日據時期，風光明媚，綠草如茵的嘉南平原，孕育出民風純樸的「樸仔腳」。後因感於這地名俗氣，於大正九年重新命名為「朴子」，即現今嘉義縣朴子市。在這塊樸實的淨土上，顯化出一段令人津津樂道的不朽傳奇 -- 「榕樹讓路蓋仙廟」；「仙廟」-- 乃鼎鼎大名之嘉義朴子呂仙祖樸靈宮廟。
