Dear SCI family,
This Sunday at church, Pastor Tim shared on the remarkable story of Moses, a life that looked like setbacks, but was actually preparation.
Moses was born into danger, placed in a basket to survive, and raised in Pharaoh’s palace. At 40, after seeing the oppression of his people, he acted impulsively and fled into the desert. What followed? 40 years of quiet, ordinary life as a shepherd.
Then came the moment in Exodus 3:1-6 - the burning bush.
An ordinary day with Moses tending to his sheep. God appears in the ordinary moments.
Moses’ life looked like a step down, from palace to wilderness. But what seemed like a setback was actually preparation.
What if the season you’re questioning… is the very place God is preparing you?
We often want results now. But:
David waited 10 years to be king,
Joseph waited 13 years through trials,
Abraham waited 25 years for his promise.
The waiting season isn’t wasted. It’s where character is formed and humility is built. Don’t rush it. Don’t avoid it. There is no mistake where you are. Don’t mistake silence for absence - God is at work for you.
When God called Moses, his response was:
“Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” God was met with resistance from Moses, to which God answered simply:
“I will be with you.” (Exodus 3:11–12)
Moses didn’t realise that God had been preparing him all along.
40 years in the palace learning leadership and culture.
40 years in the wilderness learning humility, faithfulness, and endurance.
The wilderness wasn’t random. It was positioning.
The journey wasn’t wasted. It was purpose in progress.
God doesn’t build your confidence in yourself. He builds your confidence in Him.
He is your strength. He is the source.
God sees you in the slow seasons, the uncertain seasons, the stretching seasons. He is not wasting it. He is preparing you.
And the promise still stands:
“I will be with you.”
Have a blessed week ahead!
