The Episcopal Diocese of Abyei (Anglican Communion) celebrated Easter Sunday with a grand ceremony attended by believers from different archdeaconries. The ceremony was presided over by Rt. Rev. Michael Deng, the Diocesan Bishop of Abyei, who ordained two deacons, 17 lay readers, nine badges, and confirmed 111 people. Easter Sunday is a crucial day in the Christian calendar, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, which occurred three days after his crucifixion. It is a day of joy and celebration, and Christians worldwide come together to honour this significant event.
The Episcopal Diocese of Abyei celebrates Easter Sunday with enthusiasm and devotion. The day started with the ordination of two deacons, who were welcomed into the priesthood with open arms. Seventeen lay readers were licensed to serve the church and its members. These individuals have been trained to read the liturgy and assist in the worship services.
The church awarded nine badges to members of the congregation who have shown exceptional dedication and service to the church. These badges are a symbol of recognition for their hard work and commitment.
Finally, 111 people were confirmed into the Anglican Communion. Confirmation is a rite of passage in which individuals affirm their faith and commit themselves to the teachings and principles of the Christian faith.
The Easter Sunday celebration in the Episcopal Diocese of Abyei was a significant event, a testament to the faith and devotion of the believers in the region. It was a time to reflect on the teachings and principles of the Christian faith and the importance of faith, devotion, and commitment to Jesus Christ. We are grateful to Rtv. Rev. Michael Deng and to all those who worked hard to make this event a success. We pray that God will continue to bless the Episcopal Diocese of Abyei and its members.
