25/11/2025

Who is 'The woman' in Genesis 3:15?

After Adam and Eve have eaten the forbidden fruit, God says this to the devil.

"I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your seed and her seed;
he will crush your head,
and you will strike his heel.” (Gen 3:15)

The question we must answer is.......Who is 'the woman'?

Well let's see what this verse says.

1. That the 'seed/offspring' of the woman will defeat the devil.
I think all denominations can agree that this 'seed/offspring' is Jesus.

Therefore a safe conclusion is that the 'woman' here in Gen 3:15 is referring to Mary. (Because Jesus is the offspring of Mary who defeats the devil)

2. Though almost all translation today have "HE will crush your head"...an equally accurate (or better) translation actually is "SHE will crush your head". The Hebrew word used there for 'seed/offspring' is neuter. You can't tell based off of the word used if the writer is speaking about a Male of Female.

3. Mary is the only female EVER to have a "SEED".
When all men are born, for their conception to take place a female gamete (egg) and a male gamete (s***m) come together. Butttt the s***m always comes from the Father.

Exceppptttt...Jesus doesnt have an earthly father to contribute a seed. Yettttt...Jesus is FULLY man, CONCEIVED by the virgin Mary (the virgin will conceive and bear a son).
So for this to happen Mary must in some way possess a 'seed' that belongs to no other human on earth. The seed is hers.

So in conclusion we can say.

1. The 'woman' who will have enmity with the devil later on in history is MARY.

2. A good translation can show us that Mary (the woman) crushes the head of the devil.

3. Mary is a 'New Eve'. (The use of 'woman' is clearly a play on the name used for Eve prior to The Fall)

24/11/2025

One question at the heart of the discussion is:

When did the Catholic Church begin?

For the Catholics, the answer is clear:
"Christ founded a Church with a hierarchical structure. Peter was the head of this Church. We see this in Matthew 16"

Most Non-Catholics will disagree saying that Christ never made Peter the head of the Church. And/Or the church never had any literal hierarchy structure.

Soooo...if it was not Christ who found the Catholic (universal) church...the question we must answer is...who (or even when) was the Catholic Church founded?

The usual response by Non-Catholics as to when the Catholic church was founded ... are:

1. The Catholic church started around the time that groups started saying there was a Pope.

2. Catholic church started around the time of Constantine.

3. Catholic church started when people started doing ***insert Catholic practice here***

Let's take a very brief look at these

1. Response to No. 1

There always was a leader of the Christian church as history shows. Not only is this seen in the Bible...but throughout history.
History also shows that the church was also called the Catholic Church.

So what does history (outside of the Bible) show as to when Christians 'began' believing that Christianity was called the Catholic church?

The Apostle John had a disciple name Ignatius.
This is what Ignatius wrote:
"See that you all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as you would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is administered either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude of the people also be; even as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church". —Letter to the Smyrnaeans, Ch 8

Notice ignatius says that Christians should obey their bishop and that the church is Catholic (universal)

Soooo...i ask all those reading this...Does your church have a bishop? Is your church Catholic?

Ignatius also says that the head of the Church is in Rome.
Ignatius writes to the church in Rome:
"Ignatius, also called Theophorus, to the Church that has found mercy in the greatness of the Most High Father and in Jesus Christ, his only son; to the Church beloved and enlightened after the love of Jesus Christ, our God, by the will of him that has willed everything which is; to the Church wich also holds the presidency in the place of the country of the Romans, worthy of God, worthy of honor, worthy of blessing, worthy of praise, worthy of success, worthy of sanctification, and because you hold the presidency of love, named after Christ and named after the Father; here therefore do I salute in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father." —Letter to the Romans, Intro

Here Ignatius tells the people of Rome that their church poses the Presidency of the Catholic Church

2. Constantine founded the Catholic Church

We could get into this more...but from above we could see that the Catholic church existed before Constantine was even a thought in his Mother's womb. Constantine became influential from around 306 AD

3.Catholic church started when people started doing ***insert Catholic practice here***

All core Catholic Church practices and customs are traced back to 1st, 2nd and 3rd century.
...
Therefore what can we conclude?

Even if someone says that the beliefs of the Catholic Church are unbiblical. And that the Catholic church was only founded centuries after. Christianity........the evidence is clear

a. There was a church called rhe Catholic Church who's leader was based in Rome.

b. You could see where the church was because there would be a bishop present.

c. The practices of today's Catholic Church started extremely early (example, infant baptism possibly predates some of the new testament writings according to the Didache)

d. Constantine didnt create or establish Catholicism (or even Christiaity). Catholicism exists closer to the time of the Apostles than it did to the time of Constantine.

More on this another time.

THIS IS MY BODY - Part II

With this being the month of June, and the month of the Sacred Heart, it's a good time to focus of the human body.

This month I'll focus on the issues maybe not often spoken of in Catholic Circles....issues that affect the body.

So this month let's talk about what we should and shouldn't do with our bodies. We'll cover topics such as abortion, contraception, capital punishment, addiction, su***de, murder, "pulling the plug", euthanasia, homosexuality, Transgenderism and the LGBTQ+ movement, the Body in Research, burial/cremation..plus more.

"No one should be able to tell me what to do with MY BODY...that's insane!"...at least that's the growing thought in today's world.

However... as people of Christ I pray we start by recognizing that our bodies FIRST belong to God. It is 'MY BODY', yes, but it's my body to do as God wants me to do with it, not what I want to with it. Our bodies FIRST belong to God, then us.

The reality is, the ONLY THINGS I should want to do with my body is what God wants me to with my body.

So my hope this month is to
1. Explain the Catholic position
2. Explain why the Church has given these rules/demands/requests
3. Discuss how to circumnavigate these difficult topics, especially when we don't agree.

I look forward to this journey with you

As the Church throughout the world celebrates the Ascension of Jesus Christ, let's take a look at 'The Body'

Christ clings to his body through his passion death and resurrection. By doing this Christ shows what to expect if our own Body's
When Christ ascends the reality is that there is now a HUMAN BODY sharing in the life of the Trinity. A HUMAN BODY is now part of the God-head experiencing divinization.

As such....given that what Christ does with his body, and what happens to His body is what we will be able to with our body through the resurrection, let's briefly look at what some of these things/abilities are.

1. REUNION WITH OUR BODY

Our body is the reason we got to heaven in the first place. Think of anyone who had died and is now in heaven. EVERYTHING they did to get to heaven they did it through their bodies. Whether they prayed, did good deeds, listened to God, loved their neighbors....a person cannot do those things without their body.

As such...though a person's soul may be experiencing heaven now, a person's experience of heaven is complete when they get back their body at the end of time.

2. AGILITY

We will be able to move from one location to another without walking. Example, if you are in San Fernando and want to get to Port-of-Spain, you just need to do it in your mind and...you're there. No need to walk or travel there.

Bibles shows us this when Jesus disappears in front of people's eyes (think of the road to Emmaus in Luke)

3. IMPASSIBILITY

This is our bodies' ability to never experience sickness or pain. Jesus' body conquers death. As such through the resurrection, the body doesn't experience anything that can cause death.

4. CLARITY

This is the ability to show only the parts of our body that we desire. If you want other persons to only see your face, you can display yourself in that way. Want people to not be able to recognize your face, you can do that to.
Our body will with this extreme brightness.

Think of Jesus on the road to Emmaus and the men were unable to recognise him.

5. SUBTLETY

Our bodies ability to move through physical objects like walls.

Think of Jesus appearing to the disciples behind closed doors

These are just SOME of the things we will be able to do with our bodies at the Resurrection.
So as Christ ascends today, we hope one day to share in his glorification
...Our Bodies Matter.

22/04/2025

Though I think it's rather easy to portray the fact both Biblically and Historically that Peter was the first leader of the Christian Church (a.k.a. 'Pope')......the question remains, did the the Christians in the years after Peter think that Peter's successors were in-turn leaders of the Christian Church? And did these early Christians think 'Rome' was where Christian authority headquarters was located?

1. Clement who was the Bishop in Rome and a successor of Peter writes in the year 80 AD:
"If anyone disobey the things which have been said by him [God] through us let them know that they will involve themselves in transgression..." (Letter to the Corinthians 1, 58–59, 63 [A.D. 80]).

2. Ignatius of Antioch was a Disciple of JOHN THE APOSTLE and he writes to the Roman church around 110AD saying:
"to the church also which holds the presidency, in the location of the country of the Romans, worthy of God, worthy of honor, worthy of blessing, worthy of praise, worthy of success, worthy of sanctification, and, because you hold the presidency in love, named after Christ and named after the Father” (Letter to the Romans 1:1 [A.D. 110]).

In another place in that same letter, Ignatius says:

“You [the church at Rome] have envied no one, but others you have taught. I desire only that what you have enjoined in your instructions may remain in force” (ibid., 3:1).

3. The Apostle John (writer of the Gospel of John), had a disciple called Polycarp.
Polycarp in-turn, taught a guy name Irenaeus.
Irenaeus was the Bishop of Lyon in France and writes the following around the year 189 AD:
"But since it would be too long to enumerate in such a volume as this the succession of all the churches, we shall confound all those who, in whatever manner, whether through self-satisfaction or vainglory, or through blindness and wicked opinion, assemble other than where it is proper, by pointing out here the successions of the bishops of the greatest and most ancient church known to all, founded and organized at Rome by the two most glorious apostles, Peter and Paul, that church which has the tradition and the faith which comes down to us after having been announced to men by the apostles. With that church, because of its superior origin, all the churches must agree, that is, all the faithful in the whole world, and it is in her that the faithful everywhere have maintained the apostolic tradition” (Against Heresies 3:3:2 [A.D. 189]).

So what trend do we see....
1. The early bishops ALTHOUGH FROM DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE WORLD...agree that Rome is the Headquarters of the Christian Church

2. The early bishops ALTHOUGH FROM DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE WORLD...agree that the Bishop in Rome is the head of the Christian faith.

3. The Catholic church didn't INVENT a position called the Pope. The Christian faith ALWAYS had a leader on earth after Christ ascended.

Ps. I've given three examples, but Google could easily show you "what the early church believed about the Papacy?"
