本寺座落馬公市中華路段，雖處鬧區，不沾塵囂。
為開山恩師上修下通和尚尼所建，緣由恩師既出家為尼，諸兄弟憂其浪泊在外，乃於民國五十二年集資建寺於斯，成為本縣首座以正信出家僧眾住持之三寶道場，歷史悠久，莊嚴肅穆；曦日落霞，輝映禪意；暮鼓晨鐘，洗滌心靈；佛音梵唱；教化眾生，於澎湖地區，佛法之散播，人心之淨化，居功厥偉。
