SERMON TITLE: “THE HEART DOESN’T CHECK BANK ACCOUNTS”
There’s a quiet lie walking through our generation dressed in a brand name jeans real timberlamds and 14k gold chain.

It boast outloud,

“If you have enough, you are enough.”

But the heart… the real heart… doesn’t check bank accounts.

the genuine affection doesn't have minimum net worth.

you handicapp or your vulnaribility.or your short commings,or your, blind side, doesn't matter

anticipation not realization

You can pull up in the latest detailed pimped out ride ride,

step out shining blinging like a chandelier,

brand mame sneakers and goochies

yet still go home to a silence loneliness so loud it rattles your bones.

you can be married for a decade and have no one to understand what you say.
you can have a friend for years and still have no one to whom you can unmasked

Because the heart is not impressed by digits—it’s moved by devotion.

Let me take you into the Word.
When God sent the prophet Samuel to anoint a king, he walked into the house of Jesse. Now Jesse lined up his sons like a showroom of human excellence—tall, strong, polished. The kind of men you’d put on a campaign poster.
And Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely this is the one.”
God said, “No.”
Another son—“No.”
Another—“No.”
God rejected seven impressive résumés in a row. Why? Because heaven does not hire based on outward appearance.
Then comes the divine interruption:
“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7
Translation: Your profile might be perfect, but your pulse is off.
They had to go fetch a shepherd boy—David—smelling like sheep, with dirt under his nails and no portfolio to present. But when God looked at David, He saw something the others didn’t have: a heart tuned to Him.
And God said, “That’s my king.”
Now let me bring it home with a little humor—because some of us need to laugh before we repent.
Some people check your bank account before they check your character.
They don’t ask, “Do you pray?”
They ask, “Do you pay?”
You ever meet someone who falls in love with your potential income?
They don’t love you—they love your Wi-Fi password and your fridge.
If you lose your job, suddenly their “spirit” tells them to “move on.”
That’s not love. That’s a subscription service.
But hear me—don’t laugh too hard, because we do the same thing with God.
We approach God like He’s a divine ATM.
“Lord, bless me.”
“Lord, increase me.”
“Lord, open doors.”
But when was the last time we said, “Lord, examine me?”
We want His hand… but not His heart.
We want His provision… but not His presence.
Let me take you to another scene.
In Luke chapter 18, Jesus tells of two men who went to pray. One was a religious professional—the kind who could quote scripture faster than you can find it. The other was a tax collector—considered corrupt, dirty, unworthy.
The religious man stood tall and prayed,
“God, I thank You that I’m not like other people…”
Meanwhile, the tax collector couldn’t even lift his head. He beat his chest and said,
“God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”
And Jesus said something that should shake every polished churchgoer:
The broken man went home justified—not the impressive one.
Why? Because the heart doesn’t check credentials.
God is not impressed by your performance—He’s searching your posture.
Let me give you an illustration.
A man buys the most expensive Bible money can afford. Leather-bound, gold-edged pages, looks like it belongs in a museum. He places it on his coffee table so every visitor can see how “spiritual” he is.
But the pages are clean. Too clean. Not a highlight, not a tear stain, not a fingerprint.
Then there’s another man—his Bible is falling apart. Pages bent, notes scribbled, verses underlined, corners worn from being turned in desperation.
Guess which one is being used… and which one is just being displayed?
Some of us have a display relationship with God.
We look saved… we sound saved… but we’re not surrendered.
Let me get sharper now.
You can:
Sing in the choir and still be out of tune with God
Preach sermons and still not hear His voice
Dress holy and still live empty
Because the heart doesn’t check appearances.

thats the thing we live in a context where appearences is enough for most folks in tobago they checking your ride, your image, your swag, your nails, your price tags, your name brands.

Jesus confronted this in Matthew 23. He said, “You clean the outside of the cup, but inside you are full of greed and self-indulgence.”
That’s like washing your car every day but never changing the engine oil.
It looks good… until it breaks down in the middle of the road.
And some lives are breaking down—not because God failed—but because the inside was neglected.
Now hear this—this is where it turns.
God is not looking for perfection.
He’s looking for permission.
Permission to enter your mess.
Permission to confront your pride.
Permission to reorder your desires.
David—the same shepherd boy—became king, yes. But he also fell. Hard. Sin, failure, scandal.
But what made David different was not that he never sinned—
it was that when he sinned, he returned.
In Psalm 51, he cries,
“Create in me a clean heart, O God…”
Not “fix my reputation.”
Not “restore my image.”
But “renew my heart.”
many of our great preachers
running mega ministries
sitting in offices of political influence managing finicial portfolios that can afford to buy a small country.

sit in their life mountains yet hollow on the inside.

Because David understood: if the heart is right, everything else can be rebuilt.

Let me close with something that might sting a little.
If God were to audit your life—not your money, not your possessions—but your heart, what would He find?
A heart crowded with distractions?
A heart hardened by hurt?
A heart divided between Him and everything else?
Or would He find a heart that says,
“God, I may not have much—but what I have is Yours.”
Because at the end of the day…
The heart doesn’t check bank accounts.
God is not asking, “How much did you make?”
He’s asking, “How much did you surrender?”
Gid is not thrilled by your success he is responsive to your submission.
looking good is fine being good is better
having is fine shating what you have is better
knowing is good
teaching what you know is better.
ALTAR CALL (lean in, slow, weighty):
If you’ve been investing more in your image than your intimacy with God…
if you been spending more time in the mirror than at the alter.

If you’ve been chasing blessing but avoiding transformation…
If your life looks full but your heart feels empty…
Then today is your day.
Not to impress God—
but to return to Him.
Because the God who rejected outward appearance
is the same God who welcomes a broken heart.
And if you give Him your heart—
He’ll give you something no money can buy:
Peace that holds.
Joy that lasts.
And a relationship that carries you beyond this life.
