Beholding His Glory

“And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light.”

--Matthew 17:2--

For a brief moment on a mountain, Peter, James, and John witnessed something extraordinary. The veil covering Christ's earthly glory was lifted, and they saw a glimpse of His divine majesty.

His face shone like the sun. His clothing became brilliantly white. Moses and Elijah appeared beside Him, representing the Law and the Prophets, both pointing to Jesus as the fulfillment of God's redemptive plan.

Then the Father's voice was heard once again:

“This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him!” (Matthew 17:5)

The Transfiguration reminded the disciples that Jesus was far more than a teacher or miracle worker. He was—and is—the eternal Son of God.

This glorious event also prepared them for the coming cross. Soon they would witness Christ's suffering, but they needed to remember His glory. The One who would be crucified was also the King of Glory who would rise again.

Believers today also need this reminder. It is easy to focus on earthly problems and forget the majesty of Christ. Yet when we behold His glory through Scripture, our fears grow smaller, our faith grows stronger, and our worship becomes deeper.

One day, every believer will see Jesus not by faith but face to face. The glimpse given on the mountain will become an eternal reality for all who belong to Him.

Until then, let us continue listening to His voice, following His example, and living for His glory.

Spend time today worshiping Christ for who He is, not merely for what He has done. Let your heart be filled with awe at His majesty.

Lord Jesus, You are the glorious Son of God. Help me keep my eyes fixed on You, especially during difficult seasons. May the vision of Your glory strengthen my faith until the day I see You face to face. Amen.

The Mark of True Discipleship

“I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you.”

--John 13:34--

As Jesus gathered with His disciples in the Upper Room, knowing that the cross was only hours away, He chose to speak not about worldly success or earthly power but about love.

After washing His disciples' feet—a task normally reserved for the lowest servant—He gave them a new commandment: "Love one another just as I have loved you."

The standard of Christian love is not human kindness or cultural acceptance. It is the sacrificial love of Christ Himself.

Jesus loved without prejudice. He loved those who misunderstood Him, those who doubted Him, and even those who betrayed Him. His love was patient, forgiving, humble, and self-giving.

This kind of love is impossible through human strength alone. It is produced by the Holy Spirit as believers surrender to Christ.

Jesus also declared that the world would recognize His disciples by their love for one another. While knowledge, giftedness, and ministry are valuable, love remains the clearest evidence of genuine discipleship.

The church shines brightest when believers forgive quickly, serve willingly, encourage generously, and bear one another's burdens.

Every act of Christlike love becomes a visible testimony of the Gospel.

Show intentional love today by forgiving someone, encouraging another believer, or serving without expecting recognition.

Lord Jesus, teach me to love as You have loved me. Let my words, attitudes, and actions reflect Your grace so that others may see You through my life. Amen.

Hope That Conquers Death

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”

--John 11:25–26--

Few moments in the Gospels reveal both the humanity and the deity of Jesus as beautifully as the raising of Lazarus. When Jesus arrived in Bethany, Lazarus had been dead for four days. Martha and Mary were overwhelmed with grief, believing that if Jesus had come sooner, their brother would still be alive.

From a human perspective, the situation seemed hopeless. Death had already done its work. Yet what appeared impossible to man was simply another opportunity for Christ to reveal His glory.

Before going to the tomb, Jesus declared one of the greatest "I AM" statements in Scripture: "I am the resurrection and the life." He did not merely claim to have the power to resurrect the dead—He declared that resurrection itself is found in Him. Life is not simply a gift Jesus gives; it is His very nature.

Standing before the tomb, Jesus wept. Though He knew He was about to raise Lazarus, He entered into the sorrow of those He loved. His tears remind us that God is not indifferent to our pain. He walks with us in our grief and understands every heartache we experience.

Then Jesus commanded, "Lazarus, come out!" At His word, the dead man emerged from the grave, still wrapped in burial cloths. Death itself had to obey the voice of its Creator.

This miracle points beyond Lazarus to Christ's own resurrection. A few weeks later, Jesus Himself would enter a tomb, but death could not hold Him. By His resurrection He conquered sin, Satan, and the grave forever.

Because Jesus lives, believers have an unshakable hope. Physical death is no longer the end but the doorway into eternal life with Christ. Our confidence rests not in human optimism but in the living Savior who defeated death once and for all.

When you face fear, grief, or uncertainty, remember that your hope rests in the risen Christ. Thank Him that eternal life belongs to all who trust in Him.

Lord Jesus, You are the Resurrection and the Life. Thank You for conquering death and giving me the hope of eternal life. Help me live each day with confidence in Your promises and courage in every circumstance. Amen.

Today’s Verse

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are…”
(1 John 3:1a NIV)

What it means

This verse is about identity and love.

“See what great love…”

John the Apostle is urging us to pause and really notice how extraordinary God’s love is—not ordinary, but overwhelming and generous.

“that we should be called children of God”

This means we aren’t just followers or servants—we are adopted into God’s family. It’s a close, personal relationship, not distant or formal.

“And that is what we are”

This emphasizes that it’s not just a title or metaphor—it’s affirming certainty of an authentic spiritual identity

To take on:

God’s love is so deep that it changes who you are—you belong to Him like a child belongs to a parent.

Why it matters:

•It shifts our identity from “outsider” to family member

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
(Jeremiah 1:5 NIV)

What it means

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you”

God’s knowledge of our existed before our birth.
• God’s deep, personal awareness of us all
• Human life and purpose are not accidental
• A theological statement about divine foreknowledge

“Before you were born I set you apart”

“To set apart”
–means to dedicate or consecrate for a special purpose.

• We have a specific calling right from the start
• Our lives were meant for a sacred role, not just ordinary purposes

“I appointed you as a prophet to the nations”

This defines Jeremiah’s mission:
• He wasn’t just a prophet for one group, but for multiple nations
• His role was to speak God’s message, warning, judgment, and hope.

To take on:

Purpose before birth:
This teaching is that individuals have meaning and calling even before they are born.
Ask GOD to show you what your purpose is.

Divine calling:
Jeremiah didn’t choose this role—it was given to him.

God’s sovereignty:
It emphasizes that God is in control of history and human roles.
