本院，名為【高雄縣私立基督教山地育幼院】。一般外界簡稱〝六龜孤兒院〞或稱〝山地育幼院〞。

創辦人楊 煦、林鳳英牧師夫婦蒙上帝啟示，及受傳統先聖先賢悲天憫人之心性所影響，於傳道之餘，親身實踐耶穌基督博愛之精神，於民國41年起開始身體力行，於家中收容一名原住民啞女孤兒。

至民國五十三年春，毅然覓地蓋草棚定居現址，當時已有原住民孤兒24名。

The Christian Mountain Children′s Home was registered at 1970. Hsu Yang adopted the first deaf orphan Ruth Lin in 1952.They continued by helping to raise other poor kids especially for the Taiwan aborigines. In the early of 1960’s, the first shelter (hut) was erected, and 24 kids were move from the downtown chapel brought to the new settlement Da-Ku-Lin, the place where it’s located presently.
