ผู้รักษาสันติภาพที่แท้จริง เป็นคนอย่างไร?
สัปดาห์นี้ Grace City Bangkok ชวนศึกษาดูชีวิตของดาวิด ที่เกือบจะไม่ได้เป็นผู้รักษาสันติภาพของพระเจ้าแล้ว หากไม่มีบุคคลสำคัญอย่างอาบีกายิล ภรรยาของนาบาล ตัวละครทั้งสามในเรื่องราวชีวิตของดาวิด
(21)ดาวิดกล่าว ว่า “เปล่าประโยชน์ที่เราเฝ้าดูแลฝูงสัตว์ของ เจ้าคนนี้ในถิ่นกันดาร ไม่ให้อะไรหายไปสัก อย่าง เขากลับทำชั่วตอบแทนการดีของ เรา (22)หากถึงรุ่งเช้าแล้ว เรายังไว้ชีวิตผู้ชายที่ เป็นคนของนาบาลแม้แต่คนเดียว ขอพระเจ้า ทรงจัดการกับเราอย่างสาหัสสากรรจ์!”— 1 Samuel 25:21–22
อย่างไรก็ตาม ดาวิดเองก็ยังเชื่อและวางใจว่า “ชะตาชีวิตของเขาแท้จริงมาจากพระเจ้า”
(23)เมื่ออาบีกายิลเห็นดาวิด นางรีบลงจากหลังลา หมอบกราบซบหน้าลงกับพื้นต่อหน้าดาวิด (24)นางหมอบลงแทบเท้าดาวิดและกล่าวว่า “นายท่านเจ้าข้า ดิฉันขอน้อมรับคำตำหนิทั้งหมด ขอให้ผู้รับใช้ของท่านได้พูดกับท่าน ขอโปรดฟังสิ่งที่ผู้รับใช้จะพูด (25) ขอนายท่านอย่าสนใจนาบาลคนชั่วร้ายนั้นเลย เขาเป็นคนโง่สมชื่อ และความเขลาคงจะติดตามเขาไป ส่วนดิฉันผู้รับใช้ของท่านไม่ทันได้ พบคนที่นายท่านส่งไป (26)นายท่านเจ้าข้า เนื่องจากองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงป้องกันไม่ให้มือของนายท่านเปื้อนเลือดด้วยการลงมือแก้แค้นเอง องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใดและท่านมีชีวิตอยู่แน่ ฉันใด ขอให้ศัตรูและคนทั้งปวงที่มุ่งร้ายต่อนาย ท่านจงเป็นเหมือนนาบาลฉันนั้น... — 1 Samuel 25:23–26
เมื่อนางอบิกายิลเข้ามาพูดคุยกับดาวิดด้วยความถ่อมใจ มีสติ เข้าใจในความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างตนเอง ดาวิด และพระเจ้า นางยอมขอโทษทั้งที่ไม่ใช่ความผิดของตน แสดงให้เห็นว่า นางอบิกายิลรู้จักและเข้าใจว่า “ตัวตนของตัวเองนั้นแท้จริงแล้วมาจากพระเจ้า”
(32)ดาวิดตอบอาบีกายิลว่า “ขอถวายสรรเสริญแด่ พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลผู้ทรงส่งเจ้ามา พบเราในวันนี้ (33) ขอพระเจ้าอวยพรเจ้าสำหรับการ ตัดสินใจที่ดีของเจ้าและที่เจ้าช่วยป้องกันเราไม่ให้ ฆ่าคนในวันนี้ ไม่ต้องแก้แค้นให้มือเปื้อนเลือด.…” — 1 Samuel 25:32–33
สุดท้าย นาบาล ตัวร้ายผู้หยิ่งยโส ใจแคบ ในบทท้ายของเรื่องก็แสดงให้เราเห็นว่า ดาวิดไม่จำเป็นจะต้องทำลายนาบาลลง ด้วยจิตใจโกรธแค้น หรือลงมือด้วยกระทำของตนเองเลย “เพราะความยุติธรรมที่แท้จริงนั้นมาจากพระเจ้า”
สำหรับคริสเตียน เรากำลังดำเนินชีวิตในลักษณะไหน ตัวตนของเราสะท้อนความเชื่อและวางใจในพระเจ้า หรือยึดติดในตัวตนที่เราสร้างขึ้น? เราวางใจในชะตาชีวิต หรือกำลังค้นหาความยุติธรรมโดยฟังแต่เสียงของตนเองอยู่หรือไม่?
ใจและการปฏิบัติตัวของเรา สามารถเป็นผู้รักษาสันติภาพที่แท้จริงได้หรือยัง?

1 Samuel 25 — The Peacemaker
What does a true peacemaker look like?
This week, Grace City Bangkok invites us to study the life of David, who almost failed to become God’s peacemaker if it had not been for an important person — Abigail, the wife of Nabal. Through these three characters in David’s story, we are invited to examine our own hearts.
“(21) Now David had said, “Surely in vain have I guarded all that this fellow has in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that belonged to him, and he has returned me evil for good. (22) God do so to the enemies of David and more also, if by morning I leave so much as one male of all who belong to him”— 1 Samuel 25:21–22
Even so, David still believed and trusted that “The True Destiny is from God.”
When Abigail saw David, she quickly got off her donkey and bowed down before him with her face to the ground. She fell at his feet and said:
“(23) When Abigail saw David, she hurried and got down from the donkey and fell before David on her face and bowed to the ground. (24) She fell at his feet and said, “On me alone, my lord, be the guilt. Please let your servant speak in your ears, and hear the words of your servant. (25) Let not my lord regard this worthless fellow, Nabal, for as his name is, so is he. Nabal is his name, and folly is with him. But I your servant did not see the young men of my lord, whom you sent. (26) Now then, my lord, as the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, because the Lord has restrained you from bloodguilt and from saving with your own hand, now then let your enemies and those who seek to do evil to my lord be as Nabal....”
— 1 Samuel 25:23–26
When Abigail approached David, she spoke with humility, wisdom, and a clear understanding of the relationship between herself, David, and God. She was even willing to apologize for something that was not her fault. This shows that Abigail understood that her “True Identity is from God.”
(32) And David said to Abigail, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me! 33 Blessed be your discretion, and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from bloodguilt and from working salvation with my own hand!”
— 1 Samuel 25:32–33
In the end, Nabal—the arrogant and narrow-hearted villain of the story—shows us that David never needed to destroy him out of anger or take justice into his own hands, because “true justice comes from God.”

Does our identity reflect faith and trust in God, or are we clinging to the identity we have built for ourselves?
Are we trusting God with our destiny, or are we seeking justice by listening only to our own voice?
Can our hearts and the way we live truly make us peacemakers?
