นับเป็นครั้งแรก!
ตลอดอาทิตย์ที่ผ่านมา พวกเราสมาชิกคณะพระมหาไถ่แห่งประเทศไทย ที่ทำงานอยู่ทั่วทุกภาคของประเทศ ต้องไปรวมตัวกันที่บ้านมีนบุรี เพื่อเข้าร่วมประชุมใหญ่ของคณะประจำปี เพราะเหตุนี้พวกเราจึงต้องเดินทางออกจากเกาะไปเป็นเวลาเกือบ 1 อาทิตย์ และกลับมาถึงวัดอย่างเฉียดฉิว เพราะเมื่อวาน (วันอาทิตย์ที่ 19 กรกฎาคม 2026) เป็นวันที่ทางวัดได้ทำการกำหนดให้เป็นวัน “ฉลองวัดภายใน” ของวัดนักบุญ อันนา เกาะสมุยในปีนี้ ซึ่งหลังจากได้ทำการ “สอบถาม” จากบรรดาสัตบุรุษลูกวัด ก็เพิ่งจะได้ทราบเป็นความรู้ว่า “นี่เป็นครั้งแรก” ในประวัติศาสตร์ของวัดเลยก็ว่าได้ ที่เราได้จัดให้มีการ “ฉลอง” แบบนี้ “การฉลองภายใน” (พอได้ทราบถึงกลับต้องมานั่ง “ทุบอกตนเอง” และกล่าวว่า “โอ้บาปข้าพเจ้า ๆหนักนักหนา”...555) แต่ทุกอย่างก็ผ่านพ้นไปได้ด้วยดีที่สำคัญ “สมฐานะ” วัดน้อย ๆบนเกาะของพวกเราเป็นอย่างยิ่ง
จริงอยู่ที่ว่าในช่วงนี้แม้ไม่มี “ฝน” ตกลงมา แต่พอพวกเราเริ่มที่จะมีการ “สวดสายประคำ” ก่อนมิสซา แล้วก็เห็นว่ามีชาวบ้านมาปรากฏตัวอยู่ในวัดเพียงแค่ 5 – 6 คนและเด็กคำสอนที่มาช่วยก่อสวดอีก 3 คนเท่านั้น แล้วแบบนี้ “วันฉลอง” ของพวกเราจะออกมาในรูปแบบไหนกันแน่ ก็ทำให้เกิดใจตุ้ม ๆต่อม ๆขึ้นมาเช่นกัน ที่สำคัญแม้ว่าการสวดสายประคำจวนจะเสร็จแล้ว แต่คนที่มาในวัดก็ยังมีเพียงแค่หยิบมือเดียวเท่านั้นจริง ๆ แต่พอจะเริ่มมิสซา ก็โชคดีที่มีนักท่องเที่ยว “ฝรั่ง” กลุ่มหนึ่งประมาณ 10 กว่าคน เดินเข้ามาในวัดทำให้จำนวนผู้มาร่วมมิสซาเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างเห็นได้ชัด จึงได้เริ่มมิสซาได้อย่างโล่งอก (555)
วันฉลองวัดแบบ “ภายใน” ของวัดเราในปีนี้ ขอบอกเลยว่าสามารถผ่านพ้นไปได้ด้วยดีและสมบูรณ์แบบเป็นอย่างยิ่ง เพราะพวกเราได้ทำการ “เก็บรายละเอียด” ของวันฉลองไว้อย่างครบถ้วน ไม่ว่าจะเป็นหลังมิสซาก็ได้มีการถวาย “กำยาน” พระรูปท่านนักบุญ อันนา ต่อด้วยการร่วมใจกันสวด “บทภาวนาต่อท่านนักบุญ อันนา” แล้วจึงเริ่มเดินแห่รอบวัด แถมเวลาแห่ก็ได้พยายามให้เด็ก ๆช่วยมิสซาเดินนำหน้าขบวนแห่อย่างช้า ๆมากกกกก (ถึงมากที่สุด...555) เพราะวัดเราเล็กแถมสัตบุรุษเองก็มีน้อย จึงต้องพยายามทำทุกวิถีทางที่จะให้ทุกอย่างเป็นไปอย่างเรียบร้อย - ราบรื่น และสวยงามตามท้องเรื่องที่สุด
และเมื่อขบวนแห่มาถึงหน้าวัดก็ได้จัดให้วาง “บุษบก” พระรูปไว้ที่หน้าวัดเลย แล้วจึงได้เชิญชวนให้ทุกคนร่วมใจกัน สวดภาวนา “ถวายตัวและครอบครัว” แด่ท่านนักบุญ อันนา ซึ่งพอสวดเสร็จก็เปิดโอกาสให้ทุกคนที่มาได้ “ถวายช่อดอกไม้” แด่พระรูปนักบุญ อันนา องค์อุปถัมภ์ของวัดเรา และในโอกาสพิเศษแบบนี้ ก็มีลูกวัดได้เอา “บะหมี่หมูแดง” และ “ชานมไข่มุก” มาบริการทุกคนที่มาร่วมมิสซาในวันฉลองนี้ ทำให้ทุกคนได้อิ่มบุญกันถ้วนหน้าครับผม (นับเป็นการจัดการฉลองวัดภายในของปีนี้ ได้อย่างสมบูรณ์แบบอย่างแท้จริง ชนิดไม่มีอะไรขาดตกบกพร่องเลยทีเดียว...เห็นแบบนี้แล้วก็ชักที่จะเริ่ม “ชอบ” การจัดฉลองวัดแบบนี้แล้วสิ...เพราะไม่วุ่นวายและเป็นการฉลองแบบครอบครัววัดของเราจริง ๆ...เอ...หรือว่าปีต่อ ๆไปจะ “ยึด” การฉลองแบบนี้ต่อไปอีกนานเท่านานก็ไม่เลวนะว่าไหม...555).........................................
For the First Time Ever!

Throughout the past week, the members of the Redemptorists of Thailand, who serve in various parts of the country, gathered at our community house in Minburi for our Annual Provincial Assembly. As a result, we had to be away from Koh Samui for almost a week. We arrived back at the parish just in the nick of time, because yesterday (Sunday, 19 July 2026), our parish celebrated the Internal Parish Feast Day of St. Anne Church, Koh Samui. After talking with many of our parishioners, I discovered something I had never known before—it was actually the very first time in the history of our parish that we had celebrated our patronal feast in this way.

When I found that out, all I could do was beat my breast and say, "Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault!" (Haha!) But thankfully, everything turned out wonderfully well and, most importantly, it was a celebration that truly suited our little island parish.

Although it wasn't raining yesterday, I have to admit that I was a little nervous. As we began praying the Rosary before Mass, there were only five or six parishioners in the church, together with three catechism children helping to lead the prayers. I couldn't help wondering, "What kind of feast day is this going to be?" Even when the Rosary was almost finished, there were still only a handful of people. Then, just before Mass began, a group of more than ten foreign tourists walked into the church. Suddenly, the congregation looked much healthier, and I was able to begin Mass with a great sense of relief! (Haha!)

This year's Internal Parish Feast was truly a success because we were able to include every important part of the celebration. After Mass, we offered incense before the statue of St. Anne, prayed together the Prayer to St. Anne, and then held a procession around the church grounds. Since our church is small and our congregation is not large, I even asked the altar servers to walk very, very, very slowly at the front of the procession (as slowly as possible! Haha!) so that everything would look prayerful, peaceful, and beautiful.

When the procession returned to the front of the church, we placed the statue of St. Anne on a decorated stand and invited everyone to pray together, entrusting themselves and their families to our patron saint. After the prayer, everyone was invited to offer a bouquet of flowers before the statue of St. Anne. To make the day even more special, one of our parishioners generously treated everyone to roast pork noodles and bubble milk tea after Mass. It was a wonderful way to end the celebration, with everyone nourished both spiritually and physically.

Looking back, I can honestly say that our first Internal Parish Feast was a complete success. Nothing was missing, and everything went smoothly. In fact, I think I'm beginning to like this style of celebration. It's simple, peaceful, and truly feels like a celebration of our own parish family. Who knows? Maybe we'll continue celebrating our parish feast this way for many years to come! What do you think? (Haha!)

นับเป็นโชคดี!
เมื่อปีที่แล้ว “จำได้” เหมือนเพิ่งจะเกิดขึ้นเมื่อวาน (ตามประสาความรู้สึกของพวก “ส.ว.” 555) เพราะเมื่อเพิ่งจะย้ายลงมาทำงานอภิบาลที่วัดนักบุญอันนา เกาะสมุย ได้ประมาณเดือนเดียวเท่านั้น ก็มีคุณครู จากโรงเรียนเซนต์โยเซฟ เกาะสมุย มาแจ้งว่า ที่นี่เราจะมีธรรมเนียมปฎิบัติคือ ในวันฉลองพระกายและพระโลหิตพระคริสตเจ้า เราจะมีการ “แห่ศีล” ด้วย (ก็ต้อง “ขอบคุณ” บรรดามิสชันนารี “ซาเลเซียน” เลยในเรื่องนี้ ที่ได้มา “ปลูกฝัง” ประเพณีอันเก่าแก่นี้ไว้ที่นี่อย่างยืนยาวจวบจนปัจจุบัน) ซึ่งในตอนนั้นก็ขอบอกเลยว่า “ยัง...งง ๆ” อยู่ เนื่องจากวัดที่เคยอยู่ก่อนหน้าที่จังหวัดขอนแก่นนั้น แม้อยากจะทำการ “แห่ศีล” ใจจะขาด แต่ก็ไม่สามารถที่จะทำได้เลย เพราะปัจจัยหลักคือที่นั่นมีสัตบุรุษมีไม่กี่คน พวกเราก็เลยไม่ได้จัดให้มีการแห่ศีลขึ้นเลยสักครั้ง จะมีก็เพียงแค่จัดให้มีมีการ “ตั้งศีล” และอวยพรศีลมหาสนิทหลังมิสซาแทนเท่านั้น
ฉะนั้น เมื่อได้มาพบเจอกับสถานที่ใหม่ และสภาพแวดล้อมใหม่ แถมยังมีตัวแปรที่สำคัญที่สุดเลยก็คือ ที่นี่มี “โรงเรียนคาทอลิก” ซึ่งมีทั้งบุคลากรและทุกอย่างเพียบพร้อม (นับเป็นโชคดีสุด ๆ 555) อย่างนี้แล้วมีหรือที่จะไม่รีบตอบตกลงในทันที เพราะในใจนั้นก็อยากที่จะจัดให้มีการ “แห่ศีล” แบบนี้นานแล้ว (...แต่ยังไม่มีโอกาส) และแน่นอนว่า เมื่อพวกเราย้ายมาใหม่ ๆการที่จะ “สื่อสาร” อะไรกับชาวบ้าน ก็ได้อาศัยเพียงแค่การ “ประกาศ” หลังมิสซาเท่านั้น ซึ่งก็ต้องยอมรับว่า “ไม่ทั่วถึงแน่นอน” และเนื่องจากในตอนนั้น ทางวัดเองก็ยังไม่มี “กลุ่มไลน์ของวัด” ขึ้นอย่างเป็นทางการเหมือนปัจจุบัน เพราะเหตุนี้ จึงทำให้ลูกวัดหลายครอบครัว “ตกข่าวสาร” จากทางวัด ที่ได้ทำการประกาศ “เลื่อน” เวลามิสซาให้เร็วขึ้น จึงทำให้มาไม่ทันมิสซากันเป็นแถว แต่ก็ยังได้มีโอกาสร่วมพิธีแห่ศีล
จากเหตุการณ์ในครั้งนั้น จึงได้ทำให้ต้องรีบตัดสินใจ “สร้างกลุ่มไลน์” ของวัดนักบุญ อันนา เกาะสมุยขึ้นมาด้วยตนเองในบัดดล (แม้ไม่เคยทำก็ “ปลุกปล้ำ” จนสำเร็จ...) เพื่อไม่ให้เกิดเหตุการณ์เดิม ๆซ้ำรอยต่อไป โดยเมื่อได้จัดการตั้ง “กลุ่มไลน์ของวัด” เป็นที่เรียบร้อย จากนั้นจึงได้จัดทำ “คิวอาร์โคต” ของไลน์วัดไปแปะไว้ที่ “ป้ายประกาศ” ที่อยู่หน้าวัดไว้ด้วย และจากนั้นก็ได้พยายามใช้สรรพกำลังทุกช่องทาง เพื่อให้ลูกวัดได้ช่วยกัน “ดึง” คาทอลิกทุกคนที่อาศัยอยู่ในเกาะสมุยที่ตนเองรู้จัก ให้เข้ามาเป็นสมาชิกกลุ่มไลน์ของวัดให้ได้มากที่สุด (ปัจจุบันมีสมาชิกในกลุ่มไลน์แล้ว 72 คน) เพื่อที่ทางวัดจะได้ใช้เป็น “สื่อกลาง” และช่องทางในการ “ประชาสัมพันธ์” ข่าวคราวต่าง ๆ ที่ทางวัดต้องการประกาศให้บรรดาสัตบุรุษได้รับทราบ ซึ่งก็ต้องบอกว่า “ช่วยได้เยอะ” เพราะสัตบุรุษจะได้รู้ว่าที่วัดมีอะไรเกิดขึ้นที่วัดบ้าง ในขณะเดียวกันก็โดยขอให้ชาวบ้านไม่ต้องส่ง “สวัสดีวันจันทร์ ฯลฯในไลน์นี้” แต่ให้ใช้เป็น “ช่องทาง” ที่ลูกวัดจะสมารถรับทราบข่าว และประกาศจากทางวัดเป็นหลักเท่านั้น และยังได้พยายามแปลออกมาเป็นภาษาต่าง ๆถึง 5 ภาษาคือ ไทย-อังกฤษ-ฝรั่งเศส-พม่า-สวีดิชในการประกาศแต่ละเรื่องด้วย (ทำขนาดนี้แล้วยังตกข่าวจากทางวัดอีกก็มีแค่เหตุผลเดียวเท่านั้นคือ...ไม่เปิดไลน์...555)
เพราะเหตุนี้ การ “แห่ศีล” ในปีนี้จึงเป็นไปอย่างเรียบร้อยและสวยงามตามท้องเรื่อง ที่สำคัญคือ “ฝนไม่ตก” ทั้ง ๆ ที่ช่วงนี้ทางเกาะสมุยฝนจะตกบ่อยมาก ๆแล้วก็อดไม่ได้เลยที่จะต้อง “ขอบคุณ” เซอร์อธิการ โรงเรียนเซนต์โยเซฟ เกาะสมุย ที่ได้จัดเตรียมทุกอย่างให้กับทางวัด ไม่ว่าจะเป็น “พลับพลา” - พิธีกรรม - เด็กโปรยดอกไม้ฯลฯ จึงทำให้วัดเล็ก ๆของเราได้มีโอกาส “สืบสาน” ประเพณีอันสวยงามนี้ ให้คงอยู่กับวัดน้อย ๆของเราบนเกาะสมุยต่อไป แถมเด็ก ๆ ที่มาช่วยโปรยดอกไม้ก็เป็นเด็กนักเรียนที่ไม่ใช่เด็กคาทอลิกเลยแม้แต่คนเดียว (เพราะเด็กคาทอลิกของเรามีจำนวนน้อยมาก ๆ เลยจับมาให้ช่วยมิสซาเท่านั้น) แต่บรรดาผู้ปกครองก็ยินดีที่จะส่งเสริมและสนับสนุนให้เด็ก ๆลูกหลาน ได้มาทำการ “ฝึกซ้อม” พิธีการต่าง ๆ จึงอยากถือโอกาสนี้ “ขอบคุณ” ทุกท่านที่ได้ช่วยทำให้การแห่ศีลของวัดเราในปีนี้ “อลังการงานสร้างจีจี” แล้วแบบนี้จะไม่ให้พูดว่าเป็นความ “โชคดี” ของวัดคาทอลิกทั้งหลายที่มีโรงเรียนคาทอลิกอยู่คู่กับวัดจริงไหมครับผม

What a Blessing!

It feels like it happened just yesterday—at least that’s how it feels when you belong to the “senior generation” (LOL). Last year, only about a month after I had moved to serve at St. Anne Church, Koh Samui, one of the teachers from St. Joseph School informed me that we had a long-standing tradition here: on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), we hold a Eucharistic Procession.

For this, we owe a great debt of gratitude to the Salesian missionaries who planted and nurtured this beautiful tradition here for many years. At the time, however, I must admit that I was still a little confused. In my previous parish in Khon Kaen, although I had always wanted to organize a Eucharistic Procession, it was simply not possible. The main reason was that there were only a handful of parishioners. As a result, we never managed to hold one. Instead, we would simply have Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction after Mass. So, arriving in a new parish with a completely different environment—and, most importantly, having a Catholic school with sufficient personnel and resources—was truly a blessing. Naturally, I agreed immediately. Deep down, I had long hoped to organize a Eucharistic Procession like this; I had simply never had the opportunity.

Of course, when I first arrived, communication with parishioners relied almost entirely on announcements after Mass, which, admittedly, could never reach everyone. At that time, the parish did not yet have an official LINE group like we do today. As a result, many parishioners missed the announcement that the Mass time had been moved earlier. Quite a number arrived too late for Mass, although they were still able to participate in the procession.

That experience convinced me that we needed a parish LINE group as soon as possible. Despite having no prior experience, I struggled through the process and eventually succeeded in creating one. To prevent similar communication problems in the future, we placed the parish LINE QR code on the church notice board and encouraged parishioners to invite every Catholic they knew living on Koh Samui to join the group. Today, the group has grown to 72 members.

The LINE group has become an important communication channel for parish announcements and activities. We kindly ask members not to fill the group with the usual “Good Morning” messages, but to use it primarily for parish information and announcements. To make communication even more accessible, every announcement is translated into five languages: Thai, English, French, Burmese, and Swedish. After all that effort, if someone still misses the news, there can only be one explanation—they never opened LINE! (LOL)

For this reason, this year’s Eucharistic Procession was carried out smoothly and beautifully, just as hoped. Most importantly, it did not rain, even though Koh Samui has been experiencing frequent rainfall during this season. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Mother Superior and the staff of St. Joseph School, Koh Samui, who prepared everything for the parish—from the altar of repose and liturgical arrangements to the flower girls and many other details.

Thanks to their support, our small parish has been able to preserve and continue this beautiful tradition. What is especially touching is that none of the children scattering flower petals were Catholic. Since our Catholic children are very few in number, they were assigned other liturgical roles. Yet the parents willingly supported and encouraged their children to participate in rehearsals and preparations. I would therefore like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s procession such a memorable and magnificent celebration. Indeed, when a Catholic parish is blessed with a Catholic school by its side, it is truly a great blessing. Wouldn’t you agree?

ต้องขอบคุณผู้ปกครอง!
ตั้งแต่ได้มีโอกาสย้ายลงมาทำงานที่เกาะสมุย ในช่วงแรก ๆ ก็ยังไม่รู้เหมือนกันว่าเรา “จะเริ่ม” อะไรก่อนดี แต่แล้วก็เห็นมีเด็กในหมู่บ้าน 2 คน วิ่งมาเล่นในบริเวณวัดอยู่เป็นประจำ จึงได้ถามไปว่า “อายุ” เท่าไหร่กันแล้วและเรียนอยู่ชั้นไหน ก็ได้รับคำตอบกลับมาว่า ปัจจุบันอายุจะ 7 ขวบแล้ว และเคยเห็นเขามาวัดในวันอาทิตย์ด้วย จึงได้ทำการ “ชวน” ให้มาเริ่มเรียนคำสอน เพื่อจะได้ทำการ “เตรียมตัว” เพื่อที่จะได้มีโอกาส “รับศีลมหาสนิทครั้งแรก” เนื่องจากพระศาสนจักรได้ “อนุญาต” ให้เด็กคาทอลิกอายุตั้งแต่ 7 ขวบขึ้นไปสามารถที่จะ “รับศีลมหาสนิท” ได้แล้ว
ซึ่งหลังจากที่สอนไปได้ไม่กี่ครั้ง ก็ได้เริ่มที่จะทำการ “ประกาศ” ในวัดหลังมิสซา เพื่อให้บรรดา “ผู้ปกครอง” จะได้ส่งให้ลูก-หลานมาวัดและเรียนคำสอน เพื่อจะได้เตรียมตัว “รับศีลมหาสนิทครั้งแรก” ด้วย โดยในช่วงแรกที่เริ่มสอนนั้น เนื่องจากพวกเราจะต้องเดินทางไปทำมิสซาที่เกาะพะงันด้วยในทุกวันเสาร์ จึงได้ประกาศให้เด็กมาเรียนคำสอนในวันเสาร์ที่ 2 และเสาร์ที่ 4 ของเดือน เป็นการสอนเดือนละ 2 ครั้ง เพื่อว่าวันเสาร์ที่ 1 และ 3 ของเดือน จะได้เดินทางไปทำมิสซาที่เกาะพะงันได้บ้าง และตารางการเรียนคำสอนก็จะเป็นแบบนี้เรื่อยมาได้ประมาณ 2 - 3 เดือน
ต่อมาภายหลัง หลังจากที่ได้ทำการ “สอนคำสอน” พวกเด็ก ๆมาได้พักใหญ่ ๆ ก็ได้สังเกตเห็น “ข้อบกพร่อง” ที่เกิดขึ้น นั่นคือเนื่องจากเราจะมาเรียนกันเพียงแค่เดือนละ 2 ครั้ง ซึ่งในแต่ละครั้งบางคนก็มาเป็นประจำ แต่บางคนก็มาบ้างและขาดบ้าง เนื่องจาก “ผู้ปกครอง” ไม่สามารถที่จะมาส่งได้เพราะ “ติดงาน” จึงทำให้การเรียนการสอนไม่ “ปะติดปะต่อ” เท่าไหร่นัก (จะเข้าอีหรอบ “ได้หน้าลืมหลัง” ...ย่อมไม่ดีแน่) ที่สุด จึงได้ตัดสินใจที่จะทำการ “สอนคำสอน” ทุกวันเสาร์ เพื่อให้การเรียนการสอนได้ “ต่อเนื่องมากขึ้น” และถึงแม้เด็กจะขาดบ้าง-มาบ้าง อย่างน้อยก็ยังสามารถที่จะ “ตามทันเพื่อน” เพราะต้องมาเรียนทุกวันเสาร์ ไม่เหมือนเมื่อก่อนที่ถ้า “ขาดเรียน” ครั้งเดียวก็เท่ากับแทบจะไม่ได้เรียนเลยในเดือนนั้น
หลังจากที่พวกเราได้ “ทุ่มแท” กันมาตลอดเวลหลายเดือนตั้งแต่ได้เริ่มต้นสอน บัดนี้ก็ถึงเวลาที่จะให้พวกเด็กๆ ได้มีโอกาสที่จะทำการ “รับศีลมหาสนิทครั้งแรก” กันแล้ว จึงได้ทำการ “กำหนด” วันที่จะให้พวกเขาได้รับ “ศีลมหาสนิทครั้งแรก” ในมิสซาของคืนวันที่ 24 ธันวาคม 2025 เลย ซึ่งสิ่งต่าง ๆ เหล่านี้จะเกิดขึ้นไม่ได้ ถ้าบรรดา “ผู้ปกครอง” ไม่ให้ความร่วมมือกับทางวัด เนื่องจากพวกเขาอยู่กันคนละทิศคนละทางแถมยังอยู่คนละฟากของเกาะ ก็ยัง “อุตส่าห์” ขับรถพาเด็กมาเรียนคำสอนอย่างต่อเนื่อง และในจำนวนเด็กทั้ง 13 คนที่มาเรียนคำสอนนี้ ก็มีเด็ก 4 คนที่จะได้รับศีลล้างบาปด้วย ในขณะเดียวกันก็จะมีเด็กเกิดใหม่อีก 1 คนที่จะมาร่วมรับศีลล้างบาปด้วย
ดังนั้นในวันที่ 24 ธันวาคม 2025 เวลา 09.00น. จึงได้นัดใหผู้ปกครองได้ช่วยพาเด็กคำสอนทุกคนมาที่วัดเพื่อ 1. ทำการล้างบาปเด็กที่ยังไม่ได้ล้างบาปให้เรียบร้อย โดยจะมีเด็กเพิ่งเกิดใหม่มารับศีลล้างบาปพร้อม ๆกันเลยอีก 1 คน 2. เพื่อให้เด็ก ๆได้เตรียมตัวแก้บาป ให้เรียบร้อยพร้อมที่จะรับศีลมหาสนิทครั้งแรกในมิสซาตอนเย็น และเพื่อพิธีกรรมจะได้ไม่นานจนเกินเหตุ เพราะเหตุนี้ วันนี้ บรรดา “ผู้ปกครอง” จึงต้องวิ่งมาวัดทั้งเช้าและเย็น เพื่อที่จะได้เปิดโอกาสให้พวกเด็กๆคำสอนได้เตรียมความพร้อมอย่างดีที่สุด
จึงอยากขอถือโอกาสนี้ “ขอบคุณ” ผู้ปกครองที่ได้เสียสละเวลา “เทียวรับเทียวส่ง” พวกเด็กคำสอนตลอดระยะเวลาที่ผ่านมา ด้วยความ “วิริยะอุตสาหะ” เป็นอย่างยิ่งไม่ว่าฝนจะตกหรือแดดออก เพราะถ้าพวกเราไม่ร่วมมือกันอย่างเหนียวแน่นแบบนี้ เราก็ต้องยอมรับว่า “อนาคต” ของพระศาสนจักรก็จะ “สั่นคลอน” เพราะพวกเราละเลยและไม่เอาใจใส่ร่วมกัน ดังนั้นจึงนับได้ว่านี่คือ “ของขวัญคริสต์มาส” ที่พระได้มอบให้กับวัดของเราและชุมชนคาทอลิกที่มีจำนวนเพียงน้อยนิด ในเกาะสมุยอย่างแท้จริง (ขอบคุณพระเป็นอย่างยิ่งเลยจีจีครับผม...555)..................................................
We Must Thank the Parents!

Since having the opportunity to move and work on Koh Samui, in the beginning I was not quite sure where to start. Then I noticed two children from the village who regularly came to play around the church. I asked how old they were and what grade they were in, and they replied that they were about seven years old. I had also seen them attending Sunday Mass, so I invited them to begin catechism classes in order to prepare themselves to receive their First Holy Communion, since the Church permits Catholic children from the age of seven to receive the Eucharist.

After teaching for only a few sessions, I began making announcements after Mass to encourage parents to bring their children and grandchildren to church for catechism, so they too could prepare for First Holy Communion. At the beginning, because we also had to travel to celebrate Mass on Koh Phangan every Saturday, catechism classes were scheduled only on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month—twice a month—while the first and third Saturdays were reserved for Koh Phangan. This arrangement continued for about two to three months.

Later on, after teaching for some time, we noticed a problem: meeting only twice a month meant that some children attended regularly, while others came inconsistently because their parents were unable to bring them due to work. As a result, the lessons lacked continuity—children would easily forget what they had learned. Therefore, we decided to hold catechism every Saturday, so learning would be more consistent. Even if a child missed a week, they could still keep up with their friends, unlike before when missing one class meant missing almost an entire month.

After months of dedicated effort, the time has finally come for the children to receive their First Holy Communion. We have therefore set the date for this joyful celebration during the Christmas Eve Mass on December 24, 2025. None of this would have been possible without the cooperation of the parents, who live in different areas and on different sides of the island, yet faithfully drove their children to catechism week after week. Out of the twelve children in catechism, four will also receive Baptism, and there will be two newborns baptized at the same time.

Thus, on December 24, 2025 at 9:00 a.m., parents are asked to bring all catechism children to the church so that: children who have not yet been baptized may receive Baptism (together with the two newborns), and the children may prepare through Confession, so they are fully ready to receive First Holy Communion during the evening Mass, and so the liturgy will not be overly long. This means parents must come to the church both in the morning and in the evening on that day, in order to give their children, the best possible preparation.

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the parents for the sacrifices they have made—driving their children back and forth for many months with great dedication, whether in rain or sunshine. Without such close cooperation, we must admit that the future of the Church would be at risk if we were careless or indifferent. Truly, this is a Christmas gift from God to our parish and to our small Catholic community on Koh Samui. Thanks be to God—truly and wholeheartedly!

.ต้องดีกว่าเดิม!
ตั้งแต่วันแรกที่เดินทางมาถึงวัดนักบุญอันนา เกาะสมุย คุณพ่อเจ้าวัดที่กำลังจะย้ายไปก็ได้พาไปเดินดู “สภาพ” ของบรรยากาศโดยรวมของวัดและอะไรต่อมิอะไรที่พวกเราต้อง “ดูแล” ต่อไป และหนึ่งในสถานที่ที่พวกเราได้มีโอกาสเดินไปดูก็คือ “หมู่บ้านคริสต์” ที่อยู่หลังวัด ซึ่งสภาพโดยรวมที่เห็นก็พอจะ “อนุมาน” ได้ว่าเป็นหมู่บ้านที่ถูกสร้างมาแล้วค่อนข้างนาน สังเกตได้จาก “หลังคาบ้าน” และสภาพโดยทั่วไป และจากบรรยากาศโดยรอบที่เห็นได้จากสายตาของคนปกติและทำใจให้เป็นกลาง (555)
และเพราะในวันนั้นมี “ฝน” ตกลงมา “รับน้อง” เลยทำให้ถนนมีน้ำขังเป็นหย่อม ๆ และในวันนั้นเองก็มี “ความคิด” ที่จะต้องทำอะไรบางอย่าง เพื่อเป็นการช่วยกัน “พัฒนา” หมู่บ้านนี้ให้มีสภาพดีขึ้นมาบ้าง (แม้สภาพโดยทั่วไปไม่เป็นไปตามที่คิดก็ตาม...555) และแล้วในที่สุดความคิดที่เคยมีก็ “ตกผลึก” เมื่อได้มีโอกาสเห็น “การจราจร” ในวันเรียนของเด็กนักเรียนโรงเรียน เซนต์โยเซฟ เกาะสมุย ที่เป็นโรงเรียนอยู่ตรงข้ามวัดพอดี เพราะทั้งในช่วงเช้าและเย็น เวลาที่ผู้ปกครองมาส่งและรับเด็กนักเรียน “การจราจร” บริเวณหน้าวัดจะกลายเป็นการ “จราจล” ไปในบัดดล
เนื่องจากทางเข้าโรงเรียนเป็นซอย จึงทำให้การจราจร “ติดขัด” ด้วยเหตุนี้เท่าที่สังเกต ในช่วงบ่ายประมาณบ่าย 2 โมง ก็จะมีรถพากันมาจอดรอรับลูกหลานเต็มบริเวณลานหน้าวัดแล้ว เพื่อจะได้รับเด็กและออกให้เร็วที่สุดเพื่อเป็นการ “หลีกเลี่ยง” การจราจร เมื่อเห็นแบบนี้ แรก ๆก็ยังไม่มีความคิดอะไร แต่พอนานวันเข้าก็เกิด “ปี๊ง” ไอเดียว่า แล้วทำไมเราไม่เปิดให้รถที่ทั้งมาส่งและรับเด็ก ได้สมารถ “วิ่ง” ออกทางถนนของหมู่บ้านหลังวัดหละ เพราะถนนเส้นนี้ยาวเพียงแค่ 40 เมตรก็จะสามารถทะลุอีกซอยหนึ่งด้านหลังได้เลย และถ้าทำแบบนี้ได้ก็จะสามารถ “ช่วย” ลดความแออัดของการจราจรบริเวณหน้าโรงเรียนได้เป็นอย่างมาก
จึงได้ลอง “ประกาศ” ให้บรรดา “รถตู้” ที่มารับ-ส่งนักเรียนให้ลองวิ่งออกไปทางถนนของหมู่บ้านเป็นการ “ลองดู” ผลปรากฏว่า “เห็นผลทันตา” เพราะทำให้เราสามารถ “ระบายรถ” ที่กำลังอลหม่านอยู่แถวบริเวณสนามของวัดได้อย่างรวดเร็ว จึงคิดได้ว่าเรากำลังเดินมา “ถูกทาง” แล้ว จึงได้นำเรื่องนี้ไปลองเสนอให้กับเซอร์ “อธิการ” โรงเรียนเซนต์โยเซฟได้ทราบ ซึ่งเซอร์ก็เห็นด้วยอย่างยิ่ง และหลังจากนั้นเราก็เลยได้มานั่งคุยกันว่า เพื่อที่ “ชาวบ้าน” จะได้ประโยชน์ในการ “เปิดถนน” ของหมู่บ้านในครั้งนี้ ทางเราเองก็คงต้อง “ทำอะไรบางอย่าง” ให้พวกเขาด้วย เพราะเราต้องใช้ถนนร่วมกับเขา
ที่สุดเราก็ได้ “ตกลง” กันว่าเราควรที่จะ “ทำถนนใหม่” ให้กับหมู่บ้านโดยการ “เทถนนใหม่” ให้เป็นถนนคอนกรีต เพื่อชาวบ้านจะได้เห็นว่าเราไปใช้ถนนเขาก็จริง แต่พวกเราก็ได้ทำถนนใหม่ที่สะดวกสบายให้ด้วย และแล้ว “โครงการ” ทำถนนของหมู่บ้านด้านหลังวัดก็เริ่มที่จะเป็นจริงขึ้นมา ด้วยความร่วมมือของโรงเรียนและทางวัด ได้ช่วยกัน “ระดมทุน” จากบรรดาผู้ปกครองที่มาใช้บริการรับ-ส่งลูกหลานในบริเวณวัดของเรา และเราก็ได้ทุนมาจัดการให้ “ถนน” ของหมู่บ้านด้านหลังเป็นจริงขึ้นมาอย่างเหลือเชื่อ และก็ต้อง “ขอบคุณพระ” เพราะในช่วงที่เราอยากทำถนนในหมู่บ้านใหม่นี้ ทาง “เทศบาล” เองก็กำลังมีโครงการทำถนนในซอยหลังหมู่บ้านใหม่ทั้งสาย
พวกเราก็เลยรีบส่ง “ม้าเร็ว” ไปติดต่อให้พวกเขาได้เข้ามาทำถนนเส้นนี้ให้เราด้วยเลย เพราะไหน ๆ พวกเขาก็ทำงานอยู่ตรงนี้อยู่แล้ว ที่สำคัญคือ พวกเขาเป็น “มืออาชีพ” อยู่แล้ว และหลังจากที่ได้มีการประสานงานและ “รอ” ให้ทางช่างมาจัดการทำถนนให้เราก็ต้องใช้เวลา 2 เดือนกว่าเช่นกัน เพราะเขาต้องเสร็จงานที่เขารับเหมาจากเทศบาลและส่งงานให้เรียบร้อยก่อนที่จะมาทำถนนให้เรา ที่สุด วันที่พวกเรารอคอยก็มาถึง และทางช่างก็ใช้เวลาเกือบอาทิตย์เหมือนกันกว่าทุกอย่างจะสำเร็จ และเมื่อเทถนนเสร็จก็สามารถบอกได้เลยว่า หมู่บ้านเราที่หลังวัดดูดีมีฐานะขึ้นมาในบัดดลเช่นกันครับผม (หลังจากนี้ “การจราจร” บริเวณวัดของเราก็น่าที่จะได้รับการแก้ไขอย่างลงตัวแน่นอน...)

Better Than Before!

From the very first day I arrived at St. Anna’s Church, Koh Samui, the outgoing parish priest gave me a tour of the church grounds, showing me the overall condition of the facilities and the things, we would need to take care of. One of the places we visited was the “Christian Village” located behind the church. From what I observed, it was clear that the village had been built quite some time ago—this was evident from the roofs of the houses and their general condition. And with an unbiased glance at the surrounding environment (haha), the impression was that the village had definitely aged.

That very day it happened to rain, leaving puddles scattered along the roads. It sparked in me the thought that something needed to be done to improve the state of the village, even if things weren’t in the best shape (again, haha). The idea became more concrete when I later witnessed the heavy traffic during school days at St. Joseph’s School, which is located right across from the church. In the mornings and afternoons, when parents dropped off and picked up their children, the area in front of the church would instantly turn into complete chaos.

Since the school entrance is located on a narrow lane, traffic congestion became a regular problem. By around 2 p.m. each day, cars would already be parked in front of the church waiting to pick up students quickly and avoid the rush. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but after seeing this happen repeatedly, an idea struck me: why not allow cars dropping off or picking up students to exit through the village road behind the church? That road is only about 40 meters long and leads straight into another lane. If we opened it up, it could significantly ease traffic in front of the school.

We gave it a trial run by letting the school vans use the village road as an exit. The results were immediate—it helped clear the traffic bottleneck in front of the churchyard quickly. This confirmed we were on the right track. I then proposed the idea to the school’s Superior, and she strongly agreed. Together, we also realized that since the villagers were letting us use their road, it was only right that we do something beneficial for them in return.

So, we decided to pave a brand-new concrete road for the village. This way, not only could we use it, but the villagers would also enjoy a smoother and more durable road. Thus, began the project to build a new road behind the church, with both the parish and the school pooling resources. We raised funds from the parents who regularly used the church grounds to drop off and pick up their children. With their support, the dream of building a new road for the village began to take shape—almost unbelievably so. And providentially, around the same time, the municipality had also planned to pave the entire lane behind the village.

We quickly sent our “messenger” to coordinate and get our road included in their project. Since their construction crew was already working nearby—and were professionals at it—it was the perfect solution. After some coordination and a two-month wait (while they finished their municipal contract), the long-awaited day finally arrived. The workers came, and within about a week the new road was completed.

When it was done, the transformation was striking: our little village behind the church suddenly looked upgraded and dignified. And best of all, the traffic situation around the church now had a solid and practical solution. Praise God! 🙏

หมู่บ้านคริสต์!
ต้องยอมรับเลยว่า ตั้งแต่บวชมาจวบจนปัจจุบันก็ปาเข้าไป 38 ปีเข้ามาแล้ว ก็เพิ่งจะได้มีโอกาสเข้ามาสัมผัสและเรียนรู้ (แสดงให้เห็นว่า...ชีวิต...เต็มไปด้วยการเรียนรู้แบบไม่จบไม่สิ้นเลยจีจี...555) เกี่ยวกับงานอภิบาลของบรรดามิสชันนารีทางเขตภาคใต้ ผ่านทางการอภิบาลของมิสชันนารีจากคณะซาเลเซียน ที่มีบรรดามิสชันนารีส่วนใหญ่มาจากประเทศอิตาลี ซึ่งแน่นอนว่าจะมีแผนงานและวิธีการทำงานอภิบาลที่ค่อนข้าง “ต่าง” จากบรรดามิสชันนารีของคณะพระมหาไถ่ ที่มาจากประเทศอเมริกาอย่างเห็นได้ชัด และเพราะได้มา “ต่องาน” จากบรรดามิสชันนารีซาเลเซียนนี่เอง จึงทำให้ได้เห็น “แนวคิด” ตลอดจน “วิธีการ” ที่บรรดามิสชันนารีซาเลเซียนได้วางรากฐานเอาไว้ให้ได้เรียนรู้และศึกษาไว้เป็นแบบอย่างได้เป็นอย่างดีเลยทีเดียว
โดยสิ่งที่เห็นว่า “โดดเด่น” เลยก็คือ ที่นี่ (เกาะสมุย) แน่นอนว่าเป็น “เขต” อภิบาลพิเศษ เพราะลักษณะทางภูมิศาสตร์จะเป็น “เกาะ” การจะเดินทางข้ามไป - ข้ามมา แน่นอนว่าจะต้องอาศัย “เรือ” เป็นพาหนะหลัก และในยุคแรก ๆ ของงานแพร่ธรรมในประเทศไทยเราไม่ว่าที่ไหน บรรดามิสชันนารีจะต้อง “ดูแล” อภิบาลคริสตชนที่กระจัดกระจายอยู่ตามที่ต่าง ๆ อย่างทั่วถึง แต่ “จำนวน” มิสชันนารีกลับมีจำกัด ดังนั้น แต่ละคนจึงต้องดูแลรับผิดชอบ “งาน” ค่อนข้างเยอะ เพื่อที่งานจะได้ครอบคลุมทุกพื้นที่อภิบาลให้ได้ทั้งหมด เพราะเหตุนี้ ที่เกาะสมุยในยุคแรกเริ่มก็จะมีมิสชันนารีแวะเวียนเดินทางข้ามน้ำข้ามทะเลมาถวายมิสซาให้คริสตชนที่นี่ได้เพียงแค่ปีละ 2 ครั้งเท่านั้น และต่อมาเนื่องจากมีคริสตชนจากที่อื่นเดินทางเข้ามาเพื่อ “ประกอบอาชีพ” ในเกาะสมุยเยอะขึ้น และการหาที่อยู่ที่อาศัยก็ลำบาก แถมยังอยู่แบบกระจัดกระจาย ทำให้เดินทางมาวัดและเข้าร่วมมิสซาจึงเป็นไปได้ค่อนข้างยาก เพราะในสมัยก่อนการเดินทางไป-มาและถนนหนทางก็ยังเป็นถนนที่ไม่ได้ดีเหมือนปัจจุบัน
เมื่อเห็น “ปัญหา” เฉพาะหน้าแบบนี้ คุณพ่อมิสชันนารีชาวอิตาเลียนคือ คุณพ่อ ยอแซฟ ฟลอลัสซีนี S.D.B จึงได้คิดริเริ่มที่จะจัดตั้ง “หมู่บ้านคริสต์” ขึ้นมา บนที่ดินว่างเปล่าหลังวัดนักบุญอันนา ซึ่งก็คงจะมีการ “ไตร่ตรอง” และปรึกษาหารือกันนานพอสมควร กว่าที่โครงการนี้จะได้เริ่มลงมือ เนื่องจากเป็น “โครงการใหญ่” และที่สุดก็ได้รับการช่วยเหลือสนับสนุนเรื่อง “เงินทุน” ในการก่อสร้างจากคุณพ่อ โรเซนส์ S.D.B. (คุณพ่อคนนี้เคยเป็นอธิการที่โรงเรียนอาชีวะดอนบอสโก กรุงเทพฯด้วย) ได้เป็นผู้ช่วยออกแรงในการ “ระดมทุนหาเงิน” มาเพื่อช่วยสร้างหมู่บ้านคริสต์นี้จนแล้วเสร็จ โดยจะมีห้องพักทั้งหมด 19 ห้อง เพื่อให้บรรดาคาทอลิกที่ย้ายลงมาทำมาหากินในเกาะสมุย ได้มีที่พักและที่สำคัญจะได้อยู่ใกล้วัด เพื่อง่ายในการร่วมศาสนกิจต่าง ๆ ได้ง่ายขึ้น
เพราะเหตุนี้ เมื่อพวกเราได้ย้ายมาทำงานที่นี่ เราจึงต้องมีหน้าที่ที่จะต้อง “รับผิดชอบ” หมู่บ้านคริสต์นี้ไปโดยปริยาย ซึ่งจะว่าไปแล้ว เราก็สามารถพูดได้เลยว่า “คาทอลิก” ในเขตเกาะสมุยนี้ ก็ต้องอาศัยหมู่บ้านหลังวัดนักบุญอันนา ของเรานี่แหละเป็นหลัก เพราะคาทอลิกอื่น ๆที่ย้ายมาในภายหลังก็ได้กระจายกันอยู่ทั่วเกาะ ซึ่งก็มีจำนวนไม่มากมายนัก แต่ก็สามารถพูดได้ว่า อย่างน้อยก็ทำให้กลุ่มคริสตชนในเกาะสมุยมีจำนวนเพิ่มขึ้นกว่าเมื่อก่อนพอสมควรเลยครับผม (...โปรดอย่าถามว่าแล้ว “ค่าเช่าบ้าน” ทางวัดคิดเท่าไหร่ต่อเดือน...ก็ขอบอกเลยว่า...น่าจะถูกที่สุดในเกาะสมุยครับ...เพราะมีบางคนแม้ไม่อยู่เป็นเวลานานเกือบปี...แต่ก็ยอมเสียค่าเช่ารักษาสิทธิ์เอาไว้... เพราะเกรงว่าถ้าคืนบ้านแล้ว เมื่อกลับมาอีกครั้งจะไม่สามารถไปหาบ้านเช่า “ราคาคริสตชน” แบบนี้อีกไม่ได้แล้วนั่นเองครับผม...555).................................................................................................................................
Christian Village!

I must admit that in all my 38 years as a priest, it is only now that I have had the chance to truly encounter and learn about the pastoral work of the missionaries in the southern region—especially through the ministry of the Salesian missionaries, most of whom came from Italy. Naturally, their pastoral plans and methods are quite “different” from those of the Redemptorist missionaries, who mainly came from America. Because I came here to “continue the work” after the Salesians, I have been able to see and appreciate the “vision” and “approach” they laid down as a foundation—something truly valuable for us to study and learn from.

What stood out most clearly was the unique situation here on Koh Samui. This is considered a “special pastoral area” because of its geography—it is an island, and traveling back and forth naturally requires boats as the main means of transport. In the early years of evangelization in Thailand, wherever it was, missionaries had to care for scattered groups of Christians in far-flung areas. But because the “number” of missionaries was very limited, each had to take responsibility for quite a lot of territory to make sure the pastoral work could reach everyone.

For this reason, in the early days on Koh Samui, missionaries could only visit and celebrate Mass here about twice a year. Later on, as more Catholics moved to the island for work, the situation became difficult—housing was scarce, people were scattered, and traveling to church was very challenging. Roads and transportation at the time were nothing like today.

Seeing this problem, an Italian missionary, Fr. Joseph Flolasini, S.D.B., came up with the idea of establishing a “Christian Village” on the vacant land behind St. Anna’s Church. Of course, such a plan required careful thought, prayer, and consultation, since it was a “big project.” Eventually, support came from Fr. Rosens, S.D.B. (who had once been rector of Don Bosco Vocational School in Bangkok). He helped raise the necessary funds for the construction until the project was completed.

The result was a small Christian Village with 19 rooms built to provide housing for Catholics who had come to Samui to earn their livelihood. Most importantly, they would now be able to live close to the church, making participation in liturgical and pastoral activities much easier.

Because of this, when we later came to serve here, we naturally inherited responsibility for this Christian Village. In fact, one could say that the Catholic presence on Koh Samui depends greatly on this settlement behind St. Anna’s Church. Other Catholics who later moved to the island are scattered around, and though their numbers are not very large, the presence of this village has certainly helped increase the Catholic community here compared to the early days.

(…Please don’t ask me how much the monthly rent is… Let me just say—it’s probably the cheapest rent on the whole island! Some people even keep paying for their rooms for almost a year while living elsewhere, just to preserve them “right” to return—because once given up, they might never again find such an affordable “Christian rent” anywhere on Samui… hahaha!)
