Divine Power Ministries International will be celebrating its 14th Year Thanksgiving Service on Sunday 26th April 2026 at Hastings Wharf, Western Area Rural District.
During this 14 years of existence, many things have happened.
We started in my living room at Byrne Lane, Off Wilkinson Road, then to my veranda as the number increased, then we celebrated our first thanksgiving service at Collegiate Secondary School.
Going forward, I saw an used land about 80 meters away from my residence at Byrne Lane. Upon inquiries, I noticed that the owner of the land was someone I knew. We had a conversation and he gave us permission to use the land. Wasting no time, the church moved, children, youth and the young adults, all were involved to put on a makeshift building of corrugated iron sheets. Then we moved in. Together with the young men I preached to, now new converts, evangelized the community from Mafembeh, the various drives at Byrne Lane, Greenville Lane, Wilkinson Road, Aberdeen old and new market, Sir Samuel Lewis Road, etc.
I taught Bible studies after office work, prayed, counseled, baptized, ordained workers, elders and a pastor(my wife), had fastings( long and short) and all nights of prayers, etc.
We were struggling but also surviving very well with members leaving and coming as usual.
We celebrated our 10th year anniversary with a crusade in the community and all. We were making steady progress.
Then all of sudden without prior notice we received the heavy hit. The land owner put the land on sale without informing us. We crossed check with him and the cost stated was $60,000. Let that sink in for a while!
Before we can rally around members and good people, the land was sold with someone we had been preaching to and had fellowship with us few times with as the agent, cutting his commission.
The blow was heavy, workers, members, the baptized, trained, etc. abandoned the church and quickly integrated into another church. Few faithful ones remained and are still with us.
Knowing who God is and will always be, had gone ahead of us to secure a land of close to a town lot at Hastings Wharf. The work started all over again, a new community, a fresh challenge.
Amidst all of these God had and has never failed us. We put up another makeshift structure, started fellowship again, won souls, baptized them, ordained ministers, deaconesses, start a school and now we have started building a permanent structure.
Many thanks to the owner who gave his land at no cost during our time at Byrne Lane, May God bless him for that. Many thanks to members who left but are still in the faith, may God bless them for the time we prayed, fasted and fellowship together.
Abundant blessings to those who are still part of the journey. Your labour and endurance will be rewarded by the Lord.
