🛑 HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE‼
Greetings heirs!
The write-up you're about to read consists of:
-What the bible means,
-The background mindset to have when studying and ...
-Generally how to study.
........................................................................
-What Is The Bible?
The bible is a reliable collection of historical documents written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses; they reported supernatural events that took place in fulfilment of specific prophecies and their writings are divine rather than human in origin.
-The Background Mindset To Have;
JESUS CHRIST is the accurate visible image of the invisible GOD.
JESUS came to earth to physically reveal to us who GOD is.
So, to be able to interpret the bible and arrive at the right understanding of GOD, you must read/study with JESUS in your mind. This is the reason JESUS said in.......................John 5:39(NKJV); ...........................
"You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me."
-How To Study The Bible:
1) You have to study the complete bible (Genesis - Revelation)
See the bible as a letter sent to you. You can't fully understand a letter sent to you if you read; only the intro or only the body or only the conclusion. You will have to read everything to have a full understanding.
2) The bible is a book full of metaphors. So when reading, don't take all of the words literal especially: the stories, prophecies, words of JESUS and the book of Revelation.
3) Read the Bible contextually.
That is, follow the context of every discussion.
Always consider: who is talking, who is he talking to and what/who is he talking about.
4) Allow the bible to speak to you.
As you read, don't assume what you think it is saying, let the bible tell you what is saying.
Even if you come across a verse of scripture, don't just read it alone, check the previous verses or even the previous chapters and check the following verses or chapters as well so, you'll fully understand what that particular portion is talking about.
Finally, to grow in understanding of the scriptures, you will need to be guided just like the Ethiopian Eu**ch in (Acts 8:31) who answered Philip and said, ...
"How can I understand except someone should guide me".
You must understand that the bible was written many decades ago and they that wrote it had a different style of writing, a different style of communication, a different culture from ours of today and above all, the bible was not written in our modern languages of today. So when interpreting, we must make sure, we do not deviate from the original writers' intent and for you to achieve that, you must be guided indeed.
It is at this point, I must advise you to belong to a local church where the bible is taught extensively if you are not in one already.
In a Christ-centered church, you will meet trained teachers of the scriptures who will help you interpret and bring the scriptures to life in your understanding.
Thanks for reading and God bless
