Throughout my life, I’ve seen God do wonderful things — healing, helping, and protecting my friends and family. I’ve also personally experienced His help through the Holy Spirit. I first came to know Christ in Sunday school, where I learned about His miracles. Since then, whenever I faced challenges I couldn’t handle on my own, I would turn to Him for guidance.

Before my PSLE, I applied through DSA Art and prepared my portfolio and interview. I chose to apply to SJI because I wanted to be closer to God. On the day of the interview, I suddenly forgot my script, but while waiting, I prayed for help. Slowly, I began to remember from words to full sentence and I believe God helped me through it. Now that I’m in SJI, I know I couldn’t have done it without Him. Having seen His goodness and power, I want to be His disciple and follow Him.

Before I truly knew Jesus or had faith in Him, I didn’t have many people I could turn to for help. That began to change as I learned more about Him in Children’s Church, where I slowly started to believe in Him and place my trust in Him. In mid-2025, I made the decision to accept Christ into my life.

I chose to follow Him because I had experienced His help during some of my lowest moments. Whenever I felt overwhelmed, I would pray, and He brought me comfort and peace. I’ve also seen Him guide me in my life, even in things like choosing my secondary school, which helped me grow in trust and love for Him. That is why I want to be baptised, to obey Him and make Him my number one priority, because He is the reason I am still standing.

I was a free thinker before - one who relied on logic and went to temples or church when invited. Although I attended church on and off since primary school, I never understood what faith meant. In 2021, after being invited to Salem Chapel, I still wasn’t attending regularly. That same year, I had a serious fall and broke my kneecap. In the hospital, despite believing in logic, my first instinct was to pray—for no pain, for a ward, and for timely medical care. Remarkably, I experienced no pain throughout surgery and recovery, and everything seemed to fall into place in unexpected ways. Even so, I continued to question and struggle with faith, often wondering what it meant to “just believe,” especially during moments of fear about life and death.

Things began to change when I learned that faith grows through prayer. As I started praying more, I saw my questions being answered through sermons, and experienced answered prayers. My faith in God gradually grew. On 14 December 2024, I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. To my amazement I realised that I injured my knee exactly three years prior, on 14 December 2021! Since then, fear has been replaced with peace, and I’ve found assurance knowing my life is in His hands. Although I was initially hesitant about baptism, God’s continued faithfulness and answered prayers led me to take this step of obedience. And so today, I choose to be baptised.

Last year at youth camp, on the second night near the end, Daniel shared something that deeply impacted me. He spoke about a vision of a child crying alone in the toilet, thinking no one was there for them and that it was the only place they felt safe. That moment stood out to me because I realised—I was that child.

In that instant, I began to truly believe that God is real and that He had been with me all along, even through the past 15 years when I felt alone. I realised I was never truly by myself, and that encounter changed my perspective completely. Because of this, I now want to be baptised.

Growing up, I didn’t truly know Him—I would visit the temple, attend church occasionally, and eventually only came before major exams, treating it like a way to seek luck. I never fully understood what it meant that Jesus died on the cross for my sins.

During my O Level exam period, something changed. One night, I felt a strong desire to seek God and draw closer to Him—I believe it was the result of years of prayers from my family and friends. When I was invited to Salem Chapel by my best friend Reuven, I decided to go, and since then, God has transformed my life through His presence, His Word, and even through trials. From my first church service to cell group, camps, and now baptism, I’ve experienced His everlasting love. Even when I struggle, He never leaves me, always welcoming me back with open arms. All glory to God and God loves you!
