YAMBIO SYNOD ENCOURAGES FAITHFUL STEWARDSHIP

We thank God for bringing us to this day. This has been achieved because of your continued prayers for the Church of God.

Yesterday, Thursday, members of our Diocese of South Sudan and those from the branches began a two-day once in a while Synod at CEEC Christ the King Cathedral Yambio.

In attendance are clergy from Juba, Uganda, DRC, and across Yambio, as well as heads of departments of the CEEC Diocese of South Sudan, women ministry members, choir, evangelists, and Christians.

The synod was opened with a word of God from the Gospel of Matthew 25:14–30, which is the parable of the talents, where our Lord Jesus Christ used a story to teach about faithfulness, stewardship, and responsibility in the Kingdom of God.

In his sermon, Bishop Yepeta Nathan emphasized that we should go to our various locations where we came from and work like the three servants, being productive, not like the last servant who hid the coin without multiplying it.

This parable teaches the importance of using what God has given us—whether it's skills, opportunities, or resources—wisely and for His purposes.

OUR FAITHFUL IN THE DIOCESE OF SOUTH SUDAN DISCUSS CHURCH PLANTING

On Monday this week, we began the three-day training focused on church planting, facilitated by Bishop Bill Pazzurutti and other delegates who accompanied him.

Those who convened at Christ the King Cathedral in Yambio included representatives of our faithful from Uganda, DR Congo, Juba, Maridi, Nabiapai, Makpandu, St. Andrew, Holy Trinity, Diabio, and Christ the King Cathedral.

During Monday’s session, participants were divided into groups to discuss challenges and opportunities in church planting.

In his opening, Bishop Bill Pazzurutti emphasized his teaching from Luke 10:40: 'But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"

NEW PREACHING CENTER ESTABLISHED IN JUBA

On Saturday, the Bishop of the Church of South Sudan, Rt. Rev. Yepeta Nathan Sika, Diocesan Secretary Rev. Jackson Bullen, and the accompanying delegation laid a foundation stone at Paradick, north of the national capital Juba.

The newly established center, called St. Matthew Preaching Center in Paradik, shall serve the local communities around, bringing them together to praise and listen to the Word of God.

While at Paradick, the Bishop addressed the faithful and gave directions on where St. Matthew Church shall be built.

On behalf of the local authorities, Peter Korok, the area chief at Paradik village, and two women's ministry members welcomed Bishop Yepeta Nathan and the accompanying delegation, saying this will enable them to listen to the Word of God closer to them.
They mentioned they have been facing difficulties in going to church because their area is far.

Glory be to God for the great work He has done through His servants. During the Sunday mass at Gurei Preaching Center in Juba, our Bishop, Rt. Rev. Yepeta Nathan Sika, commissioned the evangelists to enable them to propagate the gospel. He also elevated two deacons to priests to serve in the church of Juba.

Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) says, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

We, therefore, believe that servants of God, now filled with the Holy Spirit, will go and preach the Word of God to mankind across South Sudan.

Our Bishop and his delegation visited Holy Trinity on Sunday for pastoral visit.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Christians and the Rector of the church, Rev. Fr. Victor James Ndukpo. The service was good, with two Catechists, three Mothers Union members, and twelve people for confirmation.

The Bishop preached, and the theme was to protect yourselves, protect the church, and feed my sheep. He emphasized being careful in this life to serve the Lord till the end, as Paul did.

He mentioned that the wolves that Jesus talked about may be some of our actions such as Adultery, theft, insult, and many sinful actions that may be like wolves in us, and we need to protect ourselves from those actions.

Many people attended, and the Mass was joyful, with praises and worship songs by Holy Trinity Sunday School, Christ the King Chairs, and Holy Trinity Choirs.

KNOCK AND IT WILL BE OPENED

Luke 11:9-10 is conveying that if you ask for something, it will be given to you, if you seek something, you will find it, and if you knock, a door will be opened. This implies that those who ask, seek, and knock will receive what they are looking for.

On the other hand, Revelation 3:20 symbolizes Jesus standing at the door, waiting to be welcomed. This passage suggests that if anyone hears Jesus' voice and opens the door, he will come in and have a close and intimate relationship with them.

"When we are in difficulties, let us come to God and ask Him, for He will see us through what we are going through at that time. That's how Moses did in the wilderness, and God gave them water from the rocks." Canon Gabriel Anikpara Mathew.

“Called … Equipped … Sent”

The Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 4 that the job of those called to lead is to keep on equipping our people and building up the body of Christ until we all attain to the unity of the faith.

We thank God that our Bishop of South Sudan, Yepeta Nathan Sika Usala is currently participating in the ongoing Synod 2023, taking place at Beach Church, Virginia United States.

Faithfulness Unlocks Heaven's Door: Revelation 3:8.

Revelation 3:8 strengthens me in my spiritual journey to heaven. "I know all things you do, and I have opened a door that no one can close."

What I mostly learn from in this quote is the level of my faithfulness is known, the struggle in my journey is clear to God. The crucial aspect is that faithfulness accomplishes numerous things, such as aligning your actions with God's will in this world.

Every action is observed by Him. A genuine believer serves as a manifestation of heaven on earth, with an eternal open door.

A believer can access heaven through prayer anytime, as there are no barriers preventing entry into their heavenly abode.

We are grateful to God for the transformation of one of the young men who has chosen to surrender his life to Jesus Christ and renounce evil.

The scripture encourage us to turn away from sin and find peace in Jesus:

Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Isaiah 55:7 - "Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon."

Matthew 11:28-30 - "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

The burning of the items he surrendered symbolizes the rejection of evil and the commitment to follow Jesus Christ. This act aligns with the biblical teachings of cleansing and purifying ourselves from anything that hinders our relationship with God.

We give thanks for this young man's decision and pray that he continues to experience the peace and blessings that come from a life surrendered to Jesus Christ.
