Sri Varagaeeswarar temple Damal , is located next to kancheepuram, on Banglore Highway, is more than 1000 years old . THis temple is also mention to Varaha skhetram as detailing are there in Varaha puranam , as adviced by Sri Mahaperiayava . kanchi Sri Mahaperiaya has stayed in this temple for a day during his padayatra on the year of 1975 - 78. During the padayatra , Sri Mahaperiyava adviced Damal Gowri patti to do this temple renovation . With Sri Mahaperiyava anugraham and the help of Kanchi madam , Damal Gowri patti has taken immence effort for doing the temple renovation and construction of seven nilai gopuram and after continious efforts for 30 years , on 2013 temple kumbabishekam was completed. This temple is also known for Raghu and kethu pariharam sthalam. A unique sanctity in this temple is ,during navarathi Vijaya dasami and masi maham day, Sun rays falls on Linga thirumeni . Also on the Linga thirumeni, Namam and Sanguchakram are incribed which will be seen on deepaaradana . Sarbeswarar is also present in this temple. many of the coloumns at the front of the Varaheeswarar temple are carved with various depictions of Bhairava, a form of shiva who is lways accompanied by his faithful dog. Elephant is present before ambal sannathi ( normally lion will be placed ) very unique feature. Ashta bairavas are available on pillars at outer praharam.
