Several years back during an annual church Retreat, God gave me a vision: to let pastors' children know that they're part of his plans.
But as many would have done, I too, were timid, doubtful of my capabilities and maturity--forgetting that when God sends you he equips you first if you are available. Years passed by, I kept pretending to be busy, some other times, reality and burden would kick in. And for every time someone would talk about the gathering of pastors' children my heart would throb, knowing that like Jonah, I'm trying to escape. I Indirectly got confirmation through a few friends.
But at a point in time, I thought God had taken that mandate from my hands.
Oh, guilt and worry kicked in. The guilt of disobedience and the fear I felt that night thinking God's call for Pastors' Children, to me, has been revoked was the limelight for mercy.
While I cried, my phone just had a flash of Romans 11.29 through a Bible app I had on my widget--which says: "For God's gift and his call are irrevocable" 😊 I quickly tried to check if what I saw was my screen or something else, but I couldn't see it. Normally , when my Bible app sends the verse of the day, it's usually in the morning and stays there till the following morning. But with this one, it was so quick that I didn't even see the book, neither the chapter, nor the verse; only the text. And at one glance of that scripture it was plastered in my head that I quickly had to google it and found out it was from Romans 11.29. the message Bible, NLT, and Amplified Bible do justice to that message.
Oh, the peace, relief, and the confirmation that God had not taken his call and it's in full warranty 😊.
However, I still didn't that year. Una know now we wey stubborn n kin fraid small.
Then in first week March 2024, after I got married, I was praying: then the burden to hold the Pastors' Children Retreat became stronger than ever. It was as if heaven was in a rush. This time, I couldn't hold it and to the glory of God, we held the retreat three weeks after. I spoke with a few fathers in the faith: Rev. Dr. Samuel G.A Kargbo, Rev. Endurance Uda, and with the Eastern Pastors' Network. and with my parents who are also pastors. And it's been from glory to glory each year.
This March, we'll be having the retreat for Pastors' Children for the third time in three years. But it took about five years to start.
The message is clear: God has a plan for Pastors' Children. The devil knows this and is strategic to know that an attack on the pastor's child, is an attack on the parents' ministries, and an attack on their ministry, is an attack on their churches. Day after day we keep seeing those who ought to reflect more light and example are the ones backsliding: They are the devil's target: They're pastors' children. And sometimes they're often the bummer lamb. Often forgotten and expected to act their parents' ministry like magic.
I'll share more, in time, by God's grace.
Meanwhile, let it be known to all pastors, and members that our annual Retreat will happen this year on the 28th of March 2026, at the Christ Evangelical Church, 72 Upper Philip Street, Wellington. Inform all pastors' children that you know.
