“Momentum Integrated Health Resilience Project Launched in South Sudan

Following an inception meeting held on 25 May 2026, the South Sudan Council of Churches, in collaboration with the African Christian Health Associations Platform and the Ministry of Health (South Sudan), officially launched the Momentum Integrated Health Resilience Project under the SSCC Health Department Unit.

The initiative aims to strengthen faith-based and community health systems by expanding access to compassionate, quality healthcare services across South Sudan, particularly in maternal health, disease prevention, and grassroots service delivery.

Speaking during the meeting, SSCC Project Lead Mr Tut Thomas Simon highlighted the project’s focus on responsive, community-centred healthcare services.

Rev. Tut Nyang Kon, General Secretary of SSCC, called for stronger collaboration among churches and partners to improve health outcomes at the community level.

“The church must take responsibility in supporting community health services and reaching people at the grassroots level… Together, we can build healthier, stronger, and more peaceful communities across South Sudan.”

Juba, South Sudan | The South Sudan Council of Churches strengthened its collaboration with World Vision in South Sudan by signing a Memorandum of Understanding at a ceremonial meeting held in Juba.

During the meeting, Dr Mesfin Loha, Country Director of World Vision South Sudan, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to working alongside the Council of Churches in serving vulnerable children, women, and communities across South Sudan.

The engagement highlighted a shared vision for peacebuilding, justice, advocacy, and human dignity through faith-based collaboration. Together, the two institutions will continue strengthening partnerships that bring hope, transformation, and lasting impact to the people of South Sudan.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Council emphasised the importance of unity, faith, and partnership in serving the people of South Sudan.

He described the gathering as a family meeting built on service rather than business, reaffirming the Council’s commitment to supporting vulnerable children, empowering women, promoting peace, and strengthening communities affected by conflict and displacement.

“The unity of vision is more important than the activities or resources that come with partnership. Let us dream together, collaborate together, and work together for peace, justice, and the dignity of our people.”

“May God bless this partnership and open greater doors for service to humanity.”

“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” Book of Genesis 2:15

Juba, South Sudan, Today, 01/04/2026, the SSouth Sudan Council of Churches women and youth of faith, came together to plant trees across all ten member churches. What started as a simple act has slowly grown into something more meaningful, a shared responsibility, a tradition, and a quiet way of strengthening unity among women’s groups, youth, and the wider church community.

There was something powerful in the simplicity of it. Hands in the soil, different groups working side by side, not just talking about unity, but living it out. In a time when environmental challenges feel overwhelming, this felt like a grounded, honest response, doing what we can, where we are.

Today can be a small beginning for all of us. Plant a tree at home, at school, at a hospital, wherever you can. Sometimes caring for the earth doesn’t need to be complicated. It just needs to start.
