📖 FIRST SUNDAY DIVINE AND COMMUNION SERVICE
Preacher: Rev Ezekiel Macauley
Topic: You Are In Christ
Text:
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
Romans 8:1-5
1 Peter 2:9-10
📖 MESSAGE SUMMARY
The message centered on the powerful truth of what happens when a person accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. According to Scripture, anyone who is in Christ becomes a new creation. The old life is gone, and a new life begins. Our identity is no longer determined by our past mistakes, failures, or sinful lifestyle, but by our relationship with Christ.
🔑 KEY POINTS:
* Accepting Christ Gives You a New Identity; the moment a person receives Christ, they are given a new name and a new identity. Their past no longer defines them.
* The Old Nature Must Die; Every believer carries a responsibility to put to death the old sinful nature. The "old man" seeks to draw us back into sinful habits and worldly desires. If left unchecked, it can lead us away from God's purpose and into spiritual destruction.
* The New Man Lives by the Spirit;
When a person becomes a new creation, their life becomes spiritually directed. Their desires, speech, conduct, and decisions are influenced by the Holy Spirit.
* Christ Reconciled Us to God;
Jesus paid the ultimate price through His death on the cross so that humanity could be reconciled to God. Through Christ's sacrifice, the broken relationship between God and mankind was restored.
* Righteousness Comes Through Christ; Believers are not made righteous by their own works or efforts. We are made righteous through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
* Christ Has Set Us Free; Jesus delivers people from the bo***ge of sin, guilt, condemnation, and spiritual death. Those who are in Christ are no longer slaves to sin but have been brought into the liberty of God's grace.
* Believers Are God's Chosen People; As God's children, believers have a special identity and calling. We are chosen, holy, and set apart to proclaim God's goodness and marvelous light.
