Charlesworths In Thailand

It is with a lot of sadness that I announce that our Thailand adventure is coming to an end.

It has been such a privilege to live amongst the Thai people and we have learnt so much from them and their culture. I am humbled by their kindness, resourcefulness, tenacity and ability to fit 4+ people on the back of a motorcycle.

We are coming back for medical reasons and right now it is necessary for us to be in Australia. We are also looking forward to reuniting with our friends and family.

Safe to say that we really have a heart for Thailand, especially Isan. It is my hope that we will be able to come back one day.
I want to say a huge thank you to all of the people that gave us support, prayers and encouragement.

I also want to thank ACCI Missions & Relief and many of our missionary friends for all of the wisdom and guidance we have received.

Thank you Harvest Learning Centre for being such an incredible and nurturing school for our kids.

Thank you to the Fine Arts faculty at KKU for all of the fascinating lessons on Isan culture.

We will be frequently thinking of and praying for this region from across the ocean.

It was 2 years ago that Sarah broke her ankle here in Thailand. Today she had the plate and screws successfully removed. The Thai doctors and medical staff are amazing.

UPDATE: NEWSLETTER

It has been a long time since we posted, we have been off social media during what has been a difficult season. We are still here in Thailand and plan to remain long term. Though we have recently faced some significant challenges we have also seen many blessings too. There is way too much to share in single post but there is more information in our latest newsletter.

We’ve got some new neighbours and suddenly I feel like I’ve inherited 2 more children. They even call me Mum 😂. It’s amazing how they all play together for hours with limited language.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Coming back to Australia (for a time)
Dear brothers and sisters in the faith,

First, we would like to say a massive thank you to all those who are already journeying with us. Your support, whether through prayer, finances or encouragement has meant the world to us.

As we come to the end of 2023, we celebrate nearly 2 years on the mission field in Isaan, Northeast Thailand. We have learnt so much about these incredible people and continue to work on building our understanding of local culture, language, and community as well as connecting with the local church. In this region only 0.04% of people are walking in a relationship with Jesus Christ and many have never even heard the Gospel. The harvest is indeed plentiful, and the workers are few.

We are currently only 30% financially funded and the majority of this comes from our personal finances. We recognise that to stay on the field long term we need ongoing sustainable finances. For this reason, under the strategic guidance of ACCI, we are coming back to Australia for 6 months to share the amazing work we see God is doing here in Isaan and encourage more churches and believers to partner and journey with us in the ministry.

We are the body of Christ and each member does it’s own special part. If you know of any churches or individuals that would be interested in supporting us please let us know.

An update of the last few months. Posted December 2023. We tried to keep it short so had to leave a lot out but here are some of the highlights.

The Charlesworth’s had a great time last night at the ลอยกระทง (Loy gratong) Festival. This is a very significant festival for the Thai people and they go all out in celebrating it! Very fun 😊. This was just one local celebration of the event. These take place for 3 days all over Thailand.

With a massive sigh of relief we would like to announce that Matt has submitted all his Uni stuff for this semester! Thanks for those who prayed for him during this time. University here is certainly different to Australia and it has been quite the learning curve.
