“Kamma (karma) is mysterious and immensely powerful.

Whether good or bad…
no one can escape the law of kamma.

If we could clearly see the good and bad actions
that we and others create—just as we see physical objects—

we would not dare to commit wrongdoing.
Instead, we would strive diligently
to do only good deeds,
to cultivate merit and virtue.

Greed and defilements in the mind
would gradually diminish,
as each person becomes mindful—
fearing unwholesome actions
and the suffering that follows.”

Luang Pu Plaeng Suntaro — A Warning to Prepare

“Volcanic eruptions, storms, floods, epidemics…”

A disciple asked Luang Pu Plaeng for permission to ask a question.

Disciple:
“Luang Pu, there have been many storms lately, including cyclones. Will there be even more in the future?”

Luang Pu Plaeng:
“There will be everything. It is the karma of people. That is why I say: volcanic eruptions, storms, floods, and then epidemics. All of these arise from the karma of people. Prepare yourselves.”

Disciple:
“Luang Pu, if we prepare ourselves, where should we go? What place would be safe? I have heard people say that we should flee to Khao Yai.”

Luang Pu Plaeng:
“Heyyy… wherever you go, you will still have to follow your karma. It depends on what happens. If we can remember ‘Buddho’ and stop [the cycle], then when the breath ends, there is nothing more to fear. If you can remember Buddho, you will go to heaven—so what is there to be afraid of?”

“His [the Buddha’s] teaching is for us to prepare ourselves by practicing Buddho, Buddho. If you can hold on to Buddho, that is already good. You will go to heaven.”

(Spoken in October 2018 / B.E. 2561)

November 2019 / B.E. 2562

The Venerable Master remarked:

“Hurry and practice meditation, because in the future many problems and various natural disasters will arise. People nowadays are very stubborn—they violate the precepts and go against the Dhamma.”

「The Five Precepts are the crown of the Ten Wholesome Ways of Conduct.
The Four Brahmavihāras are the crown of the 227 monastic precepts, for they make moral discipline pure and complete.」

Luang puu Boonsong

Dhamma Sharing by Bhante Hei when LP visited the Bhante Hei monastery.

Our life is short—lasting only day by day, night by night. We must strive to do wholesome deeds and not waste any time. Each day, what have we gained? What have we done? What have we practiced? What goodness have we cultivated? We must awaken ourselves.

Human life is uncertain. We cannot assume that tomorrow we will still be alive, or that we will live through this month, this year, or the next before we begin doing good deeds. Do not think like that about the future.

As long as we still breathe in and out, as long as life remains, we must quickly and diligently cultivate wholesome actions. For monks, this means striving in practice—sitting meditation, walking meditation. For lay devotees, it is the same. Whatever good you intend to do, do it without delay.

When making merit, giving alms, offering generosity—do it with determination. When keeping moral precepts, be committed. When cultivating loving-kindness meditation, be sincere. If we put forth effort, what will we gain? We gain virtue; we accumulate goodness.

Do not place trust in life thinking it will last long. But if it does last long, then all the more will we have the opportunity to cultivate goodness, increase our merit and spiritual perfection, and accumulate wholesome qualities. Our life will become ever more meaningful.

僧人应该努力修行——打坐、经行;

布施、行善、供养时,要用心要坚定;
持戒,要认真坚守;

Rituals held to eliminate bad luck/misfortunes is not able to remove the results of (negative) karma. If negative karma and effects due to non-virtuous actions in this world can be eliminated through performing rituals, then hell should not exist. Because if performing rituals can remove all misfortune, and truly eliminate negative results from the fruition of bad karma, then it is already Nirvana.

Many people may have heard the story of Luang Phor Prasit Punyamagaro , Wat Pa Moo Mai, and the serious car accident he experienced. It is said that when an X-ray was taken after the accident, doctors discovered that the bones in Luang Phor’s arm appeared unusually clear and translucent, somewhat resembling a mineral or crystal.

Today, let us learn about the story behind this incident.

The following is told by Luang Phor himself:

“If I have to go, then let me go. If I can survive, then let me survive.”

“This was already the third car accident I had experienced. At the time, almost the entire vehicle was on top of me, and it dragged me along the road for 37 meters.”

“Sometimes I still wonder how I managed to survive.”

“The vehicle did not weigh just one or two kilograms. It weighed two tons. The entire vehicle was pressing down on my arm. The vehicle itself was completely destroyed, with the whole body twisted and crushed into distorted metal. All that metal was pressing against my left arm.”

“Yet in the end, I survived, with only a scar. The scar has disappeared now, but at the time it took several months for me to recover completely.”

A lay devotee asked Luang Phor:

“With a vehicle weighing two tons, and so much twisted metal pressing against your body, why didn't the metal pierce through your body? Was it because of supernatural powers, or because of Luang Phor's accumulated spiritual merits (parami)?”

Luang Phor replied:

“Yes, there was something protecting and blocking it.”

“But I still had to go through the event, because it was my own matter—my own karma. Once it had passed, I understood.”

“If I had decided not to go that day, this would not have happened. But once I went, it was bound to happen.”

“Originally, I was supposed to leave on another day, but I changed it to that particular day. It was as though my mind already knew, and that mind kept urging me to go.”

After hearing this, the lay devotee said that if some people knew they might encounter something unfortunate, they might choose to perform rituals intended to avert bad luck or ward off misfortune.

Luang Phor said:

“Those are Brahmanical worldly practices. They are forms of worldly belief. Nowadays, people throughout the country are very attached to these things. Some people tie sacred strings around their wrists; some go through consecration ceremonies. These are all Brahmanical traditions, much like teaching people to place their faith in such things.”

“But if we put it simply, what we should truly believe in is karma.”

“Nothing is more certain than karma. Both wholesome and unwholesome karma truly exist. When we do something bad, there naturally will be bad consequences. This is something we must understand. If we do less, we receive less [of the result].”

“Wholesome and unwholesome karma are not completely unrelated to one another. Merit can protect us, and wholesome and unwholesome forces can counterbalance one another.”

“But when the karmic result truly arrives and it is something that must be experienced, then we simply have to experience it until it is exhausted.”

“It is like Venerable Mahā Moggallāna. He possessed tremendous supernatural abilities and could even travel through the air, yet in the end he still allowed himself to be beaten until his body was covered with injuries.”

“He still had to go through that experience.”

“In truth, he had already completely ended suffering. He possessed such great supernatural powers and could even fly through the air. Could he really not have escaped?”

“Yet he was willing to endure it. He was even willing to give up his own body.”

“Why?”

“Because it was karma he had created in the past—a debt that he himself had incurred. In the end, it still had to be repaid.”

“Therefore, we should believe in karma, respect the Dhamma taught by the Buddha, and place importance on making merit and practicing meditation.”

Today, Luang puu visited Ajahn Natee, current Abbot of Wat Pa Moo Mai ( Late Luang Phor prasit temple was the former abbot and a teacher to Luang Puu Boonsong). Luang puu also visited Ajahn Hei, Wat pa Chit Metta Tham

"The Buddha never taught us to have faith in miraculous powers. Even though miracles and supernatural abilities of teachers may exist, they are special to those individuals. Why should we get lost in their powers? If they can do it, it’s a personal matter of theirs. If we cannot do what they do, we may become fascinated and excited, but it's better for us to focus on practicing to escape from sin and karma. That is the true wonder, greater than any miracle."

Luang Pu Boonsong Thitthasaro

The Final Dhamma Teaching of Luang Pu Mun Bhuridatta

Recorded by Luang Pu La Khemapatto

“Those who claim that there is neither sin nor merit have already become numerous. The earth grows narrower with each passing day, while the human population continues to increase. Every worldly policy and pursuit is increasingly driven by competition and rivalry.

In the future, it will become difficult for us to practice Dhamma, because suitable places for practice will become scarce. Fields and farmland will no longer be secluded and quiet.

Religions and teachings based on wrong view will increasingly display their wonders and miracles. The ignorant will be led along like oxen and buffaloes, while those who are truly wise will become increasingly rare.

Therefore, all of you should hasten to practice the Dhamma, practicing in a manner appropriate to the Dhamma, just as one would urgently extinguish a fire that is consuming a house. Hurry and put it out without delay.

Make the mind become disenchanted and sober toward the cycle of samsara. Whether it is the inner world enclosed within this skin, or the outer world that constitutes the conditioned world, raise the sharp sword and confront it directly:

Anicca — impermanence,
Dukkha — unsatisfactoriness,
Anatta — not-self.

Contemplate these continuously, without distinction between day and night.

When disenchantment and freedom from delusion arise, you need not wish for them or seek them out. They will be attained naturally, in a cool and subtle way. This will lead to Right Liberation (*Sammā-Vimutti*) and profound Right Knowledge (*Sammā-Ñāṇa*). There will be no doubt about it.

These Dhammas do not disappear or pass away. They exist; they remain present in the present moment. When the mind is established in the present, with mindfulness and wisdom directly before it, all abiding together and harmoniously in that very moment — that is precisely where the Dhamma is.”

Sharing the photo on the construction progress of the Sala.

“The blessings or powers of the devas — they do exist but they are not something to be overly interested in nor are they a refuge.”

“It is better to strive to become a deva yourself.”

Practice well, maintain moral discipline, and make merit regularly. Make chanting and meditation part of your daily routine.

There is no need to invite the devas to come to you. They will come and look after you themselves.

Luang puu Boonsong was invited to Chiang Mai Wat Cheidi Luang and several other temple to receive alms.

During the visit, Kruba Kitsada and the Sangha together chanted blessings for Luang puu

Ajahn Hei and Ajahn Golf also brought a group of devotees to pay respects to Luang puu and make offerings to him.

“Do not become attached to this body of mine. Instead, hold firmly to the Dhamma that I have taught you.”

The great shade of the Bodhi tree of Chaiyaphum has passed away.

With deepest respect and profound sorrow, we pay homage to:

Phra Ratchaphawanawachirakhun, V.
(Luang Pu Chue Phanthamutto)
Former Abbot of Wat Khao Ta Ngo Udomphon,Nong Bua Rawe Subdistrict, Nong Bua Rawe District, Chaiyaphum Province,
and former Advisor to the Ecclesiastical Governor of Chaiyaphum Province (Dhammayut).

He passed away on Sunday, 23 August 2026 at the age of 83, having spent 50 Buddhist Lent years in the monkhood.

May we respectfully bid farewell to Luang Pu and send him onward toward Nibbana.

Teachings of Luang Pu Chue

“Some people stay right beside their teacher, yet still do not know how to meditate. They only keep looking for sacred objects and magical charms.

So they fail to realize that a steady, well-established mind is more powerful and more sacred than amulets or incantations.

Do not live right beside the salt and yet choose to eat alkaline ash.”

“The Dhamma has never deteriorated.
What has deteriorated is the human mind.
The Buddha's teachings remain exactly as they have always been.

We should open and examine the great scripture cabinet— it is not somewhere else.
It is right here, within our own body and mind.

Do not spend your time criticizing others. Criticize yourself more.Teach yourself more.

Do not interfere with other people's affairs.
First, complete your own affairs.”Thus it should be.

“Know what is heavy and what is light. Know, understand, and recognize things as they truly are. Be aware of what is happening within the mind and conditioned formations—
the process of thinking, creating and fabricating.

Most of the time, we fail to keep up with them. Our wisdom does not keep pace with these thoughts and mental formations.
So they deceive us. Do not believe everything they tell you.

Do not deceive yourself excessively. Once you understand defilements and mental fabrications, they can no longer deceive you.

Be mindful and know your mind.Whatever you are going to do, know it. Whatever you are going to think, know it.

Be mindful enough to see through them. Once you are able to keep up with them,
they can no longer deceive you and you can live peacefully with your own mind.”

“Morality is not contained within monks.
The Dhamma is not contained within temples.Morality exists in the person who observes it.

The Dhamma exists in the person who practices it.” “There are many who aspire to the Dhamma but few who truly know the Dhamma.

There are many who know the Dhamma but few who practice the Dhamma. There are many who practice the Dhamma but few who truly realize the Dhamma.

There are many who realize the Dhamma but few who become thoroughly penetrating and accomplished in the Dhamma.

There may be many who are thoroughly learned in the Dhamma but those who can truly reduce, abandon, and let go are fewer still.

So, my children and descendants, how far have we ourselves progressed in reaching the Dhamma?

Hurry and carefully examine your own mind.”
And his final teaching:“Do not become attached to this body of mine.

Hold firmly instead to the Dhamma that I have taught you. Then you will come to know and see what I have taught you.

That is the noble path leading beyond suffering.”

戒,在于有人真正去持守;

"... In the past, I was very strict. People were afraid to come near me, and I didn’t really interact with anyone. But now, I have softened a lot, though I still get strict from time to time. However, when I am strict, it is not out of anger or hatred. I have my reasons—I fear that you will fall into hell. I am strict because I don’t want you to end up there.

Some people do not know or do not understand what is right, so I have to be strict to make them aware and understand. I do not want any of you to go to hell. As my disciples, you must not fall into hell. If people know that you are disciples of Ajarn Boonsong and yet you still fall into hell, that would not be acceptable—it would be a great shame. It would mean I did not take good care of my disciples.

Everything I do, I do for a reason."

Luang Pu Boonsong Thitasaro
Wat Santiwanaram, Chanthaburi Province

The traits that people have carried over from the past differ in being good, bad, and neutral. Their potential follows along with their traits -- i.e., higher than what they currently are, lower, or on a par. Some people have developed a high potential to be good, but if they associate with fools, their potential will develop into that of a fool.

Some people are weak in terms of their potential, but if they associate with sages, their potential improves and they become sages, too. Some people associate with friends who are neither good nor bad, who lead them neither up nor down, and so their potential stays on a mediocre level.

For this reason, we should try to associate with sages and wise people so as to raise the level of our potential progressively higher and higher, step by step.

To swallow the rice that faithful laypeople offer, while oneself has not accumulated enough merit or devoted sufficient effort to spiritual practice and instead deceives the people day after day—it would be better to swallow red-hot burning coals. Train yourself while you can else after death, you will have to swallow them in hell anyway.”

Luang Pu Boonsong

"When you ordain as a monk, you must have teachers and mentors to guide and train you in order to develop good habits and learn what is right and wrong. You cannot become a teacher yourself just because you are ordained. If you do not yet know yourself, teaching others would be like leading them to hell with you.

Teachings of Luang Pu Boonma Kampirathamo
Wat Pa Si Panom Prachakhom, Sakon Nakhon

Not because the monks shaved their heads and wore robes is a monk. The point is that he must have precepts, concentration and wisdom. He doesn't scold others. This is the real monk.

Although he can wear robes and shave his hair, he will also create karma if he does not have precepts, concentration and wisdom.

If you go to hell and see a robe cloth tied on finger standing and pointing upwards, it means that the monks have fallen into hell. Not only lay people but also monks can go to hell.

Bad karma is not afraid of people who shave their hair and wear robes. Bad karma is only afraid of people with precepts, concentration and wisdom. Those who have precepts, concentration and wisdom will be able to go up, become a deva, a Brahma, and go to nibbana

Since we have become Buddhists, we must hurry and work to purify our minds.

Our mind is still dark and foolish. Practice purifying the mind and train the mind to have mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom in daily living.

And then, we will not have to rely on someone else. Relying on someone else to breathe for us is not being self-reliant. What if he stops breathing? We will also die along with him.

Therefore, we have to use our own nose. This is in accordance with the principle of Buddha’s teachings that we should practice being an island unto oneself, and taking refuge in oneself [Attadiipaa Sutta].

“If you don’t truly know, don’t go teaching others.”
— Dhamma Teaching of Luang Pu Mai Inthisiri

If you have not yet known, seen, or realized the truth for yourself, don’t go teaching others. At some meditation centers, laypeople come to practice, and there will be a leader who tells others:

“That monk has already attained this stage or that stage.”

But even the monk himself has not declared such a thing! Laypeople who keep only the Five Precepts—some don’t even fully keep them—start predicting who is an arahant. Is that right? Is that proper?

In the Buddha’s time, only the Buddha made such declarations. No one announced their own attainments. Even when realized, they did not proclaim it themselves. The Buddha himself revealed it. That is why the rule was established: Do not boast of superhuman attainments—meaning the higher Dhamma realized within oneself.

But nowadays laypeople are quick to label and predict about monks.

When going to practice together, some get praised and others not. So they sit in meditation, forcing themselves to sit still. But it is sitting through pain, hunger, fatigue, heat, cold, suffering greatly—enduring just to gain more hours of sitting. The so-called “leader” does not even sit, but paces around.

Afterward, he looks at those sitting still and says, “This one has reached this stage.” The moment he says that—delusion arises again. He has not seen his own defilements.

People like praise, not criticism.

Some leaders even go around asking:
“How is your mind? What do you see now? Do you see heaven yet? Hell yet?”

If the meditator says, “I haven’t seen,” they get pressured: You must see! Out of shame, they finally claim: “Yes, I saw.” Then the leader praises: “My disciple is gifted.” Soon, others follow. This is called “examining mental states.” Before long, everyone in the hall says they saw something. But after leaving that place—not one truly saw anything.

This is lying, forced by pride and delusion.

In truth, the Buddha never questioned like that. He never asked: Have you seen heaven yet? Hell yet? If the teacher is truly skilled, why ask in that way?

The Buddha already knew directly: how the mind was, what suffering was present. He pointed out directly: “Your mind is like this now. It is stuck here. It is suffering here. Why cling? The fault lies here.”* When the Buddha spoke that way, the disciple saw clearly, let go at the right spot, and was liberated easily. That is why arahants arose so readily in the Buddha’s time.

Nowadays people go around asking instead—without knowing, yet telling others to know. Is that right?

Once, Luang Pu was invited to a seminar to give a Dhamma talk. After he spoke for a while, the “leader” interrupted, asking meditators: “Is your mind calm now? Have you reached samādhi yet?” His words were correct in theory, but the fault was that he himself did not know—yet he asked others.

So Luang Pu could not bear it. He called the leader forward:
“Come here, sit down. Right now, my job is to speak. Only when I am finished may you rise again.”

Then Luang Pu continued speaking for four full hours. The leader struggled terribly—twisting like a dog struck with a hammer, unable to endure the pain—while his students sat still and unmoved.

That is how it must be. In the old days, Luang Pu himself trained this way. No one could challenge it.

(AttadiipaaSutta)

那个“带头人”坐在前面,痛苦得扭来扭去,就像被铁锤打中的狗一样,忍耐不住;
