While Jesus was on earth his example and ministry culminated in his death on the cross. He purposefully submitted to the will of the Father; took upon himself the sins of mankind to save us; did not retaliate to the atrocities committed against him and later died on the cross.
In my opinion this period was extremely difficult. ๐ฐ๐ฉ๐
I don't think that I could have managed any portion of his suffering successfully. In fact, I believe that when the disciples ran away from Jesus or the illegal late night trials or all the lies has the ability to break me!
However, Jesus took the time to care for someone while he hung on the cross. According to the gospel of John 19:26-27 NLT, "When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, โDear woman, here is your son.โ And he said to this disciple, โHere is your mother.โ And from then on this disciple took her into his home."
We may be wondering, what does this even mean? ๐ฎ๐ฑ
Here, we see the Son of God putting aside his agony to ensure that this "woman" (a title of dignity in this context) should be taken care of by someone whom Jesus loved and trusted. Jesus 'forgot about himself' in this moment, was 'selfless' and demonstrated 'filial love' (Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible)!
He cared for someone else in a difficult time!๐ฅฐ๐ค๐คฏ
Are we like Jesus?
Do we ensure that others are cared for?
Do we talk to our neighbours?
Do we demonstrate love to everyone?
Do we find innovative ways to provide assistance to those in need?
Do we lend a hand in these difficult times?
Tell us in the comments how you strive daily to be like Jesus!
