunday gathering, but from walking with God every day.
3. Am I living in the truth of God?
Knowing the truth is one thing, following it is another.
Faith is not just:
Listen to the Dao once
Check the scriptures once
Recite the Bible once
Faith is more important than living out God's word.
The ultimate purpose of life,
Not to honor oneself, but to honor God.
So, Paul said:
Whether you eat or drink, or do anything else, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31)
Conclusion:
What John said
Prosperity in everything is not limited to pockets:
John reminds us:
The greatest prosperity is the flourishing of the soul.
Because good health can help people live longer,
The health of one's soul makes life more meaningful

沒有人的建築物只是房子;
推基古要將這事都告訴你們;
歌羅西書 4:9 還有一位親愛忠心的弟兄阿尼西母同去;
卻不一定有忠心;
Daily Devotion at Dongshan Elder Church in Tainan on June 3, 2026
Theme: Supporting One Another in the Lord
One, Text Background
Paul wrote the last paragraph of Colossians,
Paul did not delve into esoteric theology but instead mentioned the names of many fellow workers.
1. This passage shows us:
The church is not just one person's ministry,
The gospel is not something that can be accomplished by one person alone.
God through different people,
Different gifts,
Different roles,
Together, we fulfill His mission.
Therefore, Colossians' final greeting is actually a picture of "workforce service."
2. Consider three questions:
First question: Everyone has some special people in their life.
It might be:
Parents = Teacher
Pastor = Elder
Good friend = group leader
They may not give you a lot of money, but they encourage you when you're in trouble.
Remind you when you get lost,
Support you when you fall.
Guide thinking
1)How did he influence you in the past?
2)What life lessons does he teach you?
3)What would your life be like without his help?
4)Paul also had many such people in his life, such as Tecki, Luke, Epaphras, and others.
The second question:
Do you think the church is more important than buildings or people?
The church needs buildings, but it is not equivalent to a building.
1. The Bible tells us:
You are the body of Christ, and each of you is a member of the body. (1 Corinthians 12:27)
Buildings without people are just houses;
There is God with us,
Where brothers and sisters love each other, that is the true church.
2. Guiding Thinking
◎ If a church is beautiful but lacks love, is it still considered a healthy church?
◎ If the gathering place is simple but filled with care and faith, does that count as a church?
◎ The church is not cement but life; it is not a building but a relationship.
The third question:
Have you ever been moved by someone's concern?
Perhaps a greeting: How have you been lately?
Perhaps it was a phone call: asking about your situation, I am praying for you.
Perhaps a visit,
A meal,
A hug.
Sometimes, a simple act of concern can become a force in someone else's life.
1. Guiding Thinking
When was that? What impact does that person's concern have on you?
Can you also become someone who cares about others today?
Paul mentions many fellow workers at the end of Colossians, showing us:
The gospel is not just about preaching,
Furthermore, it is a life of mutual care and support.
Two, Faithful Transmitters (4:7-9)
Colossians 4:7 says: There is everything I have to tell you,
Pushing Jigu will tell you everything about this;
1. Paul describes Tycho with three terms:
①Dear brother,
They have a deep spiritual bond.
It's not just about working together; it's also about being part of the family in the Lord.
②Loyal Steward
He is reliable and trustworthy in his service.
What God values are not necessarily those with the greatest power, but those who remain faithful to the end.
③Servant of the Lord together
He showed that he served the Lord with Paul.
Not Paul's servant, but Jesus's servant.
God values loyalty, not status.
2. What was Anisim's original identity?
Colossians 4:9 There was also a dear and faithful brother, Anisimus, who went with him;
He is also from your place.
From Philemon, we know:
Anisimus was originally a slave.
1. He had left his master Philemon and later met Paul in Rome, where he believed in the Lord and was saved.
After believing in the Lord, Anisimus's life was completely transformed.
Paul no longer called him a slave,
And call him dear brother, faithful brother.
2. A person's past cannot determine their future.
In Christ,
Life can be renewed.
3. What did Paul send them to Colossae for?
Colossians 4:7-8 Paul said, "I have specially sent them to you,"
So that you may know our situation and comfort your hearts.
1. Paul's two main purposes:
①Report on Paul's Recent Condition
Paul was imprisoned in Rome at the time. The Colossian church must be very concerned about him.
◎ Therefore, Pythagorean and Anisimus:
● Transmitting Letters
● Report Recent Updates
● Share the progress of gospel work
②Comfort and Strengthening the Church
Paul knew the church needed encouragement.
◎ So we sent fellow workers to:
Concern for believers
Strengthen confidence
Encourage believers to uphold the truth
Gospel ministry is not just about conveying messages; it is also about showing care.
Sometimes a visit,
Sometimes a word of encouragement,
Sometimes a moment of companionship,
They can all become someone else's strength.
Three, Group Discussion
Colossians 4:7-9
1. Which trait do you think is most worth learning from Pushkigu?
Loyalty
Paul calls him:
Dear brothers, faithful deacons, serving as servants of the Lord together.
Loyalty doesn't have to be grandiose,
Yet he devoted himself entirely to what God had entrusted to him.
Today, many people have received gifts,
but not necessarily loyal;
Having the ability, but not necessarily a lasting commitment.
What matters to the divine is not how successful you are, but how loyal you are.
1). Am I faithful in my service?
2). Am I willing to be faithful in small matters?
3). Loyalty is shown in the smallest matters, and also in great ones. "(Luke 16:10)"
2. What encouragement does Anisima's life change offer you?
Anisimus originally was,
A runaway servant appears hopeless to humans.
But when he met Jesus,
Life has been completely transformed.
①Paul no longer referred to him as a servant but as:
Dear faithful brother.
The encouragement God gives us is not about your past, but whether you are willing to be changed by Him.
②Perhaps you have learned from the scriptures:
Past failures
Past weaknesses existed.
Past harm
But in Christ, life can still be restarted. If someone is in Christ, they are a new creation. "(2 Corinthians 5:17)"

Strength and Peace
Introduction: This is an era of pursuing power.
Some people pursue the power of wealth,
Some people pursue the power of networking.
Some pursue the power of knowledge,
Some people pursue the power of authority.
But only at the end of life do we realize:
Wealth is limited,
Limited ability,
Wisdom is limited,
Physical strength is also limited.
Therefore, people need a greater source of strength.

One, there is a book called The Book of Wisdom.
This book is the Bible.
The Bible is not just a religious book,
1. The Bible is also a book of wisdom:
1. The Book of Strength,
2. Balanced Books,
Books that unleash one's potential, books that transcend human limits.

The Bible is God's word:
The Word of God = The Power of God
The Word of God = The Wisdom of God
The Word of God = God's plan.

Reading God's word can bring potential to people,
that can change a person's life,
able to change people's minds,
Bringing hope to people.
God is the source of our strength.

Five popular phrases in the church:
The power of God's word,
The power of prayer,
The power of the Holy Spirit,
The power of praise, the ability to worship.

3. The Bible is God's word.
The Word of God = God's Power
God said, "There is light,"
And there was light.
The Word of God itself carries power.

The Word of God = God's Wisdom
Human wisdom is limited, but divine wisdom is always complete.
The Word of God = God's Plan
When people do not know the future, God's word becomes a lamp at their feet and a light on the road.

Strength comes from;
This verse contains two important promises:
The Lord will give strength to His people;
The Lord will bless His people with peace.
One, the first promise: the power bestowed by God.
What is strength?
Not muscle strength.
Not wealth power.
Not power and influence.
When people are weak, God gives them the strength to keep going.

What is strength?
When you face illness
When you face failure
When you face pressure
When you face loss
God still enables people to stand firm.

2. The power mentioned in the Bible:
It is the ability to rely on God to overcome the environment.
Isaiah 40:31 The prophet Isaiah said to the people of Israel at that time:
In the face of the country's crisis
Facing the pain of captivity
Facing an unknown future;

At the time, the Israelites felt:
The god seemed silent,
Strength seems exhausted, hope seems to have vanished.
Just then,
God declared through the prophet Isaiah:
But those who wait for the Lord will regain their strength.

3. What is waiting for the Lord?
● Waiting is not: doing nothing
● Waiting is not: passive waiting
● Waiting is not: leaving it to fate

The wait in the Bible is:
1). Trust in God = Look to God
2). Obedience to God = Believing in God's timing
Waiting is a gesture of confidence.
When people cannot rely on themselves, they still believe that God is in control.

4. Must regain strength
The original text is as follows:
◎ Exchange power,
◎ Update Strength,
◎ The meaning of restoring strength.

Meaning that:
Human strength is limited, but divine power is infinite.
When people are willing to wait for God, He adds His strength to their weaknesses.
As Paul said:
My grace is sufficient for you,
Because my strength is manifested in human weakness.

Two, the second promise: the peace bestowed by God.
The true meaning of peace, many people believe:
◎ Peace is when there are no problems;
◎ Peace is the absence of disease;
◎ Peace is the absence of difficulties;
◎ Peace is when everything goes smoothly.
Actually, the peace mentioned in the Bible is not just about the tranquility of the external environment.

2. Peace in the Bible
Jesus said:
I leave you with peace;
I give you my peace. What I give is unlike what the world gives.

◎ People's views on peace are:
● Good environment brings peace;
● Smooth work ensures safety;
● Good health brings peace.
But the peace given by the Lord Jesus:
Even in a bad environment, my heart remains calm.

◎ When the disciples encountered wind and waves in the Sea of Galilee,
Jesus did not
Start by stopping the storm.
Jesus was the first to be on the boat with his disciples.
This makes it clear to us:
God may not take away the storm, but God will surely accompany us through it.

3. Life is full of storms:
※. Storm of Disease
※. The Storm of Family
※ Economic Storm
※. The passing of a loved one
※. The loneliness of old age
Sometimes God does not immediately change the environment, allowing us to believe even in difficulties:
①God reigns,
②God is with us,
③God has His will.

Summary: (Psalm 29:11) This verse tells us:
Strength and peace are two sides of the same coin.
Pursuing strength in one's youth.
Pursue peace in old age.
But God said: You shall have both.
As your body gradually ages, God will first give us:
1)Strength to face
2)Peaceful acceptance
Then lead us through.

Thank goodness, strength doesn't prove that I am strong.
Instead:
God made me strong, God made me not afraid.

祢是我的主;
真正的福氣,不是王位;
真正的保障,不是財富;
When I woke up this morning, Jesus said to me:
My good is not apart from You,
= My value lies in God
= My peace is with God
= My hope is in God
= My life is built on God.
This is also David's lifelong answer: Lord, You are my greatest blessing.
The meaning is that:
When a person truly comes to know God, they will discover the most important things in life,
All come from God and are established within Him.
One, my good is not apart from You,
This phrase comes from my heart, you have said to the Lord:
You are my king,
You are my Lord;
My good is not outside of You.
The author is David.
At that time, David was not always living in prosperity.
1. The background of this biblical verse, as David once experienced:
1). Chased by Saul
2). Facing a political crisis
3). Experiencing the ups and downs of life
4). Encountering many uncertainties
But in such an environment, in such a situation, David discovered one thing:
True fortune is not the throne;
True assurance is not wealth;
True satisfaction lies not in the environment.
Rather, it is God Himself.
So David said: My good is not apart from you.
2. My benefit does not lie outside of You, as explained by this phrase:
Benefits go beyond money.
①Benefits also include:
Peace = Joy
Direction = Hope
Life value = Eternal life
②David meant to say:
The truly precious things in my life come from God.
◎ Not saying:
Apart from God, nothing else matters.
◎ Instead, say:
All genuine benefits ultimately originate from God.
3. The true meaning of this sentence
People often assume:
1). Having money gives you a sense of security:
2). Where there is status, there is value:
3). Achievement brings satisfaction.
But you won't realize until the latter half of your life that some things will leave.
Health will change.
The work will be over.
The position will pass the baton.
People age → but God never changes.
Two, (Psalm 16:2) You are my Lord; my good is not apart from You.
I have walked the pastoral path with Pastor Hui Ling for over three decades,
From pastoral care = to pastoral care
Good News Center = At the Founding Hall,
By tomorrow, May 31st, I will be retiring.
Looking back, I gradually understood the meaning of David's words.
1. Originally, the greatest blessing in life,
It's not about how much I have, but about God always being with me.
Therefore, my benefit is not outside of You.
Actually, it's saying:
My value is not built on the position of preaching.
In the past, everyone called me Pastor and I was a preacher.
One day after retirement → the position will pass the baton → the job will end.
But as a child of God, I will never retire.
My value,
It's not because I'm standing on the podium, but because I belong to God.
2. My peace is not built on the environment.
Life has its high mountains,
Conversely, there will be lows.
There is joy in building the church, as well as pressure from ministry.
There was applause → there were also misunderstandings.
There is abundance → there is also scarcity.
But along the way, what kept me safe,
It's not the smoothness of the environment, but rather that God is always with me.
Because God has not left, I am not afraid.
Three, the retirement gratitude service on May 31st is an important milestone.
1. Reviewing over three decades of pastoral journey:
• 1990 Year Pasture
• East Mountain Service
• To serve 椬 Wu
• Return to Dongshan
• Gospel Center
• church construction ministry
Along the way,
The greatest grace is not how much work is done.
Instead, God has always been with us.
So before retirement, this phrase seemed to say:
It's not because of how much I've done that I have value; it's because God has always been with me.
Retirement is not about losing one's identity, but about reaffirming it:
My benefits,
Not outside the missionary position.
My value,
Not outside of work achievements.
Because my life belongs to God,
My benefits
My Value
My good is not outside of You.
2. After June 1st, life enters a new phase.
Past question: What can I do for the church?
The future might be more about: what does God want to leave through me?
Paul in 2 Timothy:
Pass the stick to Timothy.
Retirement is not a period.
Retirement is a comma → Retirement is not an end → it is another beginning.
3. Plans for the future on July 5th:
The Dongshan Church and Pastor Zhang Sicong are advancing the ministry related to the spiritual center.
Its core values may include:
Let the church be a quiet place to draw near to God.
Modern people are very busy = their hearts are chaotic.
A place is needed:
Prayer = Quietness
Spiritual cultivation = renewed strength
Summary: My good is not apart from You.
For David: This is a declaration of faith.
For Dongshan Church: it is the foundation upon which the church exists.
For me before retirement:
It is gratitude.
For me after retirement: it's about re-verifying my identity.
For me after June 1st:
It is a new calling.
For any future ministry:
It reminds us that the greatest blessing of the church is not what people leave behind.
2. Instead, God continued to work here at Dongshan Church.
Because the true benefit = is not outside the position,
Because the true benefit = is not beyond achievement,
Because the true benefit = is not beyond the number of people,
Because the true benefit = is within God Himself.
This is also David's lifelong answer: Lord, You are my greatest blessing
