Taking 10 minutes to complete the following checks before a typhoon arrives can significantly reduce disaster risks.⏱ Minutes 1–2: Window and Door Safety
□ Close and lock all windows and doors securely.
□ Check that window frames are sturdy and not loose.
□ Draw curtains or blinds to prevent glass shards from flying.
□ Taping an "X" on glass is unnecessary; anti-shatter safety film works better.
⏱ Minutes 3–4: Balconies, Roofs, and Yards
□ Bring inside all items prone to blowing away, such as flowerpots, drying racks, trash cans, and mops.
□ Secure all items around outdoor air conditioner units.
□ Clear leaves and debris from drainage holes and gutters to prevent flooding.
□ Check awnings, signboards, and corrugated iron sheets for any looseness.
⏱ Minutes 5–6: Indoor Preparation
□ Fully charge your phones and power banks.
□ Place flashlights in easily accessible locations.
□ Prepare spare batteries.
□ Make ice cubes or freeze bottled water in advance to extend cooling time during power outages.
Minutes 7–8: Emergency Supplies Prepare supplies to last for at least 3 days:
□ Drinking water (approx. 2–3 liters per person per day).
□ Ready-to-eat foods, dry rations, and canned goods.
□ Regular or essential medications.
□ Masks, rubbing alcohol, and toilet paper.
□ Raincoats and rain boots.
□ Cash (electronic payments may be unavailable during power outages).

Minute 9: Important Documents
□ ID cards, health insurance cards, and passports.
□ Bankbooks and insurance documents.
□ Place important documents into waterproof bags.
□ Back up essential
data to the cloud or a USB flash drive.

Minute 10: Safety Confirmation
□ Move cars away from low-lying areas, large trees, and large signboards.
□ Avoid non-essential outdoor travel.
□ Stay updated on typhoon information and alerts issued by the government.
Plan evacuation routes in advance if living in mountainous or flood-prone areas.
🏠 If Living on High Floors (10th Floor and Above)
□ Bring all balcony items completely indoors.
□ Do not crack windows open to "vent the wind"; this causes indoor-outdoor pressure changes and increases the risk of glass damage.
□ Keep away from floor-to-ceiling glass doors and windows, especially during strong gusts.
🏘 If Living on the Ground Floor or in Flood-Prone Areas
□ Position sandbags or water barriers in place.
□ Elevate electrical appliances, power outlets, and important items.目

Final Reminder
During a typhoon, staying indoors is the safest choice unless there is an urgent emergency. Even if the wind and rain temporarily weaken, it could simply be the passing of the typhoon eye. Strong winds and heavy torrential rain can quickly return. Please remain on high alert until the weather authorities lift the typhoon warning.

Liaobu Village Chief, Huang Huang-cheng, wishes everyone safe passage through the typhoon.
