A Special Divine Service Highlights Love at the Core of Faith

On January 21, 2026, in Sagbado within the Lomé Aflao district, Lead Apostle Vincent Yedenou reminded the congregation that genuine faithfulness to God must spring from love rather than from the pursuit of rewards. Drawing inspiration from Luke 15:31‑32, his sermon revisited the parable of the prodigal son, focusing especially on the elder brother’s attitude.

During his exhortation, the Lead Apostle urged the faithful to embrace spiritual growth in the new year and to place reconciliation at the forefront of their lives. “The elder brother serves out of obligation, not out of love,” he emphasized, cautioning against a faith that is calculated or self‑interested.

He criticized attitudes of comparison and service driven by the desire for recognition or applause. True joy, he reminded the assembly, is found in the Father’s presence rather than in material blessings symbolized by the fattened calf.

Concluding his message, Lead Apostle Yedenou posed a direct question to the congregation: “And you—what do you focus on in the church? The fattened calf or the presence of the Father?

*Easter 2024: Jesus Christ is resurrected*!

Christians around the world commemorated this Sunday, March 31, the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. The faithful of the New Apostolic Church in Togo found the joy of Easter in divine services. The basic text for most homilies is taken from Colossians 3:1-2. Everywhere the preaching revolves around three essential points. In Dzokope (Zio ouest) and Gati (Zio centre) the ministers exhorted members on the importance of having faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Then they urged the faithful to focus on spiritual things. And finally, they recommended the faithful to announce the resurrection of Jesus Christ to all by words and deeds. We cannot ignore the performance of Sunday school children in some congregations after divine services. In drekpo hagou (vo nord) there are choreographic dances. In dabada condji (Lomé centre) it is the institution of the Holy Supper which is performed on stage by the very youngest. In the congregation of Hedrzanawoe (Lomé ouest), for example, it was the choristers who rekindled the fire of the Lord's resurrection through well-inspired songs. In Sagbado (Lomé-Aflao) it is the same fraction of bread after the divine service in order to strengthen fraternal communion between members. The festivities closed in Lomé Aflao's district with an inter-congregation gala match organized in Wonyome.

Jesus, a lamp at my feet.

A new year, a new grace. All the congregations of Lome-Aflao's district gathered in Sagbado for Christian midnight. Prayer, praise and adoration were there. After supplications addressed to the creator, the faithful were nourished with the passage in psalms chapter 119, verse 105. The officiant was lucid, the word which is the Lord himself will enlighten us all year long if we give it entirely trust and apply it. He insisted on love of neighbor, it is the very center of the word, he affirmed. Let us have no fear, for working in the light, we will not stumble
