Tracing back to our church's humble beginnings in 1924, it started as an assembly of worshippers who gathered at Jalan Sultan. Loo Thian-liong was the pastor that was ministering to this group. Subsequently, the assembly became a preaching center in 1935, an initiative driven by Rev. Yeh Tong Chai. This was accepted by the Synod AGM in 1936, and was named Beach Road Preaching Center. By 1937, a building was rented at Palembang Road to house this preaching center. After WWII, Chen Li Presbyterian Church was officially registered in 1942 with a membership of 82 and the preaching center was rebuilt as Chen Li Primary School, which began with an enrolment of 52 students at the end of 1948. Chen Li Presbyterian Church’s present location was bought in 1959, and the church moved in on the 23rd July, 1960. Chen Li Kindergarten started lessons in 1961, and lasted till 1979. In 1990, renovations were carried out to combine the building that housed the parsonages with the church. Chen Li Kindergarten restarted in 1995 to serve the educational needs of the surrounding community. From a church with only one Hokkien service, Chen Li now has three services to cater to the various language needs of the Chinese community in Singapore. There is an bilingual English / Mandarin service and a liturgical Hokkien / Mandarin service. A Thai service was added in 1994 to serve the growing Thai christian community. Pastoral Team 教牧团:
