New Year Speech to Church Members and Partners of Christian Reformed Church- Sierra Leone.
Dear beloved members and valued partners,
As we enter a new year, we acknowledge the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. We recognize the dedication and commitment of many who have worked tirelessly to build our church community.
However, we cannot ignore the pressing issues affecting our church. We've seen malice, bias, and division within our ranks. Some locations have been closed, and buildings have fallen into disrepair. The abuse of power, favoritism, and discrimination have eroded trust.
We've seen poor stipends for pastors, no NASSIT payments, and welfare for them and their families was neglected. Retired pastors were overlooked, showing little concern or respect for their service, and incomplete projects. The manipulation of our constitution and lack of transparency and accountability are concerns.
We urge our donor partners to consider sending independent auditors to conduct a forensic audit. We recommend bringing in a new consultant to guide us forward.
We propose the presidency be suspended or the power of the presidency should not surpass any new consultant coming until we can establish a stronger foundation for independence and accountability.
Let's work together to rebuild trust and strengthen our church community.
Some key points to consider:
- Independent audit to ensure transparency
- New leadership guidance
- Support for pastors and staff
- Focus on unity and community
Let's move forward with hope and determination.
Happy New Year!
God bless us all!
