✨🙏🏻Happy Vesak Day from Ti-Sarana Buddhist Association🙏🏻✨
Vesak arrives.
We light lamps.
We offer flowers.
We give alms.
We remember the name of the Buddha with deep reverence.
Yet, amidst all of this, there is one thing we tend to forget. Did the Buddha expect us merely to offer flowers to Him?
Today, many people in the world see the Buddha in a statue. Some see Him in a painting. Others see Him at the moment they light a lamp under a Bodhi tree. But seeing the Buddha does not end there.
The greatness of the Buddha lies not in His physical form, but in His virtues. Not in His power, but in His compassion. Not in the number of His followers, but in the wisdom that can transform human hearts.
The Buddha did not come to the world to turn man into a god. He came to make man truly human:
To cultivate loving-kindness where there is hatred.
To cultivate patience where there is anger.
To cultivate generosity where there is greed.
To kindle the light of wisdom where there is darkness.
Today, we live in an era where science and technology have reached their absolute peak. But is the human mind at peace? Even when families live together, aren’t their hearts drifting apart?
Information is abundant, but wisdom is scarce.
Wealth is abundant, but happiness is scarce.
Power is abundant, but compassion is rare.
Because of this very reason, the teachings of the Buddha remain fresh even today. His message is remarkably simple:
Abstain from all unwholesome deeds.
Cultivate all good deeds.
Purify your own mind."
Within these few simple words lies hidden the deepest truth of entire human existence. The root of most problems in the world lies within the undisciplined human mind. Therefore, before changing the world, the Buddha taught how to change the human mind.
Wishing you and your loved ones a peaceful, meaningful, and blessed Vesak Day.
May all beings be well and happy.
