WHO CAN BRING A CHARGE AGAINST THE ELECT?

PART 2: THE GUILTY CONSCIENCE ACCUSES MANY BELIEVERS.

READING ROMANS CHAPTER 8

Beloved in Christ,

Good morning to you.

Our reading of this revelation and power packed scripture continues.

Today, we repeat reading Romans 8:33 – 34 (BSB), which says:
“33 Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God—and He is interceding for us.”
In Part I of “Who can bring a charge against the elect?” we learned there’s ABSOLUTELY NO ONE WHO CAN ACCUSED THE ELECT OF THE LORD. NEITHER SATAN NOR HIS DEMONS OR ANY MAN CAN ACCUSED US ANY SIN because the LORD God, the Final Charge Himself has justified and counted us righteous in Christ. As long as you are in Christ and as long as you walk according to the Spirit, no one can condemn you.
The Guilty Conscience Still Condemns Many Believers
However, there’s only one person who still condemns many believers – this person is the guilty conscience. The guilty conscience within most followers of Christ continue to condemn them and make them fill guilty even though they have sincerely repented of their sin and the Heavenly Father has forgiven and cleansed them with the blood of Jesus from all their sins. This is the biggest challenge that most believers in walk of righteousness.
To have a guilty conscience is to be conscious and aware of one's sin. It results in one remembering and feeling sorrowful about what they had said or done or what they hadn’t done or said. The guilty consciences flashes one’s memory to the sin incident, plays the incident and makes the sin fresh as if it is being done now. This is causes the person to feel sad and guilty within their soul.
The guilt consciousness is the burden of sin that a person's soul feels. This is because sin is so cumbersome. It is dreadful. It is so heavy for a sin to carry. Sin weighs down the soul of the sinner. Sin makes the soul sick until it causes the soul to die. That’s why is written:
“The soul that sins shall die” (Ezekiel 18:20).
Woe! Sin is terrible! It is the only killer of the soul. Sin troubles the soul persistently. It is makes the soul of man to be weary and heavy-laden. Sin chocks the soul and squeezes the life of God out of it. Sin sucks life out of the soul until it suffocates the soul thereby causing the soul to wither and die.
It suffices to point out that being conscious of one’s sin is both good and bad. The Holy Spirit explains it in 2 Corinthians 7:10 as follows:
“For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.”
Having a guilty conscience is good when a person has sinned but has not repented of their sins. Therefore, the sin guilty continues to trouble and weigh their soul down. When such a man hears the Word of God, the Holy Spirit convicts them, they comes sorrowful for their sin and they repent, turn to Jesus Christ and He saved them of their sin.
A classic biblical example of a good guilt conscience is given to us in 2 Samuel 12. We see Prophet Nathan confronting king David for having committed adultery with Bathsheba, Uriah’s wife, he got her pregnant, he arranges her husband’s murder, he is killed and thereafter David takes Uriah’s widow to himself as his fourth wife. When confronted, king David realizes his sin, his consciences troubles him, he tore his royal garment, humbled himself before the LORD his God and he cried out saying:
“1 Have mercy upon me, O God,
According to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
Blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions,
And my sin is always before me.

4 Against You, You only, have I sinned,
And done this evil in Your sight—
That You may be found just when You speak,
And blameless when You judge.

5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
And in sin my mother conceived me.
6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,
And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.

7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”
A godly guilty conscience made David to repent from his sin and God forgave Him and restore the Holy Spirit within him. From this classic example and many other examples such as that of the Prodigal Son and Simon Peter, we see that a good guilty conscience makes the sinner to realize the gravity of their sin and that they have sinned against God and this makes them to turn to God, repents from their sin and God saves them. A good guilty conscience surely leads to salvation.
However, having a lingering guilty conscience even after one has sincerely repented is not good. A guilty conscience persists because of one’s failure to understand and believe who the Heavenly Father is. By nature, the LORD God loves us eternally and because of His great love towards, He bestows His mercies upon and forgives us of our sins (Ephesians 2:4). King David understood God very well. Whenever he sinned against God, He applied to God’s love and God’s mercy. Once God told David that he was forgiven of his sins, David believed God and he no longer bore or felt guilty for His sin. He believed and trusted God with all his heart. He loved God and he was sure of God’s love, mercy and faithfulness.
For us to do away with the guilty conscience, we have know and be assured that God is faithful to Himself and to His word. 1 John 1: 19, the Holy Spirit assures us that
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Likewise in 1 John 5:14, He says:
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”
He further assures in Hebrews 9:14, saying:
“Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins."
So, once you have repented of your sins, you should delight yourself in the Father’s love, mercy and faithfulness that He has already forgive you of all your sins and cleansed you with the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit has told me that carrying the sin guilty is the biggest hindrance that most believers face. It hinders them from attaining the righteousness that the Heavenly Father has accounted to them by virtue of the finished works of Christ. He said that many followers of Christ still have guilty conscience of the sins for which the Father already forgave and blotted away. The Holy Spirit explained that the guilty in a believer’s conscience is a footstool (stepping stone/leverage) that satan uses to remind the believers of their old pleasures of sin life thereby drawing and drowning them back in that sin. He pointed out that for a believer to remain righteous, they must do away with their old ways of sin. They must neither remember it nor feel guilty of about it. They are new in Christ. They are righteous in Christ.
Beloved, you should rest and delight yourself in the promises of the LORD’s forgiveness. Please read and meditate upon the following promises:
Psalms 103:1-5, 8-14:

“1Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s...
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
9 He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor punished us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
12 As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
13 As a father pities his children,
So the Lord pities those who fear Him.
14 For He knows our frame;
He remembers that we are dust.”

But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 💞 103 BIBLE VERSES ABOUT THE DAY OF THE LORD

Compiled by Apostle Moses Bainipai Oliver of the Greater Love Family (in Juba, South Sudan) for all those who are washing their garments with the precious blood of Jesus Christ, keeping them clean, spotless and without any wrinkles and they are passionately looking forward to the glorious return our Lord Jesus Christ.

Please take time and read all these verses till you find number 103. Every verse is a blessing in its own right and when you read it, it will bless you exceedingly.

Now read all of them sequentially.

1. Isaiah 24:21-22:

"So it will happen in that day,

That the LORD will punish the host of heaven on high,

And the kings of the earth on earth.

They will be gathered together

Like prisoners in the dungeon,

And will be confined in prison;

And after many days they will be punished."

2. Zephaniah 1:14-18:

"Near is the great day of the Lord,

Near and coming very quickly;

Listen, the day of the Lord!

In it the warrior cries out bitterly.

A day of wrath is that day,

A day of trouble and distress,

A day of destruction and desolation,

A day of darkness and gloom,

A day of clouds and thick darkness,

A day of trumpet and battle cry

Against the fortified cities

And the high corner towers.”

3. Isaiah 13:9-11:

“Behold, the day of the Lord is coming,

Cruel, with fury and burning anger,

To make the land a desolation;

And He will exterminate its sinners from it.

For the stars of heaven and their constellations

Will not flash forth their light;

The sun will be dark when it rises

And the moon will not shed its light.

Thus I will punish the world for its evil

And the wicked for their iniquity;

I will also put an end to the arrogance of the proud

And abase the haughtiness of the ruthless.”

4. Jeremiah 46:10:

“For that day belongs to the Lord God of hosts,

A day of vengeance, so as to avenge Himself on His foes;

And the sword will devour and be satiated

And drink its fill of their blood;

For there will be a slaughter for the Lord God of hosts,

In the land of the north by the river Euphrates.”

4. Job 20:28-29:

“The increase of his house will depart;

His possessions will flow away in the day of His anger.

“This is the wicked man’s portion from God,

Even the heritage decreed to him by God.”

6. Isaiah 13:4-6:

“A sound of tumult on the mountains,

Like that of many people!

A sound of the uproar of kingdoms,

Of nations gathered together!

The Lord of hosts is mustering the army for battle.

They are coming from a far country,

From the farthest horizons,

The Lord and His instruments of indignation,

To destroy the whole land.

Wail, for the day of the Lord is near!

It will come as destruction from the Almighty.”

7. Isaiah 19:16-17:

“In that day the Egyptians will become like women, and they will tremble and be in dread because of the waving of the hand of the Lord of hosts, which He is going to wave over them. The land of Judah will become a terror to Egypt; everyone to whom it is mentioned will be in dread of it, because of the purpose of the Lord of hosts which He is purposing against them.”

8. Ezekiel 30:3-4:

“For the day is near,

Even the day of the Lord is near;

It will be a day of clouds,

A time of doom for the nations.

“A sword will come upon Egypt,

And anguish will be in Ethiopia;

When the slain fall in Egypt,

They take away her wealth,

And her foundations are torn down.”

9.Isaiah 27:1:

“In that day the Lord will punish Leviathan the fleeing

serpent,

With His fierce and great and mighty sword,

Even Leviathan the twisted serpent;

And He will kill the dragon who lives in the sea.”

10. Joel 3:12-14:

“Let the nations be aroused

And come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat,

For there I will sit to judge

All the surrounding nations.

Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe.

Come, tread, for the wine press is full;

The vats overflow, for their wickedness is great.

Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!

For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.”

11. Zephaniah 3:8

“Therefore wait for Me,” declares the Lord,

“For the day when I rise up as a witness.

Indeed, My decision is to gather nations,

To assemble kingdoms,

To pour out on them My indignation,

All My burning anger;

For all the earth will be devoured

By the fire of My zeal.”

12. Romans 2:16:

“On the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.”

13. Revelation 6:15-17:

“Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; and they *said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

14. Amos 5:18-20:

“Alas, you who are longing for the day of the Lord,

For what purpose will the day of the Lord be to you?

It will be darkness and not light;

As when a man flees from a lion

And a bear meets him,

Or goes home, leans his hand against the wall

And a snake bites him.

Will not the day of the Lord be darkness instead of light,

Even gloom with no brightness in it?”

15. Isaiah 2:12:

“For the Lord of hosts will have a day of reckoning

Against everyone who is proud and lofty

And against everyone who is lifted up,

That he may be abased.”

“Alas for the day!

For the day of the Lord is near,

And it will come as destruction from the Almighty.”

17. Joel 2:1-2:

“Blow a trumpet in Zion,

And sound an alarm on My holy mountain!

Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble,

For the day of the Lord is coming;

Surely it is near,

A day of darkness and gloom,

A day of clouds and thick darkness.

As the dawn is spread over the mountains,

So there is a great and mighty people;

There has never been anything like it,

Nor will there be again after it

To the years of many generations.”

18. Matthew 7:22-23

“Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.”

19. John 12:48:

“He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.”

21. Jeremiah 30:7-8

‘Alas! for that day is great,
There is none like it;
And it is the time of Jacob’s distress,
But he will be saved from it. ‘It shall come about on that day,’ declares the Lord of hosts, ‘that I will break his yoke from off their neck and will tear off their bonds; and strangers will no longer make them their slaves.”

22. Joel 2:23-28:

“So rejoice, O sons of Zion,

And be glad in the Lord your God;

For He has given you the early rain for your vindication.

And He has poured down for you the rain,

The early and latter rain as before.

The threshing floors will be full of grain,

And the vats will overflow with the new wine and oil.

“Then I will make up to you for the years

That the swarming locust has eaten,

The creeping locust, the stripping locust and the gnawing locust,

My great army which I sent among you.

read more.”

23. Isaiah 11:11:

From now on and forever.”

He has cleared away your enemies.”

Then you will know that I am the Lord your God,

Dwelling in Zion, My holy mountain.

So Jerusalem will be holy,

And strangers will pass through it no more. And in that day

To water the valley of Sh*ttim.”

On My holy mountain. “But I will leave among you
A humble and lowly people,
And they will take refuge in the name of the Lord.

With no one to make them tremble.”
