Torchlight on Taiwan Follow the Johnston as the minister along side local churches and believers through sports and recreation outreach.

The Johnstons have listened to God's call to go to Taiwan to work in sports ministry. Through One Challenge International, we will be serving in Taiwan. This is your opportunity to follow along in our journey and to join us in prayer. We will sharing updates and pictures of life and ministry in Taiwan. It is our hope that you will learn about Taiwan and sports ministry and become a greater part of

Elaina, Erik, and I spent two weeks in Taiwan ministering at an English sports camp for one week, and Kid's Games at two local churches who serve in aboriginal tribes.

I have been asked to organize another camp for next summer with the hopes that we can expand it to include more youth, perhaps as many as 200.

I have been having difficulty with uploading photos from the trip, but I am working on it and will post as soon as I resolve the problem.

Elaina, Erik, and I, travel to Pingtung, in the south this morning, to prepare for ministry with local churches.

Please keep Elaina in your prayers. She injured her knee playing flag football last week. We praise God that it is only a strain on her cruciate ligament. She has begun walking on it again, but we will be in the mountains and the camp will be active. Pray the Lord protects her knee.

Sorry it has taken so long to give any updates, but we were without internet access for the entire time at the camp.
It was a good week for our first attempt at camp with this organization and this campus. Although it was hot and humid, the students really enjoyed the sports activities and free time.
English classes were a bit of a struggle since we were unable to know in advance the various levels of each student, but the message was still clear with each lesson since we were sure to translate as we went.
At the end of camp, I asked what they would keep and what they would change at the camp and a majority of my students said they would leave it the way it was.
We had great conversations during team time and I know that God is at work in their hearts to be a Game Changer in their lives.

Please pray for continued follow-up by the pastors who brought them.

One pastor said on the second day he had never seen so many denominations and tribes come together and get along so well. He was moved by the fact that barriers were removed and we could all be together as the ONE body of Christ.

The organization was encouraged and wants to make this an annual event.

Please pray as we consider what adjustments need to be made and how we can make this even more effective next year

We have arrived safely in Taichung, Taiwan. Tomorrow we will drive to Kaohsiung to make final preparations for camp.

We almost got our trip started. Delayed flight will cause us to miss our flight to Taiwan. The airline will put us up overnight in San Francisco and we will catch a later flight to Taiwan. Will till arrive on Saturday,but it will be in the evening instead of morning.

In the meantime, Erik and Elaina catch up on Netflix.
