This morning, somewhere before the sun rose, a mother woke up quietly.
Not because she was rested…
Not because life was easy…
But because mothers do not stop.
She stood before her little altar, folded her hands, and prayed silently:
“Dear God… protect my children. Even if I have to suffer, let them be okay.”
No one heard that prayer.
No one saw the tears she wiped away before anyone else woke up.
And that is the story of so many mothers in our temple family.
The world sees mothers on the good days — smiling, serving, cooking, laughing during puja and gatherings…
But God sees the nights they cried alone.
The burdens they carried in silence.
The heartbreak they hid behind strength.
A mother will go hungry and say she already ate.
A mother will stay awake all night beside a sick child and still wake up early to serve everyone else.
A mother will break into a thousand pieces inside… and still stand before her family pretending to be strong.
Some mothers here have buried their pain so deeply that even their own children never knew how much they sacrificed.
Some prayed for years just to keep their families together.
Some carried grief in silence after losing loved ones.
Some are still waiting for a child to call…
Still waiting for a hug…
Still waiting for peace.
And yet… every week, they come to temple.
They light their deyas.
They bow before God.
They pray for everyone else before they pray for themselves.
That is a mother.
Not just a woman who gives birth…
But a soul chosen by God to carry love, sacrifice, pain, and faith all at once.
To every mother, grandmother, and mother figure in our temple family:
Thank you for every silent sacrifice.
Thank you for every tear you hid.
Thank you for every prayer that protected your family when they didn’t even realize they were being protected.
Many of us are standing today only because a mother prayed for us when we were too lost to pray for ourselves.
One day, when her chair is empty…
When her voice becomes a memory…
When all that remains are her prayers echoing in our hearts…
We will finally understand how deeply she loved us.
So today, hold your mother close if you still can.
And if your mother is no longer here, close your eyes and thank her spirit for never leaving your side.
May God bless every mother in our temple community.
May He heal the tired hearts, comfort the grieving souls, and reward every sacrifice made out of love.
Happy Mother’s Day. 🌺❤️
A mother’s love is the closest thing to God’s love we will ever feel on this earth.
