A Family Given for the Gospel

The joy of pastors is not found merely in the encouragement or help of men, nor in visible success, but in the sacred privilege of being entrusted by the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to feed His sheep.

To open the Word of God week after week, to shepherd souls through every season of life — in joy and sorrow, strength and weakness, abundance and hardship — is one of the highest mercies a servant can receive.

The pastor’s joy is rooted not in applause, but in belonging to Christ and being counted worthy to serve His flock.

Throughout all of Scripture, the Lord often called His servants into seasons of loneliness, separation, and suffering for the accomplishment of His divine purpose.

* Noah stood nearly alone in a corrupt generation while faithfully proclaiming righteousness.
* Abraham left his homeland and family to follow God by faith.
* Joseph was rejected by his brothers, forgotten in prison, and separated for years before seeing the fulfillment of God’s plan.
* Moses spent forty years in the wilderness before leading the people of God.
* David wandered through caves and deserts while fleeing persecution.
* Elijah sat alone beneath the juniper tree believing he was the last faithful servant remaining.
* Jeremiah was rejected, mocked, and left to suffer because he proclaimed the truth of God.
* Jonah was brought into isolation in the depths before learning obedience to the Lord.
* Daniel remained faithful to God while living as a stranger in exile.
* John the Baptist lived separated in the wilderness, prepared by God for his calling.
* John the Apostle received the Revelation while exiled alone on Patmos.
* Paul endured imprisonments, abandonment, persecutions, and suffering for the sake of the Gospel.

And above all, Jesus Christ Himself walked the loneliest road.

He was despised and rejected by men, misunderstood, abandoned in His suffering, and yet remained perfectly obedient to the Father unto death.
Still, He endured for the joy set before Him.

Even throughout church history, this same pattern continued among faithful servants of God.

* Charles Spurgeon carried immense burdens, seasons of depression, physical suffering, and criticism, yet remained steadfast in feeding Christ’s flock.
* John Bunyan spent years imprisoned for preaching the Gospel faithfully.
* David Brainerd labored in isolation and weakness among unreached peoples out of love for Christ.
* William Carey endured hardship and discouragement while faithfully serving on the mission field.
* Martyn Lloyd-Jones reminded generations that the highest calling of a man is to preach the Word of God faithfully.

Many servants of God throughout history have walked through loneliness, misunderstanding, weariness, and sacrifice, yet counted it all joy because they belonged to Christ and were entrusted with His Gospel.

Yet behind many faithful pastors stands another often unseen testimony of sacrificial love: a faithful wife and children who also bear the cost of the calling.

Many wives quietly endure burdens, uncertainties, separations, exhaustion, financial struggles, and the hidden sorrows of ministry life while continuing to support their husbands with faithfulness and love.

Children as well are often set apart by the calling placed upon their family, sometimes giving up comforts, stability, opportunities, friendships, or dreams in order to follow where God leads their parents.

These sacrifices are rarely noticed or fully understood by most church attendees, yet they are precious in the sight of God.

The ministry of a pastor often becomes the shared sacrifice of an entire family.

Such has often been the portion of those whom God calls.

Yet the servants of God are never truly alone, for the Chief Shepherd walks with them through every season.

The joy of pastors is therefore not ultimately found in earthly recognition, visible success, or the constant support of men, but in the sacred privilege of belonging to Christ and feeding the sheep purchased by His own blood.

The Gospel is not just something we hear…
it’s something we live. ✝️

Jesus came near to us — so we come near to others.
He healed — so we bring Him to the broken.
He set people free — so we carry that freedom.
He paid the price — so no one is too far gone.
And He is coming again — so we bring hope.

This is the Gospel in action.

And you are invited to be part of it. 🤍

Join us this Sunday
Come as you are.
Bring your questions, your story, your heart.

We would love to welcome you.
