God has called all followers of Christ to be a part of His divine team. In Matt 28: 19-20 we see God’s mandate to go into the earth and reach the lost at all cost. Our role is not limited to church ministry but representation in other spheres such as education, government, family & health, commerce & economics, entertainment & media and sports. We must fall into one of these spheres. So, there is no excuse for us not to operate in the position He has for us in advancing His kingdom.

We know that we serve a God who cares about our needs, but we also serve a God who we acknowledge as Lord of our lives, so we must be very concern about the things that he wants us to do with our lives for his purpose. Paul, in the book of Colossians, demonstrated in his prayers that the things of God were his priority. In Col 4:3-4 his prayer was that God would provide opportunity for him to speak about Christ. Our prayers, like Paul’s, should reflect the priorities of God.

As followers of Christ, we must ensure that we fill our heart and mind with the Word of God. It should reside in a fixed and permanent place within us serving as a guide for our lives and our interaction with others. We are encouraged to teach and admonish each other with God’s word.

In 2 Tim 2:15 everyone, including students, is commanded to “study to show yourself approved unto God…rightfully dividing the word of truth.” Our search for wisdom must be deliberate and given deep thought. Tremendous effort and diligence are required, not just lip service. God likens finding wisdom to a search for hidden treasure (Prov 2:4). This means we must be constantly removing those things that hinder us for attaining the treasure of God’s word and coming to a deeper understanding in Christ.

Sin results in devastation of our minds, families, communities and society. Paul speaks to this in Rom 7:24 when he describes himself as "wretched man" in need of rescue. Jesus remains the way, the truth and the life. There is are many like Paul and like us who are in need of rescue.

Nothing in this worldly system is happening by chance. It is all organized and orchestrated towards a diabolic end. 1 John 5:19 alerts us that the world is under the control of evil. The daily christian walk involves a consciousness that we are battling against forces of the devil. We must be aware of the role of entertainment and social media in advancing the devil's agenda.

Community is essential in the Kingdom of God. "A cord of three strands is not easily broken.. (Eccl 4:22)." There is strength in community. We must be open to making ourselves accountable to each other. This will allow us to maximize our potential for glorifying God on the earth whilst providing a sense of belonging.
