Church Manners

Tuck in your breasts and don’t display your thighs and butts – especially if you are seated in-front or leading praise and worship. Why distract the preacher and the other worshippers?

While in church, switch off your phone. Avoid chewing gums. And don’t dump stuff in church. If you must sleep during the service, do so in the back middle row. You can also yawn there.

Stop staring at people as they pray and praise – you too went to church to worship. And turning bible pages endlessly is also rude – you can do your private bible study at home.

Please take care of crying babies. And unless you have an emergency, don’t walk out till the service is over. Like any other organization, the church has bills – don’t go to church empty handed.

If you sing off-key like me, please reduce your volume. When others have finished praying, please shut up. For God is not a God of disorder (1 Cor 14:33). Finally, couples, go kiss at home or in your car.

1 Johane 3:9

No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.

“He received 39 stripes because 40 was known to kill a man. They wanted him alive. They held handfuls of his beard, and hair and pulled it out by the roots. They wanted him alive. They kicked, punched, and spit on him for hours. Until there wasn't a single spot on his body not covered in blood. They wanted him alive. They shoved a crown of thorns down on his head so harshly it stuck in his skin. They wanted him alive. After hours of being beaten, mocked, whipped, flogged, and tortured they made him walk with a cross. They made him carry it. A rough piece of wood with splinters digging into fresh wounds. They wanted him alive. They wanted him to feel every ounce of pain they could bring. He had to feel it in order to heal us. Crucifixion was historically one of the cruelest most tortured deaths a human could face. Hours upon hours of torture. Torture most of us can not mentally think of because the cruelty isn't normal. It isn't something our minds can comprehend. We celebrate Easter with pastel colors, happy children hunting eggs, and chocolate. Truth is there was absolutely nothing happy about the day Jesus died. It was cruel, bloody, and nasty.
He could have stopped all of it. He could have called every angel in heaven to demolish every person standing and shouting "Crucify Him!" He didn't. He knew in order to have a Sunday you have to have a Friday. He knew in order to have joy you have to carry your cross. He felt everything that day. He felt how your heart broke wide open when you had to watch your baby die. He felt how heavy your life was when you were staring down the barrel of a gun wondering if the man you called husband was going to shoot you. He carried the weight of the burden you have felt since your spouse died and life just doesn't seem right since. On that cross he held the ra**st and murderers, the sinner and the saint. He leveled every playing field and said ALL of you are worth it. He knew he had to carry the cross. He never promised the cross you

*What You’ve Never Dreamed*

*2 Samuel 7:18, NKJV* Then King David went in and sat before the LORD; and he said: “Who am I, O Lord GOD? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far?”

You may have a thousand excuses for why you can’t accomplish your dreams and for why you should settle where you are because you’ve reached your limit. But God is saying to you what He said to Moses, “Is the arm of the Lord too short to deliver?” (Num. 11:23). No, the arm of the Lord will deliver you, provide for you, vindicate you, and promote you. He’s about to take you where you couldn’t go on your own.
In today’s Scripture, as King David considered his life, he was saying, “I’m not the biggest, the strongest, or the most qualified. I was a shepherd and look where You’ve taken me.” He didn’t have to go after it; it came after him. God has some far-and-beyond opportunities that are about to come looking for you. It’s the arm of the Lord reaching down to promote, to elevate, to increase you. As with David, you’re going to look back and say, “God, look what You’ve done. I never dreamed You would take me to this level.”

*PRAYER*
Father, thank You that Your arm is never too short to deliver me, provide for me, vindicate me, and promote me. Thank You that You have far-and-beyond favors that are on the way. I believe that You are taking me to levels I’ve never dreamed. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Rich Heritage

Timothy, my dear son, be strong with the special favor God gives you in Christ Jesus. You have heard me teach many things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Teach these great truths to trustworthy people who are able to pass them on to others.2 Timothy 2:1-2

God had only one plan for propagating the gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth: word of mouth. One person who experienced God’s favor in Christ Jesus would pass that truth on to other trustworthy people.

If someone has passed on a heritage of faith that led you to salvation, then you have indeed experienced God’s favor. Who first opened the pages of Scripture to you? Who did the Holy Spirit use to bring you to salvation? Who discipled you in the truths of the Christian faith? All of us who have come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ came to faith through the faithful witness of trustworthy brothers and sisters in Christ.

It has been said that Christianity is always just one generation away from extinction. We have the wonderful privilege of passing on to the next generation the truth that someone entrusted to us. God may be calling you to invest time and truth in a young child, a coworker, a relative, or someone else’s teenager. Trust the Holy Spirit to give you the heart and wisdom to pass on your rich heritage of faith to another trustworthy person.

LORD, thank you for the blessed privilege of being used by your Holy Spirit in the lives of others. Prepare the hearts of those to whom you are calling me to witness. Give me boldness mingled with love, and let me not miss or shy away from any opportunity to pass on to others the great truths that have changed my life.
