May the Grace and peace of God the father and son Jesus our Lord be with you all this morning.
How are the blessed and beloved saints of the one and true Most High God doing on this blessed day?
Today I would like you to move your Bibles to the book of 1 Thessalonians chapter 1. The chapter has 10 verses, of which we are going to take a look at this morning.
Remember 'The Word' of God must be applicable and appropriate at all times to the times. So at the beginning we see that the Apostle Paul gives a combined greeting unto the church family at Thessalonica extending Grace and peace from God and our Lord Jesus. Then alerting them right away that they are always remembered in prayer and they give God thanks for them coming together as a church through Jesus Christ in verse 2.
They Thanksgiving was constant, as Paul put it "without ceasing" citing three familiar attributes, they are 'faith, love and hope' in that order in verse 3.
Now Paul aligns faith with work, he calls it "your work of faith". Now we got to wake up to what we are really reading and may God begin to bring Understanding and clarity to us in Jesus name. "Your work of faith" yes we say we have faith. Sounds familiar doesn't it? (see James ch2 from vs 14). But are you working the measure of faith you have?. This is not about aligning faith and works, this is about working the faith that you have.
Have you been working your faith?
It means that we can call ourselves Christians and possess a measure of faith and still not use it. The truth is that so many of us can fall into this state and category.
You know today I was going to go through the entire of this chapter with you all but instead I will call this 'Part 1'.
I need you to look at your faith today, is it a dormant attribute in your christian life?
Do I really understand what faith means, or what it is?
Jesus admonished his disciples after he rebuked the devil out of a man in the book of Matthew ch 17:18. Which was immediately after questioned by his disciples as to why they couldn't. He told them that it was "Because of your unbelief". The truth is they didn't even believe in the power they had themselves, so they couldn't 'work their faith'.
You see at the same time in verse 20 he had to tell them that you had even the smallest measure of faith and were able to work it properly, the you could say "unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."
Faith worked properly can remove and shift any circumstance, giant or mountain in your life. It can remove impossibilities, what you never thought could be moved. Work your faith, even the smallest measure that you have, if worked properly there will be no limit to what you can do in Jesus Almighty name.
Look at Hebrews 11 everytime I read it revs me up, when I see the victories that come by faith, they were listed so that they can inspire us, mentioning Noah, Abraham, Sara, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, Gideon, Barak, Sampson and others. I pray that it inspires you too as it does for me.
Hebrews 11 from verse 33 states, "Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of aliens." And so much more.
PLease read it through and see what happens when you 'work faith'.
God I do pray this day that you enable us a renewed measure of faith, to stand against so many things that may seem impossible, give us the ability to conquer, and remove every negative effect in our lives, sickness or be removed, threat of disease be removed, negative emotions be removed, stress, anxiety and worry be removed, unforgiveness be removed, anger be removed, walls and barriers be removed right now in Jesus Almighty name, be removed. Strengthen our faith today as we conquer and subdue the works of the ungodly kingdom and every attack it attempts, by faith today we protect our children, our homes, our travels our provision. Through faith we claim victory with our finances. In the Almighty name of Jesus Christ.
Amen.
1 Corinthians 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these three is love. (The same combination in 1 Thessalonians 1:3)
See you tomorrow for Pt. 2 and may God bless you richly in Jesus name.
In God's Grace.
