Join us for a landmark conference on the judgments of African Union human rights bodies, hosted by the South African National Research Foundation Chair in International Constitutional Law, the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, and Monash University.

Taking place on 25–26 June 2026 at Future Africa, University of Pretoria, this conference will bring together scholars, practitioners, and human rights experts to reflect on and critically engage with the evolving jurisprudence of African Union human rights bodies.

The conference will explore what makes a judgment "landmark" within the African human rights system and revisit selected decisions through innovative rewriting approaches. The event will be held in a hybrid format, and attendance is free of charge.

Date: 25–26 June 2026
Venue: Future Africa, University of Pretoria

Justice is the foundation of:

➡️Human development
➡️Sustainable growth
➡️Gender equality

Yet today, over 5 billion people still lack meaningful access to justice.

We work with countries and partners to close the gap and ensure access for everyone, everywhere.

🔴 BREAKING NEWS: CPA Condemns Amendment to South Sudan Peace Agreement

The Center for Peace and Advocacy (CPA) has strongly condemned the ratification process of amendments to the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement (R-ARCSS), accusing SPLM parliamentarians in Juba of violating the accord.

CPA Executive Director Dieng David Ring Adol said the amendment process lacked the required two-thirds majority after SPLM-IO MPs walked out of parliament.

The organization warned that bypassing the peace agreement could push South Sudan back into conflict and undermine the country’s transition toward elections.

“Bypassing proper implementation of the peace agreement risks dragging the country back into full-scale war,” CPA warned.

The group also urged South Sudan’s leaders to pursue inclusive dialogue and warned that continued violations could damage relations with IGAD, the African Union, and international partners.
