Changsan Buddhist Society (wat Kireevihara)

Changsan Buddhist Society (wat Kireevihara) Luang Pu Thuad temple Changsan Buddhist Society was first located at Old Upper Changi Road in early 70's. Phra Maha S.J. Pannadhamvides (Chow Kun).

This temple was found by our Abbot, Mr Lew Tho Juew, fondly known as ShiFu in Mandarin. This marked the beginning of Changsan Buddhist Society in Singapore. Changsan Buddhist Society was then moved to the second temple location at Harvey Avenue in mid 80's. Changsan Buddhist Society was finally moved to our present location at 55 Jln Chempaka Kuning Singapore 489093 in mid 90's. Thanks to all the

members and devotees' donation, we bought the unit next door at 57 Jln Chempaka Kuning to increase our land area in early 2008, and upgraded our temple's facility to accommodate the growing number of members and devotees. Our Society is extremely pleased to announce that on the auspicious day of 28 December 2008 (Buddha Enlightenment Day), Changsan Buddhist Society Committee Members, led by our abbot Mr. Lew Tho Juew, went to Wat Ananda (Singapore) and received the Buddha's Sacred Relics from the abbot Ven. These Buddha's Sacred Relics is now permanently kept in our Changsan Buddhist Society for everyone to offer our respect. Our society will only showcase the Buddha Sacred Relics to the public on two occasions of every year, Buddha Enlightenment Day and Vesak Day. Changsan Buddhist Society was officially registered and accepted as a member of the Thai Sangha Samatca (Singapore) dated on 28 September 2009. The society was given the Thai name of "WAT KIREEVIHARA", means a series of mountains in Thai language. This is the same meaning as our "Changsan" Buddhist Society, in Mandarin is known as "Long Mountains". The Society has also appointed Venerable Phra Maha Samer Jendanklang of Wat Ananda and the Thai Sangha Samatca (Singapore) as our "Advisor" of the temple. Our Society (Wat Kireevihara) had already received the official certificate from Phra Maha S.J. Pannadhamvides (Chow Kun), which is the abbot of Wat Ananda and the President of the Thai Sangha Samatca (Singapore) on the Kathina (Robe-Offering) Day, which falls on 25 October 2009 (Sunday).
