Follow God

TODAY’S VERSE
“Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the LORD your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life.” Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Our choices can make all the difference in the world. We are constantly taking in data, predicting and weighing options. We make so many different selections each day we cannot keep count. However, some choices are more important that others. Vanilla or chocolate ice cream may not effect your world one little bit.

But moral or legal issues can alter your life. The friends you select, the things you choose to do to please others, all these have ways of influencing our lives. Who you are going to marry has a lot to do with the rest of your life. College and career decisions are important milestones.

But the one choice that guides all others is whether or not you choose to follow God. Moses calls it “choosing life”. And like many major choices, they are only as good as the thousands of little choices you make to support your decision.

Moses said that you can choose life by making a choice to love God, obey Him and committing yourself firmly to Him. Today choose to follow God in all you do because “choosing to follow God is the key to your life.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, today I choose You. I choose to live for You. I choose to follow you in all that I do. Guide me, direct me. Give me the strength to do this, in Jesus’ name.

Serve God

TODAY’S VERSE
“Acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts.” I Chronicles 28:9 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is easy to say that we are a Christian. There isn’t much of a demand being placed on that confession. As far as the world knows, saying that you are a Christian doesn’t mean much. Statistically the lives of Christians doesn’t differ that much from their secular counterpart.

But that is not the way God intended it to be. He doesn’t want lip service, He wants our lives. We have been called to follow Christ in the way we think, feel and behave. David knew the seriousness of following God. When he commissioned his son, Solomon, to build the Temple, he challenged Solomon to live Godly.

He told him to acknowledge God as the Lord of everything and serve Him with both wholehearted devotion and a willing mind. God doesn’t want pretense, He wants sincerity and authenticity. That is why He searches our heart and motives. Today, dedicate your life for His service. Decide to serve Him wholeheartedly.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for the opportunity to serve You. Help me to be true to You and to serve You with wholehearted devotion and a willing mind. In Jesus’ Name.

Perfect Peace

TODAY’S VERSE
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Perfect peace. I have a hard time comprehending that. Perfect peace. I take a deep relaxing breath just thinking about it. That is what God is promising us if we trust in Him. Why? Because He is trustworthy! He can be trusted. But trusting is more than just saying we trust Him.

Isaiah qualifies the kind of trust we need to have perfect peace. It is the trust that keeps our thoughts fixed on God. Fixed on His love. Fixed on His compassion. Fixed on His grace. Fixed on His provision. Fixed on His promises. Fixed on His almighty power.

Today, let’s experience that perfect peace. We can start right now by fixing our thoughts on Him and keeping them there throughout the day.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, I desire Your perfect peace! Please help me trust in You by focusing my attention on You and all that You will provide to get me through this day. Please, Lord, when my thoughts wander and peace starts to flee, nudge me and help me to refocus on You again. Thank You. In Jesus’ Name.

Lord, Do It Again!

TODAY’S VERSE
“LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, LORD. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known.” Habakkuk 3:2 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What is on your bucket list? Before you die, what do you want to see done? When I consider all that I would like to see, the thing that I long for the most is to see God work in all His power.

Like Habakkuk, I stand in awe of God and all that He has done. I read the Bible and my heart cries out, Lord do it again in our day. I long for signs and wonders to be manifested to those that don’t believe. I long for revival to break out in the Church and see all of God’s people loving their neighbors like they do themselves.

I pray that God would bring back the fervor of the New Testament church. I stand in awe of His deeds! I pray that God would renew them again in our day, in our time. Might He start a mighty work in our life and spread it out from there.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Oh Mighty God, I come in the name of Jesus and ask You to renew Your mighty deeds in our day. I stand in awe of You and all You have done and pray that You would do it again in this generation. Use me as an agent of your love and power I pray.

Listen

TODAY’S VERSE
“He inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I go and attack these Philistines?” The LORD answered him.” I Samuel 23:2 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is easy to read this passage and not get the significance of the spiritual moment. You see the truth is we worship the true and living God who wants to interact with us. Christianity is more than a religion it is also mystical relationship with God.

The Philistines were threatening the town that David was in and his men wondered if they should fight. David knew the odds were not in their favor but wanted to know what God thought about it. So what did he do? He asked God. And God answered him.

We talk about prayer and so we talk to God, but we don’t spend much time listening. God speaks through His word. God speaks through our conscience. God speaks through Godly friends and leaders and God speaks through His Holy Spirit. God speaks but are we in the habit of listening?

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I need to hear Your voice. There is so much I need to know from You. Please help me listen. Help me hear what you desire to say to me so I will follow Your will for my life. Today I come and pray with Samuel of old, “Speak Lord for Your servant hears you.”

All I Need To Do His Will

TODAY’S VERSE
“Now may the God of peace—may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May He produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.” Hebrews 13:20-21 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Isn’t it exciting to know that God is more interested in you doing good than you are? In fact, He is so invested in your success that He has equipped you with everything you need to do what He wants you to do.

In fact, the author of Hebrews says that God is going to produce in you, every good thing that is pleasing to Him, through the power of Jesus Christ! No wonder the author could finish this passage by saying, “All glory to Him forever and ever! Amen.”

Today you can bring glory to God by living the way He has called you to. Ask Him to help you do His will. Ask Him to provide all the power you will need to do every good thing that pleases Him today.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for equipping me with everything I need to do Your will. Thank You for Your power that You make available to me so I can do every good thing that is pleasing to You. Give me the strength to live for You this day. Give me the wisdom to know what to do, the courage to follow through and the faith to trust You with the outcome.
AMEN
