We celebrated our 37th Anniversary this morning with a special item by Brothers Derrick and Shane, titled the Shelter.
2020 has been a challenging year for all of us as COVID-19 disrupted our routines. We had to adapt to the situation very quickly to think of ways to ensure our services went on and our members were able to worship safely.
This meant several of our members had to learn new skills. We had to be creative in working within the regulations while preserving holiness in worship. New teams had to be set up to manage the regulations, operationalise cleaning regimes and ensure the smooth running of our services online and congregational.
Now that congregational worship is allowed, Shane and Derrick recorded a special presentation, dedicated to all FIBCians for the sprit of unity and courage shown in response to our predicament early this year.
The song is called "The Shelter" and it talks about the fact that we need each other, and that God really works through His people.
The lyrics are based on an old Irish saying "it is in the shelter of each other that the people live" and those words make up the chorus of the song and it reminds us that it is in community, and not in isolation, that we truly thrive.
We felt it this year when the circuit breaker kicked in for 2 months starting April, we had to worship while physically apart; we adapted to receive His word online but after a few services, we all felt the effects of the absence of fellowship.
This song is an appreciation to us all that even though we were physically apart, we were never alone. We continued to pray for each other, we answered each other's prayers. Even now, we are Jesus to each other. We are each other's shelter. We are the Church.
Well done! This song is for you. Blessed 37th Anniversary FIBC!
Special thanks for Spencer and Cynthia for making this recording possible.
