Over the past two days, our leaders set aside time to seek God's direction for Charis.

As we prepared for 2027, our conversations went beyond workplans into the heart of who we are as a community, reflecting on volunteer sustainability, psychological safety, and how we can better care for one another as fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. In creating space for honest conversations, we found the courage to be honest ourselves.

And as we listened to one another, the Holy Spirit moved. Tears were shed, invisible walls started coming down, and we were reminded that beneath our strengths and roles, we are all broken people in need of God's grace, healing, and transformation.

So we raise an Ebenezer as a marker of God's faithfulness. Not because the work is finished, but because we want to remember the prayers prayed, the burdens laid down, the healing that began, and the renewed commitment to walk toward deeper unity and true freedom as one Charis, one body in Christ.

"Thus far the Lord has helped us." 1 Samuel 7:12

Could your gifts serve the mission of the church?

At Charis, we believe God calls people to reflect His love in every sphere of life: in workplaces, homes, neighbourhoods, schools, and in church ministry as well.ย

We're looking for individuals who feel called to equip and sustain a community where every disciple will abide in Jesus, pursue holiness of heart and life, and actively participate in God's mission in the world.

If you sense God leading you to steward your gifts in church-based vocational work, weโ€™d love to explore this with you!

For those wrestling with questions of meaning, purpose, and faith, we echo the same invitation Jesus gave to Nathanael: "Come and see."

Over the past months, our Alpha courses in English and Mandarin have welcomed people from different walks of life to gather around tables, share meals, and ask the big questions: Who is Jesus? Why am I here? Does life have meaning?

And along the way, new friendships were formed over food, and doubts were answered with grace and exploration. We thank God for all the lives that have been changed by the love of Christ.

While our Alpha runs for the first half of the year have come to an end, Jesus' invitation is still the same: "Come and see."
If youโ€™ve ever wondered about faith, you belong at Alpha.

On Pentecost and Aldersgate Sunday, we celebrated the coming of the Holy Spirit and rejoiced as new brothers and sisters were baptised, confirmed, and welcomed into the Charis family. ๐Ÿ•Š๐Ÿ”ฅ

What began in Acts 2 continues today: the Spirit is still moving. Hearts are still being strangely warmed. Lives are still being transformed. And the Church is still growing.

Through Baptism, Confirmation, and Membership, we witnessed public declarations of faith, renewed commitment to Christ, and the joy of belonging to the body of Christ.

โ€œFor we were all baptised by one Spirit so as to form one body.โ€

The Sabbath is a 24-hour time period set aside to stop, rest, delight, and worship.

These arenโ€™t steps to master, but a rhythm to enter. The goal isnโ€™t just to โ€œpractise Sabbath.โ€ Itโ€™s to become people marked by an inner spirit of restfulness: unhurried, present, at ease in our own bodies, capable of love even in a culture of exhaustion.

In a world shaped by hurry, noise, and exhaustion, God invites us to stop.

Sabbath, which means โ€œto stop,โ€ is both a command and a gift.

Over the past weeks, weโ€™ve learned that Sabbath is rest for our souls and a rhythm woven into creation. As disciples of Jesus, who Himself kept Sabbath, we practice it not as a rule, but as a way of following Jesus into His way of life.

As we stop our work to trust in His work, we open ourselves to the very rest only He can give.

๐Ÿ’ญ How is the Holy Spirit inviting you to respond to this call to Sabbath?

For the second year running, six Charisians returned to the Philippines as part of a medical mission trip with 21 other volunteers across 13 churches, providing hands-on care to over 1,450 patients in Antipolo, Philippines.

In every consultation, vision screening, dental treatment, medication dispensed and minor surgery, Jesus, the Great Physician, was at work. It was mission in motion, where ordinary people steward their gifts to join Christ in healing the world.

To the incredible team of doctors, nurses, dentists, and volunteers: thank you for giving your time and energy. And for those we served: may you know the love and compassion of Jesus.

All glory to God!

Many of us mark Easter Sunday as the end of the celebration, but in truth, it is only the beginning!

For Christians who follow the Churchโ€™s ancient rhythm, weโ€™ve now entered Eastertide: a joyful season of fifty days from Easter Sunday to Pentecost. After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples over forty days, teaching them about the Kingdom, breaking bread, and commissioning them (Acts 1:3). Then He ascended, and ten days later, the Holy Spirit was poured out at Pentecost (Acts 2).

In Eastertide, we donโ€™t just remember a past event. We celebrate a present victory: Christ has conquered sin; He has removed the shroud of death; He reigns over all power, and He is with us, even now!

As Methodists, we believe Christโ€™s victory transforms how we live. John Wesley proclaimed the resurrection as Godโ€™s decisive act of grace that breaks the chains of sin and empowers us to walk in communion, sanctification, and mission. Resurrection life is victorious life: not because we are strong, but because He is.

Then pray: โ€œChrist the Victor over sin and death, help me live today in the power and freedom of Your triumph.โ€

This Eastertide, let us walk in the joy of His victory.
We are an Easter people, and โ€˜Alleluiaโ€™ is our song!

Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!

What does it mean for a church to celebrate Easter?

For us at Charis Methodist Church, it means one table for everyone.

As the Lord opened the Word in our midst, we learned that the burial shroud of sin and death has been removed, and God has set a table of abundance for all peoples in its place.

Out of gratitude, we brought our tithes, our dishes, and our "five loaves and two fish". We offered what we had, and Jesus turned it into a feast.

And what a Love Feast it was! In the simple act of eating together, we declared that in a world of isolation, the Church is still the place where strangers become family over a shared meal.

To the hands that cooked for hours, the teams that served behind the scenes, and the givers who made this day possible: Thank you for feeding us and showing us the Gospel.

The shroud is gone. The feast is here. And we are family.

Happy Easter from Charis Methodist Church!

On this Holy Saturday, we pause in the waiting between the cross and the resurrection.

This past Maundy Thursday, we reflected on Christโ€™s humility and love through foot washing, Holy Communion, and the stripping of the altar. โ€œHaving loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the endโ€ (John 13:1b).

On Good Friday, we looked to the cross, seeing both the weight of our sin and the depth of Godโ€™s love. As we renounced our sin and laid them before Him, we were reminded that โ€œif we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive usโ€ (1 John 1:9).

Today, on Holy Saturday, we continue to turn back to God, trusting in His mercy, resting in His love, and holding on to the hope of new life in Christ.
