The Eighth Zhang Tian Shi (Zhang Jiong)
The dates of his birth and death are unknown.
His courtesy name is Yan Chao. As stated in the Lineage, he was accomplished in Taoism at an early age and he was also a handsome man with many virtues.
To supplicants who were devout, he treated them generously no matter what their social statuses were and the prayers were usually answered by immortals.
The emperor once summoned him to the imperial court and asked him about Taoism.
According to the Mirror of the Immortals, on special days, he would set the registers of different ranks of the Perfect Ones out in a tidy chamber and burned joss sticks regularly.
He was greatly revered for his magical skill of healing disease and dispelling evil spirits.
lt was said that the First Qi emperor of the Southern Dynasty once summoned him to the palace and consulted him on Taoist ideas.
He died at the age of ninety. In the thirteenth year of the Zhi Zheng Era of the Yuan Dynasty, he was conferred the title "the Perfect Sovereign of the Jade Purity Who Transforms Himself for the Enlightenment".
